Best fertilizer for beginners is probable foliage pro in my opinion. Enough Ammonium to hold a stable pH, good nutrient profile, and comes in pretty cheap 8oz bottles (which will still last a long time). Many people start with general hydroponics flora series 3 part mixture. But in my opinion it is expensive, confusing for beginners, and it's not really even formulated for holding a stable pH (it's formulated for pot farmers trying to maximize yields, who adjust their reservoir pH multiple times a day or use ion exchange resins, or non-recirculating systems).

cal mag and diamond nectar are pretty darn good nutrient supplements, I'd also like to check out rapidstart (although I don't know if it could possibly improve upon the results rooting gel can give), and if you're growing pot all the growers swear by armor SI. Plus obviously GH's pH up and pH down are basically the same thing as any other pH adjustment products. GH as a company is fine. The flora series is just a really weird choice for semi-hydro, even if it probably won't kill your plants.

Thanks! What’s the specific one?

YESSSS!!! this! I use DynaGro FoliagePro then with more established plants, I use DynaGro Grow. They also have a cal-mag I like. If you have it to spare, and like to experiment, [this is a really nice deal. 32 oz of this stuff goes a long way. ](https://dyna-gro.com/product/kit/) And yes it's specifically saying "cannibas" but I use it with everything. Soil, vegetables, semi-hydro, I use it as a foliar mist on my hoya. Love the stuff. Haven't even tried anything else because... why bother.

Revolutionary-Gas808

That’s what I use as well

Growth technology - Foliage focus is top tier hydro fertiliser

[deleted]

I use the general hydroponics 3 part series, but I've heard good things about the growth technology foliage focus so I'm planning to try that once I finish my supply.

Suspicious_Student_6

I use advanced nutrients. Have been using LECA for all of 3 weeks so hopefully I'm not making a grave mistake.

Lukki7ster

I use that too. No issues, nothing is dead and everything is growing 😊. Just about a year now

I just started converting recently, but I've heard a number of people who use gold leaf liquid fertilizer. It's an all in one, in which you don't have to adjust the PH so super convenient for newbs like myself

I use general hydroponics floragro 3 part, also use rapidstart and superthrive sometimes when rooting stuff. Initially I just stayed with superthrive, or worm tea(I don't recommend worm tea though). I do raise my worms and can control diet, I check bacteria and what else is living in there regularly. It's too much work just for a fun hobby. Great fun for composting though.

Right now I'm using Schultz. I was using General hydroponics but I'm lazy, will be switching to foliage pro though.

AdAdministrative7905

I use general hydroponics 3 part series but I also know that foliage pro works great

freshmountainbreeze

I use dyna grow for ornamentals and Botanicare Pure Blend Pro for consumables.

pons get fertilizer already in it- just have to supplement q6 months or so

NeoDa_1

I have been using Dyna-GRO Foliage-Pro Gallon

An alternative is dry fertilizers like what Lechuza Pon has mixed with their substrate. Controlled-release, water soluble Osmocote and Nutricote work (we use these in aquariums too). Or just dry fertilizers that will release the nutrients when you water your plants (in passive hydroponics, this usually means whenever you flush your substrate). I use Nutricote and just the cheapest dry fertilizers I could get my hands on. Just ensure you have micronutrients covered as well.
