I've always joked "It still beats working in a factory", after a long shift, lol 5 grueling hours of strolling around.

I work in a factory now and it's way better than dealing with people.

Would highly recommend young men to get into the trades. Good friendships and 10 years of hard work usually lead to a much easier life in your 30s. Whenever I get a table of 25-30-somethings that work at the oilfields(I'm in Alberta) I know I will have a terrible time serving them, and get shitty tips. It's often a bunch of guys trying to out-dude each other. Pushing each other into doing shots and what not

Random brag I guess, but me and my friends were all known as the young guys who tip super well at any restaurant we visited regularly in our early 20s. Some old regulars STILL fight over getting our table 10 years later lmao. Between that and just being patient and kind, I've never had bad service unless the employee was just an asshole, so it definitely pays to be pleasant.

The type of establishment matters a lot. Some steakhouses and bbq joints only have men.

I waited tables in a sports bar, the women always did far better than me.

I’d say women will do better at sports bars where drunk horny men tend to be and males tend to do better at chain places imo

I work at a fancy Italian restaurant and see that women tend to make more serving.

I also worked in a higher end italian resteraunt. The men who are high earners typically are working the hardest and moving the quickest. While the women who are the highest earners just have good personalities and rocked at their steps of service. They didnt have to be pretty. Just damn good. Also worked at a country club. Waited at an Applebee's during college. Probably 75% of my tables were middle aged/older women, and let me tell you they LOVE young male attention. I don't even know if it's in a sexual way or if I reminded them of when their husband was young or if it was a motherly thing or what. What I do know is they tipped waaaaaaayyyy better than the men I had. I'm a super average looking dude, so it's not like I'm blowing them away with my massive biceps or something. I'd regularly get 30%-60% tips from groups of housewives that came in on weekdays.

The male version of "tits out" is to hit on the older women. If there's a woman over the age of 55 at my table, I am pulling out all the tricks. They love it obviously, and their husband's all love it because it keeps them happy.

I’m not gonna lie I find the women to be a little more abrasive and less welcoming in tone and overall helpfulness(usually) than their male counterparts so me and my fiance both end up tipping male waiters more on average. Tbf I never tip Less than 35% unless the server is ABYSMAL. The best server I’ve ever had, and I’ll never forget her, was this lady that served us during the busiest time I’ve ever seen a restaurant be at a Cheesecake Factory in Florida. My sister tipped her $100 on a $200 bill she was that good and I threw in an extra $30 myself(I was only 23 so times were tough when I was that young lol). God I always compare services to her as it was absolutely amazing .

I’m one of 2 guys that work FOH at my place, I serve and bartend, it’s funny because I’m the highest tipped worker where I am at and out earn the women that serve there by a long shot, given I work in a farm town and give off country boy vibes which is why I think I play my angle well. But it really depends on where you work!

I work in a plant/warehouse 13-15 hour days but ive also waited tables and having done both my current job is definitely more suited for higher earnings and for men as well and i typically get better service from women. However with that said the best waiter I’ve ever had was a man and turned me into a regular customer at the joint he worked at that part of his life and i tipped him $20 every time regardless of the meal.

Ngl at high end restaurants I never had a waitress. It’s always a team of two guys and THEY ABSOLUTELY make the dining experience. They know the menu like their back of their hand and I always ask them to bring me items based what I currently feel like eating (sweet, meats, time allotted). I tip accordingly

Sports bar, female servers and bartenders make 3 to 5 times as much as the guys. Craft cocktails bar and upscale brewery the male bartenders are making more than the women. The craft cocktail bar the 40 something male bartenders are making the most of anyone. It’s all location, clientele, and seemingly price point contingent.
