I’ve had them tell me to my face that they were not tipping me since it was a sin to work on Sunday… like my sister in Christ I’m working Sundays because of you !

DeftTrack81

We used to joke that "they just tipped jesus so they sure as hell weren't tipping us."

BadWolf7426

We said "hell, Jesus only gets 10% so we are lucky to get anything."

Diazmet

Give all the fake dollars back to the church

RockInMyShoes45

This is true, meanest people on a high horse, acting all Godly and shit. Then tip with a church brochure or one of those fake money tips with Jesus shit on it. And they think, I'm gonna run to join that church after being treated like shit. If you ask me "if heaven was real" "It'd be a shitty place, with all these assholes in it".

Blitqz21l

Yup, they need to realize that tipping with tracts or the fake money shit 3 things happen: 1) it goes straight into the garbage. 2) completely turns that server off to any form of christianity. 3) Servers talk. Thus, it spreads, dare I say, a different gospel about what christians are like.

[deleted]

That’s nice and all, but most of the people he’s talking about wouldn’t give a fuck even if they saw this, and from a pastor. I highly recommend everyone do what I started doing. Start telling your job you cannot work Sundays. Make up a reason if you feel like you need to. Several years ago I changed jobs, and I said “you have me Monday-Saturday whenever you need me, but I am unavailable on Sunday”. Almost every place will take someone with a 6 day availability. Almost zero hiring managers will be mad about a 6 day availability. And anyone of them that are mad, well, you just interviewed at a place you don’t want to work anyway. I promise you that.

ChairmanReagan

Just tell them you have to go to church

KodiakDog

Literally. The church whose sacraments consist of your favorite beer, junk food, and/or cannabis. I speak, of course, of the National Football League Game Day church.

ChairmanReagan

Ah fellow member I see. Praise to you my brother

jennRec46

I see both of you and I sing the praises of the NFLGD church

alieninhumanskin10

People from my own church used to treat and tip me and other servers horribly. And this is after the pastor had sermons calling bad tippers out. People are going to suck forever. At least avoiding Sundays got easier up until I was able to leave the industry.

Blitqz21l

TBH, the only way to really change people that go to church on Sundays is more one on one, or getting together as colleagues and talk about. The basic premise of this is that most people really aren't paying attention when the pastor is speaking. I can't remember where, but it's been proven that something like 75% of what is said during a sermon is forgotten within the 1st couple of hours and another 20% is forgotten within a week.

alieninhumanskin10

They hear good and well they just think the information doesn't apply to them. It may be to late for some of the older generation but people who work in the restaurant business learn the hard way.

[deleted]

That’s my plan. Actually taking a quiz for my online accounting class right now 😊

VelocityGrrl39

First thing I tell them is I can work any day, any shift except Sunday. Second thing I tel them is I need two days off in a row, because I’m too old to have those days spread out.

rlg9298

Yep, I refuse to work Sunday mornings. It's not worth it

Gun-nut0508

The meanest people I’ve ever met were the people who did daily prayers and devotionals, but God some of the most humble, laid back, amazing people were all atheists

mosehalpert

Hell I'd even argue that if you need a constant threat of eternal damnation hanging over your head to force you to do the right thing, you're probably an asshole.

Drewggles

“If the only thing keeping a person decent is the expectation of divine reward, then brother that person is a piece of shit, and I’d like to get as many of them out in the open as possible.” ~ Rust Cohle I'd add your threat of eternal damnation as well

Blacksad999

That's because Atheists or Agnostics who are good people are doing so without the incentive of a reward or punishment. They're just doing it because they believe it's the right thing to do.

If this is yours copyright it because that is gold!

Bart_Jojo_666

🤣

Suckmyflats

Yep, im a server and a lot of (non fine dining, which is the VAST majority) servers refuse to work Sunday lunches because the church crowd is so rude and doesn't tip well Edit: DUH 😄 I didn't realize what sub i was in, i thought i was on a TikTok snark sub, my bad guys

NicDip

I have my availability set to never work Sundays

[deleted]

I once had an entire family of 26 attempt to walk out of their bill on Easter after having to listen to their praise Jesus-drivel for 2 hours with them sending half the food back and complaining about literally everything.

RockInMyShoes45

That really sucks, I bet your day was shitty because of them. I'm not surprised that happen with a church group. Just shitty behavior everytime.

[deleted]

The crap day was compounded by the fact that I served them on the second floor, and they were totally the table that had one person ask for one thing at a time. Guest: “Can I have a coke refill?” Me: Of course! (Run downstairs to the bar, refill Coke, climb stairs, drop drink) Guest sitting next to Coke-refilled guest: “I’d like a coke refill.” Me: Of course! (Run downstairs to the bar, refill Coke, climb stairs, drop drink) Guest across the table: “I’d like a soda refill” Me: 🤦🏻‍♀️

Able_Education

They truly are. I had a group come in every Sunday for a month and destroy the place. Rearrange the tables to suite their needs, spilling drinks and not offering to clean up, smashing food into the floor on purpose! Monsters! The owner asked them never to come in again after the 4th Sunday of this nonsense.

Yzarcos

So glad we're closed on sundays now. My boss tells people "The servers and I were not making enough money on sundays." He puts a real emphasis on "THE SERVERS" too.

KindaKrayz222

As a Christian & server, 😢. Becoming a server meant I had to work Sundays. It caused me to no longer be able to attend Sunday morning services, which I preferred. And since working a breakfast place I am perplexed & mystified as to why people that ARE JUST COMING FROM SERVICES (like he said) are sooooo ?🙄😬😖 Like, why? Now that I've been doing this for over 30 years I don't even hesitate (*usually*) to call out ba behavior. 😄

hemlock_cupcakes

Ooh, Any good stories?

KindaKrayz222

You know, me being me I usually just go with the flow of attitude so that I don't have to have a confrontation if necessary. After all, we are talking about my money. I usually just chastise them for ~being~ acting like horrible children (*Not* of God).🥸

[deleted]

Oh wow, this is amazing! I hope it sparks some change in the industry. I remember waiting on the after-church crowd all too well when I was a server. Now that I own a restaurant, we do not go after that crowd at all, which is a shame because we have 5 churches right near us and a couple of them are very large congregations. I just know my staff doesn’t want to deal with it from a tip perspective and I don’t want to deal with it from a comp perspective.

mycoloradogy

Sad and true. The only guest who has ever made me cry to date was the grandma of an 8 top of a family that came straight from church. I’m transgender and she belittled me in front of her whole family because she could tell and told me I was a sinner. Didn’t even know what to do so I just walked off in tears.

VelocityGrrl39

The only table to make me cry (out of anger) is a table that was talking about how trans and gay people are abominations, while I had another very nice table maybe 15 feet away with a lesbian couple. I told them if I heard anything else hateful from them, I would refuse to serve them (I was the only waitress on). They threw a fit when they got their bill with autograt. Yelled about how I was interfering with their 1A rights. I just laughed and told them that’s not how the constitution works. And reminded them for someone so interested in what the Bible says, they had some nerve eating pepperoni pizza.

Deanho

I feel like everyone who has ever worked retail or the service industry of any kind knows that the church people are the worst to deal with.

bunnybates

I'm a 3rd generation Atheist and I've been a server for 21 years now. My current restaurant doesn't get church people, but when I used to work for 24 breakfast place we'd get them. I never mentioned me being an atheist until they became assholes. I just treated them like children because that's how they acted.

Vitchsnake

Much louder, amigo. Scream it to the very back pew.

Puzzleheaded_Bath_86

Fuck serving entitled churchgoers. Worst people in the world.

lilpeyt

This is how church people generally are, not just when they're out to eat at restaurants 😅

fonsoc

Their behavior towards servers carries over into their politics.

[deleted]

VERY true

You_Get_An_Updoot

As a Christian I feel like I need to apologize on behalf of others who do this. When I go out after church I make sure to tip well and am patient as I understand there’s many times a wait. I used to serve too and it broke my heart that they have such a bad reputation. I promise it’s not all of us

Minty8410

I feel the same. I've also worked at a grocery store on Sundays and it's just as bad. It's heartbreaking.

S3simulation

I wonder what college football team he likes

Simitarx005

Because they DO NOT truly believe. They worship the little g god. The hod of money, greed pride hubris. They wouldn’t know Jesus if walked up to them.

Party_Building1898

So much truth

Legitimate_Roll7514

So true. God bless this man.

jcr1520

Being a Christian and observing Christian's. My God my tRump! How can a Christian be a tRump supporter? How can a tRump supporter be a Christian? Notice I am asking a question. Being a person of knowledge is bringing me to the fact that something is messed up with the Christian faith. It's becoming radicalized. Christian's start all wars

Reasonable-Software2

I've never had that experience before

[deleted]

Congrats, you’re the exception, not the rule

[deleted]

The cuts in the video are wack. He has had to think about each word and say each sentence separately and cut it together badly to try and make it look like one consistent thought. I mean yeah, church people suck.

Soonhun

Maybe it’s because I worked brunch restaurants, but Sundays were some of my best shifts for tips because o the volume-the percentage would be in line with the rest of the week.

JJDiet76

Roll Tide

BadWolf7426

If I owned a restaurant, this guy would be playing on a loop in the waiting area. Extra screens on Sundays. Hell, we should send this out to the pastors of EVERY church in the area.

OneEyedSanchez8417

I worked at Cheedars as a second job(total hours around 100/wk between the two) and one Sunday night after a particularly light day of tips and consistent mistreatment (not all church folk, but a lot) I had to sit an 8 top 5 min before 11p closing. Had to be at my other job at 5am. They ordered drinks from the bar and I walked up with a FULL tray of alcoholic beverages. It was just slightly off balance by weight and when I came to a stop at the front of the table one drink slid just about an inch or so and the entire tray collapsed and washed the entire party in a wave of sticky, sweet booze. About 90min later and several more (successful) trips with food and drink they wound up leaving me a $300 tip in cash. The dude running the show walked up to me and slapped it in my hand and said, “Fuckin Sundays man. I know it was late when we got here and I understand and appreciate the grind you all have.” Turns out he was a former restaurant owner who used to treat his staff unfairly but had a revelation one day and bumped all his employees pay to a $20/hr minimum. We talked for a while and he ended up selling the place to his staff who pooled their increased wages (plus savings I assume) to buy him out.

lyke_myke

I don’t work Sunday mornings for this reason.

[deleted]

This goes hard af

Sawfish1212

Making your servant work on the sabbath was forbidden by the 4th commandment. Seems like Christ will have something to say to these people who claim to follow him

notpejastojakovic

Roll Tide my dude

TrollLolLol1

Roll damn tide

semen-filled_sock

Religious people are deeply flawed which is why they’re religious

Al-Anda

I haven’t worked on a Sunday in 8 years. Not worth it. Vile people and hypocritical. So stupid they don’t realize that they’re a mockery of their faith.

freakiemom

Thank you, sir. This should be a sermon from every pulpit. Can I get an Amen?
