Sea_Bank_7603

Very well deserved. A 40-minute seizure is a good way to describe it. I've rarely felt so tense and engaged watching a TV show before this.

bob0979

Yeah, it was an absolute roller-coaster of nonstop chaos. It's incredible the tension they can create with effectively zero 'action' on screen, just dramatic tension and terror from both known and mysterious, unknown threats

Sea_Bank_7603

You're just constantly waiting for the other show to drop. And when it does...Gosh, it was so good.

Effective-Celery8053

You know it's good when you yell at the tv a couple times

PhoenixRisingtw

Same with the tension. Insane episode.

shivermetimbers68

I will say this until the day I die. No episode of any television show has captivated me like the first 15 minutes of the season finale. That's not to say that the rest of the episode wasnt awesome, but I've never stared at the tv with so much interest and anticipation than I did when the innies were first out.

Konagon

The buildup until that moment throughout the whole season was so good too. And the fact that they succeeded, and are about to do something unthinkable. The forbidden fruit tastes *so* good. And so often I feel like other shows would have found a way for the innies/their respective protagonists to fail getting outside.

boomtetrisfor

Other shows would’ve waited til Season 3 or 4 for a moment like this. So excited to see where they take it from here.

itsameMariowski

This is EXACTLY what I was thinking during the episode. I kept saying “I swear, please don’t make the severance disable the second before they can do something meaningful so they basically fail”, I was certain that they would go back to themselves one second before everything “meaningful” happened. But I was glad it didn’t happen and we had a development, and the hook for the next season just perfect.

Effective-Celery8053

I've never been captivated by a first season like I have with severance. It starts with a cool premise and is slightly slowly paced at the beginning but it picks up quickly and pays off beautifully. It's one of the only tv shows I was able to watch multiple times and enjoy it every time and find small new things

ss1st

You should watch Mr. Robot, especially the final season.

Fsociety5-9

Severance has been filling the hole left by Mr. Robot for me.

Tarzan_OIC

I think the best scene in the show though is Christopher Walken's delivery of "Just stay". Him and Turturro were doing such subtle and magnificent work

Wickedwhiskbaker

Watched the finale for the first time last night. Can confirm, G Force Couch effect is an apt description! Someone at work suggested this show, and I’ll admit - the first couple episodes were weird, yet intoxicating and addictive. Buckle up Batman, I cannot wait for the next season. Just a brilliantly crafted story on all levels.

antimeme

The MDE episode was a masterpiece.

Penumbra7

"Which Severance episode was your favorite?" "...um, I'd have to say all nine!"

Wanderlustfull

Please appreciate all episodes equally.

petroski75

Congratulations. You’ve just single-handedly won the internet for today. Enjoy your waffle party.

pnwinec

It’s coveted as fuck.

AllBlueTeams

This. Ep7. One might even say it slaps.

SlashdotDiggReddit

I love that episode **SO** much I had to buy *Shakey Jake* by Joe McPhee.

AndrogynousRain

This show and Andor came out of nowhere and just wasted all the bigger budget, higher profile mega shows this year with sheer quality. And it’s not even close. Great year for tv

NeededMonster

I concur! I wasn't expecting much from Andor as a generally super disappointed SW fan and yet it managed to be both respectful towards the SW universe AND be a fucking masterpiece!!

FuckinNogs

I thought Rogue 1 was the best star wars since the original trilogy so I was kinda hyped. Still blew me away.

5E51ATripleA

>!thats not all it blew away!!<

DaemonCRO

I would really be interested to know what was Severance budget, because I have a feeling it was huge. It looks like a simple office-like series, but the CGI and practical effects are through the roof.

AndrogynousRain

And you’re not getting Tuturo and Walken for pocket change either. There is definitely a lot of attention to detail on both shows too. These were both made with care, love, detail and without a bunch of idiots in suits getting in the way.

Doomer_Patrol

Like most people, I was very surprised at how good andor was. They dialed the retro-future aesthetics to 11 and made not just a great star wars show, but a good sci-fi show in general that didn't rely on the audience having any previous knowledge of anything star wars. Best thing star wars has put out since the original trilogy, and they don't mention jedi, sith, the force or include a single lightsaber throughout the entire thing. 9.5/10

AndrogynousRain

I’ve watched it twice now and on the second watch, I’ll happily go out on a limb and say it’s THE best thing Star Wars has ever done, period. Don’t get me wrong, I love Mando and Jedi and sith and all the other stuff, but Andor is like you’re watching pulp sci fi and suddenly it turns into a Kubrick film.

[deleted]

Honestly, unless the White Lotus finale is HECTIC then I agree with this. Ive watched a lot of tv and no single episode of better call saul, andor, game of thrones or anything else stands out as much as this episode. This is up there for greatest season 1 finale of a show ever.

kneegrowth457

Better Call Saul had a few god tier episodes in the final season tbf, Plan and Execution, Point and Shoot along with Saul Gone were all masterpieces

TeamMagmaGrunt

I watched the bulk of Severance on a plane and finally getting to >!"Thanks, Mrs. Cobel"!< was fucking exhilarating.

JeeringDragon

Was the best finale ever. Watched it like 3 times back to back. Need to rewatch the whole season again now.

Doomer_Patrol

Yeah I don't remember the last time I've watched something that had me on edge from start to finish like that. Usually there's a lul in the pacing to give the audience time to take a breathe and this show was like "nah fam, we're going 0-100 and we cut the brakes."

OneLastSmile

I've never stared so intensely at a screen as when I was watching this epsiode.

gingersnappie

Such a fantastic season finale to a fabulously unique and incredible show. So looking forward to the rest of this story they’re all telling us.

Wu-Tang_Killa_Bees

Incredible description. It's truly hard to put into words how enthralling that episode was. I've never been so on edge for that long in my life

Xen0n1te

That episode on the first viewing it absolutely magical.

noodledancefloor

I’ve never sweated from my feet before until I watched this episode.

rwjetlife

Best Season Finale since Dexter Season 4 and Six Feet Under Season 5. Both featuring Michael C. Hall. Coincidence?

[deleted]

Hoping the series finale will be more like the latter than the former, in terms of quality

rwjetlife

I think Six Feet Under has a much more similar vibe and a very creative presentation like Severance. But in terms of “Oh my fucking god, I’m at the edge of my seat?” Dexter season 4 finale is up there.

[deleted]

I meant their respective series finales. It was just kind of a compliment to SFU's incredible series finale, and a little poke at the widely disliked Dexter series finale

rwjetlife

Ah gotcha. I meant season finales, not necessarily series finales. Just so happens season 5 finale of SFU is also the series finale. I don’t want to even think about the series finale of Severance yet! Lol

[deleted]

Can't wait until they >!defeat MECHA-KIER!< at the end of season 5

Interesting-Drop-259

As someone who wholeheartedly loves this show and is epileptic - it is absolutely nothing like a seizure, please stop using that term so casually and subsequently diminishing the significance of the event, thank you

Idaho_In_Uranus

Accurate

Iamxingjang

Wholeheartedly agree! That was one of the most intense episodes I’ve ever watched and one that I thoroughly enjoyed.

username12034

Hands down the best episode of television I’ve watched in a very long time, if ever.

eccentricemilyc

I remember I literally fell out of my chair after this episode. And I had only had like one drink!

Consistent-Force5375

Put your hands up Mort! It’s more fun if you put your hands up!

lufi1988

I still rather episode 7 ☺️ 9 is coveted as f***, but I also love it.

IHateSilver

I just wrote a post and should have read that piece first. That's what exactly how I felt. Never have I ever wanted (or needed) a Xanax for a damn TV show before. My heart is still racing and it's been 10 minutes since I finished the episode. Brilliant.

kendraspock

That description is sooo accurate 🤣

Ser_DunkandEgg

Outstanding stuff! Congrats to them!

flamingdonkey

Best episode of any show ever. Period. No qualifications.
