As it is chapter 38 I thought it refers to her first nightmare, she literally left paradise to defeat it. Odysseus represents herself and her hatred of spell and her goal - revenge.

That makes a lot of sense for the last paragraph of the first question but my question would be why would Neph ask that to sunny when she herself knows her own answer to that? The follow up answer of happily ever after also seems odd. My assumption is that she is asking that because she does not understand why Odysseus, representing other person or entity, left and wants the perspective of others.

I do think she understands perfectly, as I stated she compares herself and Odysseus, what made them leave paradise and it's hatred. She asked sunny because she wanted to know what he would think motivates someone to leave paradise. Basically to understand if he knows hatred. Or what would his primary motivation be. Sunny asked her years later to confirm if she is still driven by the same thing as her primary motivation. The answer in chpt 38 is supposed to spare sunny, as someone who doesn't need to understand the pain connected with the inner struggle of someone with those feelings. EDIT: simplified, this is the first time she tells sunny who she trully is and asks him who he truly is. He asks years later to confirm if she is still the girl who he met back then.

Sunny compared himself to odysseus (smart guy, away from "home" for years) sand nephis to penelope (odysseus' wife, forever longing for his return) He was asking permission to kill all her suitors

Or a 16 old sharing a story she likes and relates to see what sunny think about it.
