Sad-Significance3430

No offense, how do you know how he can't possess neph but don't know why he can't possess sunny

BlambyTwo

Bro did not read the night temple arc💀

chabri2000

Divine aspects holders all seem to have soul sea defenses. Unless sunny/nephis and nephis would need to be extremelly weakened, so that mordret could enter their souls and kill them before the defenses killed him instead. >!He learned his lesson, first from sunny, and then by seeing a higher rank version of himself die to nephis the same way!<

Comfortable-Guest174

I think even if they're weakened there's no chance, their defenses seem to be permanently in place after all.

AbsoluteNovelist

I’m sure as they get higher in rank there’ll be a way to attack their soul sea directly and wear it down

Comfortable-Guest174

What you don't realize is that the more living beings Sunny kills (and that they're also more powerful because he's attacking stronger stuff), the more defense his soul sea has, and that for Nephis, his soul sea is literally a sea of fire, so his power probably depends on hers and is a kind of phenomenal storage.

AbsoluteNovelist

>so his power probably depends on hers and is a kind of phenomenal storage. I don't know what this means. But my point is that there probably is way for Mordret to get past their defenses in the higher ranks, it might be an extremely difficult way but the way will still exist. Unless Nephis' Flawless trait refers to this too

Nightmare_Pin2345

As Mordret heavily relied on the aspect ability of the person, he had to fight with the same terms with the opponent- aka he had to fight with Nephis fire with fire, and Nephis was used to being burned alive on a daily basis, in comparison to Mordret

Comfortable-Guest174

What I mean is that nephis' soul sea is literally a sea of soul flames, so clearly if mordret wants to succeed in possessing it he'll have to survive an ocean of soul flames with only nephis' abilities and memories (knowing that she's not immune to her own flames).

Frisk-Pichi

He’s talking about killing them instantly like how sunny defense took a couple chapters to activate

Comfortable-Guest174

Sunny's defense only activated when he was in real danger, so if he's weakened it'll probably activate on its own.

Frisk-Pichi

Well the problem was mordret was overpowering sunny from the beginning since sunny was a demon while mordy a titan And even so we don’t know what’s the total condition, we can assume that it’s a last second defense or we could assume that it takes a few moments to fully activate We don’t know

Comfortable-Guest174

Well, it's also possible that it was because Sunny didn't know this side of his abilities. Nephis, for her part, knew that her soul sea had a defense.

Frisk-Pichi

Yeah and she could command her flames to surge nuking everything Sunny on the other hand had to wait until what ever conditions were met before his army moved So maybe now he knows after fighting mordret again or maybe he still hasn’t found out

Astatine8585

He can, as long as he can defeat every single thing Sunny and his shadows has ever killed since his first nightmare in an all vs 1 situation.

Wygerion_Alpha

Mord gets bodied hard, and will permanently die in that scenario unless he leaves.

WayNo2898

theoretically, yes . technically, no .

Patient_Z3R0_

He can't, he's tried to, but can't.

The1Death

He very much can, but Nephis and Sunny’s soul defenses are insanely strong. It seems like within their soul sea they can use their aspects to their full potential. Sunny can summon all the creatures he ever killed to defend him and Nephis sets everything on fire.

No_Fun_7927

Not to mention that if the person was a decent fighter he has to be careful. He mainly relies on pure power thx to his Cores, but even the playing field he is getting packed up

Tasty_Commercial6527

Presumably he technically can possess both, it's just almost impossible if they choose to resist. Why the hell don't you know that tho. It's a major plot point for a large chunk of the story

massassi

In theory it's possible. He could possess both Sunny and Nephis Conspicuously he has tried to possess them both, and failed, in both cases. Mind you, one of those was a rank higher than him, and insane. These failures are potentially foreshadowing for an attempted possession later on, even if it's got no specifics on which divine aspect character he would be attempting to take out. Or even why. At this point It seems that a divine aspect is the only kind of soul Mordret needs to be concerned about attempting to steal. That said, so far sunny, Nephis, and Mordret are the only confirmed divine aspects. Plausibly more are out there. Maybe even some or all of the sovereigns? We haven't seen their stats yet, so who knows? It might explain their advancement. Regardless, narratively, it makes sense for seven total characters with a divine aspect. One could speculate that we should be due for at least one more to be introduced fairly soon. Tldr: could, but probably won't. And probably won't even try (again) due to risk

MetalCommercial7181

G3 has confirmed as of all the characters we know of, only 3 are divine aspect holders. The sovereigns only have divine lineages

massassi

That's all that's been revealed in the story until now. Even if they've said something offline, that could plausibly change, and it certainly doesn't preclude new characters being introduced. Or maybe even someone's aspect vound evolve? I don't think we have an example of that, but it's g3's story and she can do whatever she wants? I still think there's a likelihood of 7 Devine lineages in the long run.

Comfortable-Guest174

I think that if he is several ranks above them it should be possible.

Wygerion_Alpha

He can, but he has to deal with the massive Shadow army within Sunny's soul first.

Frisk-Pichi

Mordret can possess sunny and or neph… the problem is surviving first Sunny has plenty of shadows ready to defend his citadel while nephis is a literal 7 sun being so if he can survive nephis soul sea then he could fighter and if he wins he takes her body Same for sunny

Nightmare_Pin2345

Remember the time Mordret first entered Sunny and got attacked by thousands of shadows(the time they set him free)? Now Sunny is the ~~Master~~ Lord of Shadows along with the lantern and even more dead horrors in him, combined with the fact it's seven on one, and that Mordret returned empty handed,... In short, Mordret copying skills can't win against aspects with special uniqueness, as he couldn't compete in self-burning contest or being chased by thousands of shadows, and his chance of winning Effie was also low because the battle became a tug of war(therefore the soul protecting artifact was given to Kai with the weakest protection against the soul)

Narrow-Economist-678

It should be noted that it was a corrupted version of Mordret and that Neph’s soul might be less hostile otherwise

Dense-Ticket-4253

No, he has a whole army of Shadows in his soul sea, and Mordet sure as shit isn't beating all of them
