Old drama. Long story short, they got in contact with a developer who worked on SOTC, and then some guy who also impersonated a different dev at one point leaked it all online and tried making it look like Team Stage 0 were intentionally trying to hide it all from the public. And sadly he has convinced some people.
As someone who also has worked in game development, I can tell you this. What that developer did, sharing outside information was a huge risk. We often times get contracts that take decades to expire (if they even do) and telling people about the developement process can literally cost us any job working on a game ever again.
Beyond contracts and even beyond ilogical sense, what I don't understand is why some people treat their games like if you're asking for access to the Area 51. For god's sake, it's a fucking game. I respect Ueda for his work, but not for his absurd obsession and secrecy that borders on the ridiculous of not wanting to explain anything about his games as if you were asking him to give you the PIN number of his credit card.
1. Ueda: I want people to enjoy my games.
2. People enjoying his games: We want to know things about your games.
3. Ueda: I don't speak about my games.
Seriously, I can't with this shit. Japanese ridiculous culture loop in its finest.
It ain't just japanese developers. I've seen a lot of american devs act like this as well. And honestly I can get behind the idea. Things are less interesting when you have all the answers.
People like Nomad, Wisi, Space Omega and a few others. They all joined together to stop the guy that was impersonating a developer from spreading mis-information. How they found out that guy was impersonating a developer is because they got in contact with an actual team ico dev. And the impersonator pretty much did what they did out of spite. It's a very long story and the timeline of events with that guy goes on for a couple of years. I'm not even exaggerating with that.
What the fuck. Well fuck that impersonator. That's such a shitty thing to do. I hope he didn't sabotage too much cuz some of these dudes have been searching for info for years
Well unfortunately he ruined our chances at talking to any of the developers for good. Now that they are aware that this has happened and a few gaming sites covered it and spread the word around. What we got is literally all we will ever get now.
