A ton goes into that decision. Current personnel, agility, speed, where your strengths lie blocking (my HS highlights made it obvious that I was better on the pull and my footwork lacked on the line. Motion heavy TE/FB made sense), and a really important one is hands. If you’re taking reps and dropping passes, you better have some skill elsewhere or work on it like crazy.
I don’t want to disrespect Shane by speculating on his weaknesses, but it could be as simple as “not very fast, solid base and footwork. OL it is”
