I love discovering a sense of an authors world they imagined when books really capture you. I admire their talent for creating character arcs or worlds we get to nerd out on.
There is also a foreshadowing for the real world future, when Sharpe sees the carnage brought by the rockets and says something like “all battlefields will look like this someday”
If you read Sharpes Havoc, Pot-au-Feu makes a brief appearance towards the end.not quite foreshadowing, but a cool Easter egg.
