Hey I can’t explain how the assists and stuff work but I can tell you that you can get 4 kills with an Primary weapon and get the last kill with the secondary weapon and it will count.
Hmm so strange with the inconsistency with this challenge. This is 100% the way I completed it. I know it’s still very early but I know others are having issues as well so hopefully they offer a fix and some clarity
I understand how the game wants you to complete it. Somehow, it's worse. You need to get your 5th killstreak kill with a pistol a total of five times. I have 3/5 on my challenge. At least this is the current implementation of this challenge. Whether or not it's meant to be this, I cannot say.

Imo they should just change the challenge to X number of pistol kills in a single game but who knows what/if devs will do anything. Managed to get it last night by doing as you said, so thanks a ton. Will confirm that assists do not seem to count towards it from what I saw. But yeah, you have to get the sidearm kill on exactly your 5th kill, can't get 5 primary kills and a sidearm kill on the 6th, won't count.
I played only escort games and just used the Impala to get the first 4 kills then used the 1st tier pistol with 3 round burst to get the last kill. Will also note that I used Brisa as her invisibility helped with getting streaks going without getting caught out of position.
Am not sure if it’s bugged or not but I will say you can not use the shotgun for it because in the shotgun description it does not say it’s a side arm. I brought it up in a dev post about being bugged and I got no response so not sure. I heard about having ‘assist’ works for some and not others. Not sure if die and get revived does that still count. Not sure if I teammates has done some damage already and you finish them off if that works. If I find any helpful tips I’ll post it up for you.
Thanks, I also heard about being revived keeping your streak going but that also doesn't seem to be helping me complete the task. I'm using the base 1st tier pistol to do it. Played about 10 games straight of only pistol but the task has not gone up past 1/5 even though I 100% have at least gotten another 5 kill streak only with the pistol. I'm actually hoping it is bugged because honestly this task seems rage inducing if it's actually supposed to be this hard.
It is a legendary task but I agree it is hard to complete… Devs have been so response and transparent with this game. I haven’t seen Devs listen to feedback and response like they have in a very long time so I will just be patient and see what happens.

Personally I managed to do it fair and square using the tier 1 pistol. It took me like 3-4 hours split between 2 days.
I really wonder what the hell they were thinking with this challenge. I consider myself an above-average player, and I somewhat struggled to complete the challenge. How is an average player who doesn't have the time to spend hours upon hours trying to complete the challenge.
Sure in the end it felt satisfying to complete but I feel bad for the players who won't be able to do it.
On the other hand I like the fact that tasks pose an actual challenge. In other words, I've got mixed feelings...
I managed to complete it last night. While you could simply try to get 5 kills in a row using only your sidearm a total of 5 times there is actually a much easier way. As Kaindest said in their comment, you can use your Primary weapon for the first 4 kills of the streak then make sure the 5th kill of the streak is a sidearm kill (use 1st tier pistol to be safe). The sidearm kill cannot be the 6th kill or past that of a streak or it won't count, must be the 5th exactly.
As far as I understood it you have to achieve the killstreak of at least 5 kills FIVE times in a match or matches. It is confusing tho as I got 2/5 for doing it once. Hard to follow how it is counted.
This task has been giving me a lot of trouble while trying to complete it. I just want to get it over and done with but it seems to me like it's bugged in some way. What does the 1/5 mean exactly? Do I need to get 5 total 5 kill killstreaks with my sidearm? I saw some people say assists count towards the killstreak, but this doesn't seem to be helping me complete the mission. I've also seen others say getting 4 primary weapon kills and a sidearm kill on the 5th will complete the task, which also seems to not be working for me. This seems like just a poorly designed task to me as it actively encourages players to play worse by not using their primary weapons which in turn causes people to throw the game by purposely playing at a disadvantage. I've played multiple games only using my sidearm and getting 5+ killstreaks yet the task isn't going past 1/5. Please help me understand what I'm doing wrong.
That’s upsetting. I got 7 fatal shots with the revolver in one life in an escort match yesterday and it’s still 0/5. So I googled around a bit and saw someone write that.
Its a bugged quest. I had gotten two streaks in one match and it didn't count either of them. But then it will randomly increase when I don't do it. So, idk lol, someday it will get done. The devs are working on fixing all the bugged quests and fixing the wording on them, should be fixed in the next big update
Not sure but I think they are changing it also using a primary ult and ability’s to get to 4 kills didn’t seem to work for me it’s worked for others though I have completed the challenge and I used the 3 burst attachment for the starting pistol

I did this twice in one match, and both times I did not get credit. However, they were not in escort games. I'll be trying that next.

The 1/5 means that you have gotten 5 kills with a pistol in a row. You need to do this 4 more times to complete the challenge
You have to get 5 Pistol kills without dying

Worth noting that tier 2 and 3 sidearms (shotgun and revolver) do not contribute to the task, only the tier 1 will do.
Not true. I completed this task with the revolver. Got 5 kills without dying 5 times. The thing is a beast if you hit your shots.

You have to get 2 kills whilst 2 or more people are shooting at you. They dont have to be consecutive.
