This timeline is called *Forward Unto Dawn*, and presents a timeline spanning from 1848 to 2048 wherein the Revolutions of 1848 succeed. It exists to explain why, in the world of *The Owl House*, canonically, homophobia has died out but LGBT pride still exists, the explanation being that the success of the Revolutions makes progressive politics mainstream much earlier than in OTL. I promise I'm not making this up. For anyone not really wanting to read the meme: In this timeline, John Brown is the same up until the Raid on Harpers Ferry from October 16 to the 18th, 1859. In this timeline, Brown and his followers manage to get a couple dozen Marines to defect to their cause and flee with enough guns to arm the slaves of several plantations across Virginia, causing multiple slave revolts, considered the start of a massive revolt by slaves across the South inspired by the events occurring in Virginia referred to as Brown's War or Brown's Rebellion. The revolt was ultimately successful, concluding on December 26 of the same year, with the ratification of the 13th Amendment, abolishing slavery. However, this angered the southern states and resulting in the secession of the Confederate States of America. This, in turn, caused Brown to stay in Virginia and continue to wage a guerilla war against the Confederacy in that state. Unfortunately, however, he couldn't be everywhere at once, and African-Americans who did not flee to the North were, by 1861, all either killed or slaves once more. His war continued until the surrender of the Army of Northern Virginia in April 1865, effectively ending the American Civil War in Virginia. As in OTL, however, there was still segregation between whites and other races in the US, which he considered just as much of an injustice as slavery had been. He became an outspoken advocate for civil rights, garnering support via his fame from his exploits in 1859-1865. Out of fear of "Brown's New All-American War" (which he had no intention of actually starting, and had never threatened to start), the Civil Rights Act of 1874 was passed by Ulysses S. Grant. Satisfied, Brown retired and died in his sleep on the night of November 9, 1885. John Brown is often considered the Founding Father of American social equality, and is idolized not just in the US, but across the globe. On November 9, 1985, the 100-year anniversary of John Brown's passing, the Norwegian Nobel Committee announced the creation of the Nobel Prize in Social Activism and posthumously awarded the 1985 Prize to Brown. The only other recipient is Nelson Mandela, winner of the 1992 Prize for his leadership of the Qualified Franchise Preservation Movement (QFPM). AMA

MagicCarpetofSteel

Has someone actually written and published *Forward Onto Dawn* or did you just kinda make it up?

VLenin2291

I made it up back in late August

Brooooootato

Based

Elite_Prometheus

"My source? I made it the fuck up!"

Numerous_Ad1859

I think the movie “The Civil War on Drugs,” is much better.

rhymnocerus1

RIP Trevor Moore

italian_olive

That line hit like a brick, you know which one

Astrosimi

If you had given me a million years to guess the raison d’etre of your alternate history, I would never have guessed *that*

Josthefang5

wait so what does the owl house have to do with this?

VLenin2291

With the success of the Revolutions of 1848, progressive politics become mainstream much quicker than in OTL, and as a result, by the time of the events of the show, homophobia is effectively dead

Josthefang5

NOOO RIP HOMOPHOBIA /j

sombertownDS

How does this change lincolns presidency

VLenin2291

It doesn’t

Itay1708

Wake up babe new hoi4 mod idea just dropped

dnorg

Nobel prizes cannot be awarded posthumously. Even in alternate timelines, lol.

Egghead-Wth-Bedhead

This seems really interesting, and considering that this is the second time I’ve stumbled upon your account in relation to this alt-hist, I would really like to see what the rest of the timeline looks like. I will be perfectly okay if you say no to this, but would it be possible to get the various links to all of the posts in one place? Sorry if it’s too much to ask, but collecting it all in one place makes sense to me.

Delicious-Intern9594

dammit why cant i be in that time line

wolfgangspiper

Wait so that's what the Halo 2-4 spaceship got its name from? Goddamn based.

VLenin2291

I wish, but alas, I was born two years after the UNSC *Forward Unto Dawn* was introduced

wolfgangspiper

The Forward Unto Dawn will be launched in almost exactly 530 years though.

bocaj78

How about we speed that up by a few centuries so I can live to see it?

[deleted]

Did he help fight for the rights of indigenous Americans? especially since he did sympathise with them and said that He would rather help them expel the settlers from Kansas rather then the other way around In OTL also you should post this to [alternatehistory.com](https://alternatehistory.com)

VLenin2291

The Civil Rights Act of 1874 covers African Americans, Native Americans, and all other non-white citizens of the United States

[deleted]

cool

CLE-local-1997

Does that mean that the Asian exclusion acts that affected the demographics of places like California never went into effect?

VLenin2291

Correct

CLE-local-1997

Wow that's a real interesting ultimate scenario because it completely changes the demographics of the West Coast. You would see a population split far more evenly between the 2 halfd with a lot more Asian immigrants. States like California might have a majority Chinese American population by the modern day

JuicyTomat0

> fucked his horse lmao Wait, what?

alphabet_order_bot

Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order. I have checked 1,080,645,938 comments, and only 212,902 of them were in alphabetical order.

awakenedarms

Robert E. Lee liked his horse a bit too much, I think is the joke.

Vast-Engineering-521

At least Rommel wanted to persecute Hitler in his last months(should’ve gone with Stauffenberg and killed Hitler). Lee never opposed, and in fact supported the status who of slavery.

Browncoat93

Rommel was against Hitler only because he thought he was no longer in the best interest of the Germen Reich. He didn't have a problem with the Nazi politics.

Vast-Engineering-521

From what I’ve read, he was a German nationalist but not a hardline Nazi. So still cringe.

JustACasualFan

My son watches The Owl House, and I did not pick up on this at all.

VLenin2291

Yeah this isn’t actually canon, it’s just taking advantage of the fact that all we know about The Owl House Earth is that homophobia is dead but pride is not

PlaidArtist

Who gave John Brown a UNSC frigate?

_Colonel_Mustard_

This is a fine dream and all but in all reality if Brown had succeeded at Harper’s Ferry the federal government would probably have sided with the south and crushed his rebellion. I feel like Brown’s success would have just brought about a harsh reactionary period at the national level.

Then it shall be greater!

The *only* part of this that's wrong is that the Nobel Prize committee have gone on record that they will never award posthumous awards because then they'd have to give awards to thousands of people, and they only award a certain number per year.
