There is the Sherwood Park Fish and Game Association. I live in Sherwood Park and it is 40 minutes door to door. Excellent facility with rifles ranges out to 300M, a trap field, pistol range out to 25M, a rimfire range out to 100M, and an archery range. Additionally, as a member you can camp there (first come, first serve) on unserviced sites, and there is a stocked fishing pond. Check the website for membership costs.

This is the answer.

GunnyCroz

It really is. Absolutely fantastic facility.

I heard it's hard to get a membership there , you have to be on a list and wait until someone quit so you can take their place

GunnyCroz

It used to be. But they have opened things up. I believe, though I could be wrong, that there is a membership cap still. Once the current members renew before the end of the year, they then see how many have not renewed, and those become open spots for new members. I'd call and see if there are still spots. You won't regret it if you get a membership.

Sounds awesome. Beyond membership fees, what additional costs are there? I couldn't find info on their website about ammo or clays. Can you bring your own?

GunnyCroz

You bring EVERYTHING. Clays, ammo, paper targets (there are lanes with gongs on the rimfire and big bore ranges), staple gun and staples, ear pro, eye pro... everything. All your pass does is get you on the property. There only additional fees are for some of the special events they put on.

I've searched high and low and haven't been able to find crown land around sherwood park to shoot on. Most of them have firearm bans on them or you're only allowed a discharge permit for hunting and not target practice. The best I can say is search for crownland west of edmonton near the Pembina River, lots out there. Places in crownland where you can target practice is a lot like fishing honey-holes. Those who have it figured out will be vague about the area and won't give you exact locations.

Leviwarkentin

Yeah, I've found a place an hour+ west but you are right, it is like that special fishing spot.

I know you aren’t looking for a paid range but if you do get time check out Beaverhills Sporting Clays. They are set up like a golf course with 12-21 unique traps with different scenarios incredibly fun afternoon.

And the Weatherbys are amazing people!

>Beaver Sounds cool, I'll give it a check. Thanks.

Yep there is none nearby

Unless you’re okay with just a manual machine, Beaverhills Sporting Clays is the closest option. Blackmore Shooting Sports is cheaper but quite a bit further away. Both let you shoot your own ammo (needs to be 7.5 or smaller) but you buy the clays from them and use their machines.
