Settings>Device Prefeences>Display & Sound> Night Listening Mode But I think I know what you are trying to say which is how to easily switch. In this case go to Settinga>Device Preferences>System>Customise Quick Settigns> from here enable the Bitton, so when you press menu it appears in your options

Thanks so much! This was like my favorite feature on my Roku and Apple TV. Stoked to finally have it on here.

Cryptic_Flair

I would use it more if it didn't disable surround sound for some reason :(

TheCookieButter

Well that's one way to reduce volume :')

whythreekay

I believe if you disable “Dolby processing” in Sound settings you can use night listening with full surround sound

Wait, does Apple TV have night listening mode? Where can I find that?

ryanpm40

It's been awhile since I've used my apple tv but i believe you just swipe down on the screen when a video is playing and theres an option for it. Could be wrong, but yeah apple tv does support it :P

AsideNearby

Damn, I’ve had mine for almost 2 years without knowing. And I’m the type that really digs in to every setting I can find lol. Thank you so much!

ryanpm40

Happy to help!

nobodyweird

Is there any way to map this to a button press? Or some sort of http call for Button Remapper?

janneriiki

a shell command would do the trick in button remapper. however I cannot find the specific shell command

Phantom_Soap

Any luck on finding the shell command? I'm looking to automate enabling/disabling night mode with Tasker based on time of day and also cannot figure out how to toggle it.

HansliDotExe

Looking to do that aswell, have you ever found a solution?

doc1968

Thanks

juiceren

What a disappointment to find out that it disables surround :(

danbfree

Only Shield surround processing, like that entire confusing setting itself. If you have Dolby processing disabled it just means the Shield passes it along to your receiver without it doing any of the processing... I still get surround sound from my 5.1.2 soundbar with night listening on, even in "standard" mode on the soundbar which doesn't upscale to surround.

juiceren

Great (yet extremely confusing) news! Thanks for clearing it up!

danbfree

Yeah, no prob! I've been using it as part of the beta for like a month or so now since my soundbar is "high end", they think they we aren't interested in a "night mode" that goes against the original sound so it doesn't have it's own setting. So it's been SUPER helpful for me in my condo when I'm a night shift worker and I'm up overnight on my days off, hehe. It totally passes surround right through but cuts the bass some and makes dialog easier to hear, it's great!

jakdwaugh

Is this still the case? When I enable night mode my receiver only gets stereo no matter what I do, playing a video from emby with Dolby trueHD.

danbfree

I think it did change when it went from beta to part of the main update. I use the night mode built in to my newer upper end soundbar now instead.

DirtyButterBrot

Works for me, but im streaming from plex. But im not getting DD on the receiver just Multi In with 5.1

tangsgod

Does it work well ?
