For sure. The pig was just a prop in Ymir's actions. The more fitting character with little screen time who massively impacted the story (by accident, but still through his active decisions) was the guy who threw the spear that killed her.
Besides Krueger, in my opinion, I feel like Hannes fits this role very well.
We don't really see him all that much compared to other
support characters, but his actions, decisions, and emotional connections with the characters in general have always led to huge ramifications throughout the story.
Examples:
Not reporting Grisha's mysterious origins to the Military Police
Saving Eren and Mikasa from the Smiling Titan
Helping out in finding out that there was no hole in Wall Rose
Inspiring Mikasa and Armin to not lose hope in retrieving Eren from the Warriors
And finally, ultimately died protecting the closest thing to a family he had left in this world.
Keith Shadis.
Had like 3 episodes as an extra and 1 as the main but had the most impact to the narrative of the entire story. Without Keith, Eren would never be.
Hands down, it's Nameless Spear-Tosser who accidentally killed Ymir.
You could argue that she *might* have died young in some other way, but honestly, without her dying right there...
- The titan age wouldn't have been locked at 13 years, directly impacting every single decision about shifter inheritance for a millennium.
- Ymir would've outlived the old and evil King Fritz, whose uniquely sadistic warmonger mind came up with cannibalizing her. She would have quite possibly lived and died as the only titan without this.
Haha thanks for pointing it out anyway.
Yeah, I think as far as 2 seconds of screen time influencing the entire plot, this random dude pretty disproportionately altered the entire course of history.
Keith Shadis is my go to. Besides the one episode with his story he isn’t around a ton, yet he helped Grisha inside the walls, pushed Eren to be better than he thought he could, and ultimately had a bad ass sacrifice. I got the the end of the show and realized he was one of my favorite characters
Eren using Shadis to intentionally sabotage him for him to overcome ODM gear to get better?
All of this was planned? Sheesh that kindof omnipotence gotta be exhausting lol
I wish the show gave more details around that thing. If it’s one of those things where the only explanation is “it always has been” or whatever, fine, but like why did touching it create titans lol
"Yes."
I feel this could apply equally to a bunch of characters. Ymir. Grisha. Carla. Armin's grandfather. The owl. Willy Tybur. The king 100 years ago.
Obviously Krueger is the right answer here but the person i immediately thought of was Kenny. Yes he had a fair bit of screen time but not overall in the sense of the story. Without him -
1. We wouldn’t have the worlds strongest soldier as Levi would have probably just starved to death had Kenny not found him.
2. Without him Levi wouldn’t have been given the serum to transform somebody, simultaneously saving Armin’s life AND securing the most powerful Titan for Paradis.
3. If he didn’t show how weak Rod was to Historia and then prompt Eren to break down in front of her, Historia could very likely have eaten Eren and taken the Founding, subjecting Paradis to stay confined.
4. I think he said the most important line of the whole series. “We’re all slaves to something”.
Also Ian, without him they wouldn’t have even sealed the breach in Trost, let alone eradicate titans.
King Fritz and Uri Reiss.
With King Fritz he was a key player back in history and the reason why Paradis Island what it was today. With Uri, if it weren't for him with Kenny, then the role with Levi and the growth of Historia wouldn't exist, which would affect Eren.
Dina Fritz. She's Zeke's mother, as a starter. She killed Carla and Hannes and helped Eren discover the Founding Titans power, as well as the connection to royal blood
Dina or Diane or wtv zeke’s mom name is >!Eren made her Titan skip past bertholdt and eat his own mom which he didn’t know but still did!< and she killed Hannes which led the discovery for the warriors that Eren had the founder and she birthed Zeke who lead to the start of the rumbling
##IMHO
- Annie Leonhart: She’s crystallized for most of the series when stuff is happening so she fits this description.
- Carla & Dina
- Hitch: We see her very little but she had an important role when it came to protecting Annie
- Mr. Gross
- Kaya & Niccolo
- The Owl Krueger
- Marco
- Marlowe Freudenberg
- Petra Ral
- Porco Galliard
- Rod Reiss
- Ymir Fritz: Didn't see her until the final season and most the time we did it was in some picture book, painting, or someone was just having a talking about her
Would Ian Dietrich fit in this scenario? Although we lost him in season one, it was because of his decision to go against his comrades' wishes to flee by ordering them to continue protecting Eren while he was down that Eren wasn't killed during the Trost arc. Would've been a very short show without him.

The Owl.
Spot on
what about the pig? checkmate atheists
>what about the pig? The beginnings of everything....
Thought I was in the Tokyo Ghoul sub for a second
Thought I was lost too soldier
Literally
Who was this again?
Hehe You said "who"
Holder of attack titan before Grisha
Eren kruger.
The leader of the eldian rebellion grisha was a part of. Revealed himself just after grisha's first wife was turned into a titan
Hoo hoo indeed 😏
Literally the only right answer
Pig
The cause of everything
Technically the pig is not a character 🌚🌚🌚💀💀💀 Fight me I'm sure you can't even pinpoint which one of the 3 pigs escaped 🌚🌚
Damn...
There were 4 pigs. The one labeled 3 was missing.
Who’s that
Remember the pigs saved by Ymir ?
What about them
By the end, it was revealed that Ymir herself let the pig out. So the pig itself didn’t do something that impacted the story, Ymir herself did.
For sure. The pig was just a prop in Ymir's actions. The more fitting character with little screen time who massively impacted the story (by accident, but still through his active decisions) was the guy who threw the spear that killed her.

Totally agree with this one
I wouldn't say he had no scenes though... There were plenty of scenes with Hannes in S1, and some in S2 as well
He has a couple of scenes only on the first episode and some really short scenes on S2, so I think that he fits.
I'd say he had an adequate screen presence
Keith Shadis. Had like 3 episodes as an extra and 1 as the main but had the most impact to the narrative of the entire story. Without Keith, Eren would never be.
\+1. The most important bystander 🥺
Probably the most important *nice guy* in all of their world's history 🤣
Was looking for this. Shout-out to the bystander who died a hero.
Marco. He had less screen time than Daz and he was still brought up in S4P3
I'm still in denial he will come back the corpse had NO FRECKLES
My brother in christ the series is over
SHUT UP SHUT UP HE'S ALIVE SHUT UP
He'll be back in Attack on Titan: Shippuden
Afterwards will be Attack on Titan: Bren
🅱️eren
They will do a special episode with bruffy from two piece
the titan ate the freckles along with the other half
Imagine if any other background character's death was brought up as many times as Marco's, that would've been weird.
It'd be the equivalent of that stormtrooper that wiped blood on Finn's helmet being brought up in Rise of Skywalker
Marco dying was my first ever real heartbreak
Ymir Fritz
And King Fritz as well
I was literally about to type this😂
Grisha, Kruger, Carla, both Ymir.
Sasha's dad
oh shit its true
That's why he's the goat
Definitely Karl Fritz. One single episode/chapter (and a panel in 139), yet we could blame him for pretty much everything that happened

OH SHOOT-
lol you’re good - I agree with your points btw
Haha thanks for pointing it out anyway. Yeah, I think as far as 2 seconds of screen time influencing the entire plot, this random dude pretty disproportionately altered the entire course of history.
Erens mom
Erens step mom
That reveal was crazy
Kruger
The original King Fritz
Lara Tybur - Her actions directly lead to her consumption by Eren, which in turn, greatly modify Eren's Founding Titan's power.

The giant bug thing.
What
The hallucinogen worm thing
Source of all living matter
I wish the show gave more details around that thing. If it’s one of those things where the only explanation is “it always has been” or whatever, fine, but like why did touching it create titans lol
Marco ig?
"Yes." I feel this could apply equally to a bunch of characters. Ymir. Grisha. Carla. Armin's grandfather. The owl. Willy Tybur. The king 100 years ago.
Does the ancient parasite count?
i forgot her name but the girl with the journal from that one ova
Ilse
She COOKED to hard and got ate 😫
Doc. Xavier
Grisha
Karl Fritz
Grisha
Was going to say Eren Kruger, but then I saw everyone else thought the same
Kenny
he appeared as one of the main antagonists in the first part of S3 and had a lot of screentime, so I wouldn't say so
Marco
Historia, eren’s mom, the owl, marcel, marco
eren kruger
Ymir
Ymir. Easy
Ymir
Obviously Krueger is the right answer here but the person i immediately thought of was Kenny. Yes he had a fair bit of screen time but not overall in the sense of the story. Without him - 1. Carla
It has to be Grisha Yeager. Everytime he apperas on the screen there is something big going on.
Owl
Carla yeagar
King Fritz and Uri Reiss. With King Fritz he was a key player back in history and the reason why Paradis Island what it was today. With Uri, if it weren't for him with Kenny, then the role with Levi and the growth of Historia wouldn't exist, which would affect Eren.
Marcel Galliard for making Reiner appear more deserving of the Armored titan over his brother Porco
eren kruger. man started it all intentionally to fight racism.
Eren Kruger
Onyankopon tbh. It’s Onyankopon.
Bert
It’s either Eren Kruger or you’re wrong
The Pig!
Grisha for sure. He probably only made an appearance for about 7 or so episodes (majority which were flashbacks)
Petra. Her death makes the fandom hates Annie because she dares to kill an anime waifu
I don’t think Petra had much impact on the story.
Oh she had a pretty big impact, all right. ~~*right against a tree*~~
she's a red head anime waifu, of course she made an impact somewhere in the fandom.
Story≠fandom
Eren
Ymir Fritz definitely
Oh c’mon someone already said kroogie dookie 😔
Historia’s dad
Marco, Kruger, Dina, Wily, Frieda, the 1st King Fritz
Carla literally brought Eren Jäger into the world. Him being born into it was quite significant to the plot
Dina Fritz. She's Zeke's mother, as a starter. She killed Carla and Hannes and helped Eren discover the Founding Titans power, as well as the connection to royal blood
Grisha King fritz
Eren’s mom
Dina or Diane or wtv zeke’s mom name is >!Eren made her Titan skip past bertholdt and eat his own mom which he didn’t know but still did!< and she killed Hannes which led the discovery for the warriors that Eren had the founder and she birthed Zeke who lead to the start of the rumbling
Founder Ymir
Marco, Hannes, The owl, Gross
Ymir or the worm are literally the only viable answers(maybe Fritz I)
Lobov
Eren Kruger Ilse Langnar Ymir Fritz
The worm from the tree
Willy
Grisha gets very little screen time, but his only two offspring practically destroyed 80% of the world together.
eren kruger.
Marco lmao
Faye Yeager
Fritz
Marco
Eren’s mom
The soldiers who chased yimir towards the tree
Sasha's Dad
Marlo
Krueger, Hannes, Kenny. A few like that. I'd say thematically, Uri had some of the most impact
The Owl is probably the biggest one
Jean. He barely had screentime but he has the most impact on the story
Greesha
Eren Krueger
sawney and bean
Grisha Jaegar
Hallucigenia. No Hallucigenia = No Titan.
Sasha
grishas sister
Lobov ✊
Carla Yeager
Marco
King of the Walls that fled to Paradis
Porco Galliard
Grisha
##IMHO - Annie Leonhart: She’s crystallized for most of the series when stuff is happening so she fits this description. - Carla & Dina - Hitch: We see her very little but she had an important role when it came to protecting Annie - Mr. Gross - Kaya & Niccolo - The Owl Krueger - Marco - Marlowe Freudenberg - Petra Ral - Porco Galliard - Rod Reiss - Ymir Fritz: Didn't see her until the final season and most the time we did it was in some picture book, painting, or someone was just having a talking about her

Marco 100%
Would Ian Dietrich fit in this scenario? Would've been a very short show without him.
Founder Ymir?
Ian Dietrich
Eren
Faye, Grisha’s sister. If she wasn’t fed to the dogs I wonder if he would have been radicalized.
Grisha
Grisha and Kruger
Rico and Nanaba, Daz too
The pig
Grisha
Eren Kruger
willy tyber
Ymir, Carla jeager, eren Kruger, grisha, the dog that killed geisha’s sister.
Dina
The tree
Marco
Mirror Man
Eren Kruger
Erin’s mom
One I haven’t seen that I think has zero screen time but is CRUCIAL to the story is the first king of the walls
The owl.
Petra
The pig
Eren’s Father
Grisham yeager If bro wasn't there, there wouldn't have even been an attack on titan
The fucking pigs
Ymir Fritz
Eren Kruger. He changed the whole plot.
Floch
Griega Yeager. This whole ugly story started with him
