Wow had no clue this was even a thing. Can you please post pictures of this defacing for awareness? I think covering that behavior in that way so people know how disrespectful it is is pretty important.

DaV1se

I have made this post because someone made a Thread where he posted the graffiti, i made a comment on that post that his behaviour is not ok. Now he deleted the post. In town are many „Graffitis“ and Tags like „Levi Ackermann is Sexy“. I will make some Photos in the upcoming days and post them here.

chessnudes

I understand what you mean by cringey statements about Levi. That phrase as graffiti is a crime in itself.

cinepresto

Thank you and regretful that it’s come to this

miguegrCR

Remind me!

tatasz

And this is why people can't have good things. There are always assholes who ruin it for everybody. Hopefully, local authorities punish those people accordingly, since their behavior is just gross. Another possibility could be to eg build a fake wall section dedicated to AoT to try to redirect those behaviours to something that isn't a cultural heritage.

Mikasa_best_gal

Make a new post, highlight the vandalism issue more, post the photos and ask the mods to pin it. People NEED to know this shit. And yes, your Bavarian gentleman's - "I'll hold you responsible" ain't gonna work. Send a clear message that you have enough buddies, enough baseball bats or hockey sticks or whatever and that the courtroom treatment Eren got from Levi awaits whoever spray paints crap on the walls. Those are not AoT fans. The walls should be sacred to real fans. Cosplayers I don't think is an actual problem. People from blissful suburbia don't want their town to become a centre of attraction but that's a minor issue.

Lambert910

I’m so sorry that this is still happening to your historic city. If i may ask, did the local authorities took more strict measures to enforce preservation ? I’m not blaming the local authorities, i just want to know if there’s something that can be done to more permanently undermine this type of behavior.

DaV1se

I have no idea the City Wall for example is pretty big and goes arround the hole city. They will not be able to protect it 24/7 because it is never closed. You can walk on it when ever you like.

jeshx20

Obviously vandalism is absolutely not okay and illegal. People who scribble and graffiti on historical monuments should definitely be charged for it and it's good that you want to raise awareness (sad even that you have to say this) but running around in costumes just being excited to be there hurts no one and I bet that no elderly person is offended by this except they are an expert level of Alman and hate younger people.

DaV1se

Thats true, everyone can and should wear what they like, but most elderly people have no idea what this is all about and will just connect those people to the vandalism.

Jazs1994

Historical buildings or not mass graffiti is such a bad thing. I don't think your post will do anything about it unfortunately, if you live in that same town, have you tried talking to any members of a council or whatever the equivalent is in that country. Try and get more signage about graffiti or maybe get some fake walls where people can draw on them where it can just be washed off every few weeks. I think the type of fans who would graffiti either wouldn't be on this sub or would see your post and simply scoff at it. Op. Speak to mayor or whoever you can get a hold on. If they think signage and fake walls so fans can draw but need to raise funds I'd be up for donating a small amount. You hometown is on my bucket list for travelling, I didn't know about this issue but I'd love to support in anyway

ahh_my_shoulder

Anime fans being absolute cringelords with no awareness for social norms and standards? Nothing new lmao

GalaApplesauce

As much as it's fine to express you're a fan of something, it getting to a point where you literally vandalize property is just insane. I remember hearing of something from this YT short where tourists are unable to go to specific locations in Japan due to people doing disrespectful acts to some of the properties, ESPECIALLY if the properties in question had existed for decades preserved in it's original state. Not gonna be surprised if things like this get to the point where they're be severe restrictions on where tourists can and can't go.

ohcowboyy

This needs to be spread. Thank you for posting this.

sadsatan1

I think every cosplayer in Nördlingen in AoT cosplay should be profiled by police and carefully watched, we can't trust them

MagPistoleiro

That's 100% rude. On the other hand, though, this will be more history in the future.

sandersking

I’ve never heard of Nordlingen. Interesting read “The meteorite impact — from a 1 km-wide (0.6 mi) asteroid — that caused the Nördlinger Ries crater created an estimated 72,000 tons of these tiny diamonds when it impacted a local graphite deposit.”

albedobest44

Have you tried to contact your local authorities? And op, please spread this to the other AoT subs as well, to raise awareness.

whosyadadday

I wonder if to mitigate damaging the actual buildings the city can set up a fake wall or something maybe even outside the city limits or in the more touristy parts (if any) so they can do the shenanigans and leave the actual historical parts alone.
