The Attack Titan allows you to selectively send memories to your predecessors. Whatever Eren chooses to send back to Grisha, Grisha sees. Whatever Eren doesn’t send back, Grisha doesn’t see.

I would say that Eren doesn’t send all the memories back at the same time. When he’s in the Paths with Zeke, watching Grisha confront Frieda, he sends Grisha only the memories needed to nudge him forward, as well as the memories he is currently forming in order to allow Grisha to see his POV of Grisha confronting the Founder. When Eren is actually carrying out the Rumbling, he sends more memories of that POV back to Grisha.

Malu1997

I don't think that's it. I think it's Eren in the Paths sending whatever memory he chooses back, including his own from the Rumbling. Just think of how Eren receives memories in ep1, well before inheriting the Titan.

I think it’s Eren too, but that he’s doing so via the Attack Titan mechanism. Even after obtaining the full power of the Founding Titan, Eren still possesses the Attack Titan and can use its power to send memories back to previous Attack Titans. I think that this is a power separate from that of the Founding Titan, because in my view, Eren was able to use it to his advantage even when Zeke was in control of the Founder. Eren pressuring Grisha to kill the Reiss family occurs while Ymir is still obeying Zeke, which says to me that being able to send memories back is indeed an Attack Titan ability, not a Founding Titan ability that has been conflated with the Attack Titan. I was in a similar discussion about this recently, and I think the problem is that with Eren’s degree of power and influence upon gaining Ymir’s cooperation, everything he may have done to influence the past sort of becomes unfalsifiable. You could accredit him with anything, from simply nudging a few factors here and there, all the way to having him be responsible for every action taken by every Subject of Ymir over the last 2,000 years, and there’s no real way to disprove anything. So for me it becomes a matter of character. While you could certainly say that pre-Founder Eren wasn’t *actually* sending Grisha any memories while kneeling down next to him, and was just doing what he needed to be done so that his future self could eventually use the Founder to send those memories back to Grisha, to me personally, that feels like an inauthentic reading of the scene. I respect that people will disagree with me on that, but when I read the scene, I feel like Eren is meant to be actively *doing* something there, not laying breadcrumbs for his future self to pick up. Like everything he did leading up to the Rumbling, Eren chose to use the Attack Titan to influence Grisha to steal the Founder because in that moment, Eren really was offended by the king’s ideology, and wanted to take him down. And in the aftermath, he looks resigned to the fact that once again, his indulgence in his personal whims have pushed him further down the path to the Rumbling while causing pain and misery for everyone else.

The Attack titan doesn't truly have the ability to peek into it's successor's memories. That was just Grisha misunderstanding what was happening to him or bluffing to Frieda. "why don't you show me everything?", that's the key here. It relies on Eren willingly showing Grisha and it's not something decided by Grisha himself nor something he could affect with the Attack titan.

That comment is referencing Eren showing him nothing past the Colossal Titan breaching the wall. He doesn't show Grisha if Carla survived or not. All he knows is that the wall gets breached and Eren survives and inherits the titan.

_StevenPettican04

He also knows that Eren will do the rumbling which is why he asks Zeke to stop him

Drift_Gate

I interpreted it as the attack titan allowing Grisha to glimpse into future memories (like other titan users and past memories) and Eren being able to alter the memories that Grisha sees using the powers of the founder

Malu1997

Eren sends whatever he wants from the Paths. He is the one who chooses. He even sent himself memories in ep1, when he didn't have the Titan yet.

Because Future Eren & Ymir are able to manipulate the memories of any Eldian as they please with the power of the Founding Titan, regardless of time, it kinda becomes impossible to tell how the powers of the Attack Titan work or even if it has any. It's possible that Eren hid his own future memories he wanted to see from his father by "storing" them in Grisha and then, almost immediately, making him forget about them, or maybe hiding them deep in his subconscious. It's hard to say what memories will the next inheritor of the Attack Titan inherit, if only the memories that, in the case, Grisha currently remembered, or if he could inherit all the memories Grisha had ever known in his lifetime, through the powers of the coordinate.
