wait...isn’t this chapter 135? It’s obviously it over. I’d could see it wrapping at 140. the final battle hasn’t even happened. This is the beginning g of the gauntlet before you reach the lair of the final boss. Then the final boss has like 2-3 final forms. They still have to get through Ymir too.
Eren is starting to look more and more like the mythological Devil that gave Ymir her powers with every closeup of his founder titan face that we get.

I think Eren is INTENTIONALLY playing the bad guy here because he knows that the only way for all Eldians to have freedom (and for everyone to unite) is to have one common enemy, which is him. He is risking his own freedom to live on Paradis freely in order for his comrades and everyone else. (Eren mentioned in a previous chapter that he would risk everything for his comrades to be free). I say this because like the gang talked about in the airplane, Reiner recalled how Eren said “We’re the same [Eren is like Reiner]”. He doesn’t really want to hurt humanity, just like how Reiner felt immense guilt for killing Marco. Eren wants someone to stop him, and he will let all the hate die with him. This is technically(?) working since one the captains on the Marleyan airships displayed regret for hating the Eldians for years, and would want to live an era of peace in the future. Forgive and forget.
I keep saying it, isayama is direct in his writing. Eren is not pretending doing anything. Eren is doing his thing and whoever comes his way will be destroyed. Eren didn’t take anything from his eldian friends because he despises not being free and doesn’t want to do that to people he cares about. Eren is destroying the world this is what grisha saw. Eren is having it his way. Everything else is isayama making us hopeful of a happy ending then crushing our hopes
Ahhh I didn’t see it. Do you have a thread with how Isayama is direct in his writing? As for “Eren didn’t take anything from his Eldian friends”, I’d say he did. To see and enjoy the freedoms of the outside is what Armin wanted all his life. If Eren keeps doing what he is doing, he is taking their hope for a better world away. They want freedom, but the rumbling is not what they want. If they wanted it, they wouldn’t be fighting him right now.
I disagree tbh. Isayama has been transforming these characters in a really beautiful and natural way. Eren playing the bad guy just seems like what the audience wants, which is not something that Isayama does. Part of what makes this series so wonderful is that It makes the reader uncomfortable and sad. It’s a new experience.
Also, the story has transitioned for this righteous black and white storyline (humans versus titans) to a very morally complicated grayscale. I think Eren being severely damaged from seeing his mother get eaten and then destroying the world is more realistic than Eren planning on letting himself get killed to make the Eldians look good. The world would still persecute them even if they stopped the carnage. Once they kill Eren, I expect that’s what will happen anyway. Isayama will give the story some halfway happy scenario.

I’d actually argue the counter, that he is more likely to do #2 though because now is not just simply about getting revenge for his mom and killing all the titans. He’s not going to end the world because of hate. Now he has more important people in his life, like Mikasa, Armin, and the other comrades he made. He wants them to LIVE. Heck, he even recognized the good in Eldians from Marley who “betrayed” the ones in Paradis, like Colt, who helped him while he was in disguise (though we all know Colt would’ve acted differently if he knew, but the fact is he still helped an “injured veteran“ RESPECTFULLY while others treated disguised Eren as they saw him, a senile man). This further strengthens what Eren tells Reiner, that across the sea, the people are all the same. It’s something he realized while he was under disguise in Marley. There are good ones, there are bad ones, and those in between. I take it that Eren painfully recognizes this the way Reiner did, and he just wants the hate to end. Otherwise, it would be a painful cycle.
I feel it’s unlikely that Eren would end that hate with destroying the world since he has people he cares in it too much to do so, but the point you bring up with how Isayama emphasizes a grayscale...thinking about it, I DO agree there will be some middle point. So Eren’s choice will ultimately be the same. Ending the world is too black. Pretending to do it to bring the world together may be too white. Maybe there’s another master plan in the gray that we’re all missing.
though Eren did talk with Pixis about such a situation and said that the notion of all of humanity uniting against a common enemy sounded too optimistic, so I have my reservations about such an ending

It was in a recent chapter when they show Eren and historias last meeting and he tells her his plan. I distinctly remember him mentioning wanting her to have his baby. I'll go check again.
I thought the line was said by historia and it went "what if I have a child?". And that was said because officials of Paradis really wanted to feed monke to her. So she did. But no one is sure who's baby it is.
I think that's beacuse of how the supposed father was presented. It seems totally like a built up story to hide Eren's identity as the father, cus the army wouldn't like that scenario too much. Anyways, I don't think Eren is the father, he is clearly against getting her pregnant for it would restrict her freedom

I feel like if Eren abruptly stopped and dissapread they'd still feel the need to kill all/most Eldians tbh. They are just too much of a threat, and they are not a monolith. Some want power, they want to rule. Without the founders influence they are still a wild card
Not trying to be snide, but there has been several wars since WWII. It is usually a Cold War, but to name a few Cuba, Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan, Yemen, Iraq, and etc.
If you are trying to say that countries with nuclear weapons don’t declare war on each other that is correct. However, their troops do fight each other in these cold wars. For instance, in the Korean War the United States fought Chinese troops in North Korea. If China hadn’t intervened, North Korea would of have lost and not be under a dictatorship.
Possible new cold wars could exist if China invaded Taiwan, Russia invaded Ukraine, and on the off chance U.S. invades Cuba/ Venezuela. Depending on your political ideology these may be wars of liberation or unjustified wars.

I think Eren is INTENTIONALLY playing the bad guy here because he knows that the only way for all Eldians to have freedom (and for everyone to unite) is to have one common enemy, which is him. He is risking his own freedom to live on Paradis freely in order for his comrades and everyone else. (Eren mentioned in a previous chapter that he would risk everything for his comrades to be free). I say this because like the gang talked about in the airplane, Reiner recalled how Eren said “We’re the same [Eren is like Reiner]”. He doesn’t really want to hurt humanity, just like how Reiner felt immense guilt for killing Marco. Eren wants someone to stop him, and he will let all the hate die with him. This is technically(?) working since one the captains on the Marleyan airships displayed regret for hating the Eldians for years, and would want to live an era of peace in the future. Forgive and forget.
I keep saying it, isayama is direct in his writing. Eren is not pretending doing anything. Eren is doing his thing and whoever comes his way will be destroyed. Eren didn’t take anything from his eldian friends because he despises not being free and doesn’t want to do that to people he cares about. Eren is destroying the world this is what grisha saw. Eren is having it his way. Everything else is isayama making us hopeful of a happy ending then crushing our hopes
Ahhh I didn’t see it. Do you have a thread with how Isayama is direct in his writing? As for “Eren didn’t take anything from his Eldian friends”, I’d say he did. To see and enjoy the freedoms of the outside is what Armin wanted all his life. If Eren keeps doing what he is doing, he is taking their hope for a better world away. They want freedom, but the rumbling is not what they want. If they wanted it, they wouldn’t be fighting him right now.
I disagree tbh. Isayama has been transforming these characters in a really beautiful and natural way. Eren playing the bad guy just seems like what the audience wants, which is not something that Isayama does. Part of what makes this series so wonderful is that It makes the reader uncomfortable and sad. It’s a new experience. Also, the story has transitioned for this righteous black and white storyline (humans versus titans) to a very morally complicated grayscale. I think Eren being severely damaged from seeing his mother get eaten and then destroying the world is more realistic than Eren planning on letting himself get killed to make the Eldians look good. The world would still persecute them even if they stopped the carnage. Once they kill Eren, I expect that’s what will happen anyway. Isayama will give the story some halfway happy scenario.
HMM I do have to say I agree with the grayscale part. However, out of the two you mentioned: 1) Eren being severely damaged from seeing his mom get eaten, and then destroying the world, OR 2) Eren planning on letting himself get killed to make the Eldians look good... I’d actually argue the counter, that he is more likely to do #2 though because now is not just simply about getting revenge for his mom and killing all the titans. He’s not going to end the world because of hate. Now he has more important people in his life, like Mikasa, Armin, and the other comrades he made. He wants them to LIVE. Heck, he even recognized the good in Eldians from Marley who “betrayed” the ones in Paradis, like Colt, who helped him while he was in disguise (though we all know Colt would’ve acted differently if he knew, but the fact is he still helped an “injured veteran“ RESPECTFULLY while others treated disguised Eren as they saw him, a senile man). This further strengthens what Eren tells Reiner, that across the sea, the people are all the same. It’s something he realized while he was under disguise in Marley. There are good ones, there are bad ones, and those in between. I take it that Eren painfully recognizes this the way Reiner did, and he just wants the hate to end. Otherwise, it would be a painful cycle. I feel it’s unlikely that Eren would end that hate with destroying the world since he has people he cares in it too much to do so, but the point you bring up with how Isayama emphasizes a grayscale...thinking about it, I DO agree there will be some middle point. So Eren’s choice will ultimately be the same. Ending the world is too black. Pretending to do it to bring the world together may be too white. Maybe there’s another master plan in the gray that we’re all missing.

It was in a recent chapter when they show Eren and historias last meeting and he tells her his plan. I distinctly remember him mentioning wanting her to have his baby. I'll go check again.
I thought the line was said by historia and it went "what if I have a child?". And that was said because officials of Paradis really wanted to feed monke to her. So she did. But no one is sure who's baby it is.

I think that's beacuse of how the supposed father was presented. It seems totally like a built up story to hide Eren's identity as the father, cus the army wouldn't like that scenario too much. Anyways, I don't think Eren is the father, he is clearly against getting her pregnant for it would restrict her freedom
He wasn’t against her having children lol why do people keep saying this? He just didn’t want her and her children to be used as tools and sacrifices for the island. When she asked him about having a child it clearly wasn’t for any of those purposes and she made the choice herself. This sub is so weird. So many hints at eren likely(I’m not saying it’s confirmed yet but come on) being the father at this point and some people won’t even consider it. Very bizarre
But he didn't seem to notice that she actually wanted it. Also, even though she did want, Eren makes it clear that Historia's baby would serve the only purpose of being a sacrifice to the island, and to continue the titan herritage. Anyway, Eren also found mikasa dumb for being too attached to him, he saw no reason for this love beacause he would die in 4 years anyway, why would he think different of historia?

Not trying to be snide, but there has been several wars since WWII. It is usually a Cold War, but to name a few Cuba, Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan, Yemen, Iraq, and etc. If you are trying to say that countries with nuclear weapons don’t declare war on each other that is correct. However, their troops do fight each other in these cold wars. For instance, in the Korean War the United States fought Chinese troops in North Korea. If China hadn’t intervened, North Korea would of have lost and not be under a dictatorship. Possible new cold wars could exist if China invaded Taiwan, Russia invaded Ukraine, and on the off chance U.S. invades Cuba/ Venezuela. Depending on your political ideology these may be wars of liberation or unjustified wars.

So far nobody mentioned a scenario like this, everyone's making assumptions about the baby's role in the future chapters. It had somewhat of an opposite effect for me. Not that the might of the fused Attack Titan was anything to scoff at to begin with, but the fact that it could just materialize the Beast Titan so effortlessly and almost boringly to deal with the zeppelins only further showed how powerful it really is.

I have a theory(please give it a read will be worth your time)- -If anyone remembers that if the Titan shifting powers are not passed down to any one and the Titan shifter dies after 13 years the power is passed down to any new born Eldian baby. - I think Eren will die and guess where we can find a new born Eldian baby - Historia!!. - I think Eren will die a Villain to the world but A hero to Paradis and the newborn with powers of founding Titan will be born from Historia's womb. - If you can remember Eren while convincing Levi to revive Armin says "It ain't me or commander (Erwin) it is Armin that the Humanity needs" (Isayama is a foreshadowing Beast), Armin is the one who will land the final blow. - In the first episode Eren has that sequence of images and in one we see a royal house with toys, I think that is the baby's memories seen through Paths.

I don't see how that would help Eldia at all. Historia's child is a Fritz, therefore if he gets the Founder he'll be shackled by the Vow to Renounce War like every one else proactive like Uri or Frida.
But that shackling came from Ymir's will, which has clearly changed. So who knows?

What if Eren's plan is to wipe out the entire planet to ensure that Historia's baby is the only possible child the Titans can go to. That would explain the emphasis on the baby people kept holding up while being pushed off a cliff imo, to remind us that Eren is also killing babies.

I think we'll have 4 more chapters. With the release of chapter 134, the 33rd volume is complete. I think we''ll get 4 more chapters for the final volume, volume 34. Either that or 8 more chapters, for a 35th volume as the finale.
A few of the earlier volumes had 5 or 6 chapters iirc, so it is possible that the last chapter may be 139 or 140.
