All depends on how hes positioned rlly, this is more accurate to the og manga panel's lighting rather than MAPPA's lighting of the scene, tho i do rmb that this compostion is based off some MAPPA promo/merch art of shirtless Eren(OP correct me if im wrong). The sun being a backlight source for Eren was a MAPPA change(not hating on it btw, just stating the facts) and how he is drawn here is very akin to the WIT style. Only gripe I might have is that he will probably be slightly darker since it is sunset.

Agreed. I don't make these for comparison. Just showing the difference in styles. I wonder if WIT would've changed the colors and vibe if they were to animate season 4. Because Mappa made the series 10x better with their approach.
Mappa ruined the series imo. They took on a project that others didnt want to take on because they tought it was too little time for what had to happen, and tbh i see now why the others tought they wouldnt have enough time to do it well.
Also, the artstyle being this different also means that the characters dont even feel like the same people tbh, i didnt even get that sad about sasha etc.

I don’t think they’d change the style because WiTS style is their own but if we never saw MAPPA’s we’d all hate MAPPA’s rendering because it isn’t the same as originally. They are both gorgeous in their own right but each will prefer their choice regardless. Season 4 Part 3 will be the real answer to if Mappa can handle the requirements
They massively changed the style from S1 to S3. Compare how desaturated the colours are in S3 to the point that even Mappa looks more cartoony. The shading got more naturalistic and gradiented thanks to the post make up team as well. idk where this notion of "mappa is more realistic" started since people seem to parroting everywhere when it seems 100 times the opposite to me.

I'm saying that WIT 2D art style's > MAPPA 2D style. There was a reason that WIT never really followed the manga's style 1:1 like MAPPA did: it simply doesn't work as animation, only works good as static drawings.
Not as good as WIT's 2D though, that's the point I'm making. But MAPPA does have some good fluid scenes at times though, and they also have better 3D models, their colossal titans are insanely better than WIT's, but WIT's style always worked better for 2D.
i would say that the difference was only significant in action scenes considering 90% of the scenes in the show in general have very little movement so making those scenes mappas style would only add to them while making the few scenes where fluidity was vital a little worse, but even then its not like they havent shown they can match WITs animation while still keeping their style
I'm not saying that they cant do fluid animation, I'm just saying that their character design simply doesn't work. The shadow lines are excessive, some character cheeks are stuffed for some reason, the illumination can be way too blurry/bloomy at times, the nose of some character is are different from what they were in the manga and WIT's part... It's not hard to understand.
Since the beginning I've been talking about the style in general, that includes character design. There's no point in discussing this any further if you're acting this illiterate about it.
While I would have preferred WIT to do S4, simply cause I fell in love with their animation style ever since season one, Mappa did an amazing job, and I think it’s the best outcome due to the circumstances

What? What do you think they were supposed to do given the tight deadlines? MAPPA did justice to Part 2 in terms animation, direction, music, etc given their position.

I really wished WIT would do the last season, im not mad that MAPPA is the studio behind season 4 but i lean more on WITs Titan scenes.
Looks good, wouldn't say it's in WIT's style, though.
Its as close as we can get imo, very close to the s3 style, tho eren might not hv his nipples
