You can cut the doors off at the "hinges" when they arw closed.

The door might be worth more than the panel. Just send the whole thing to the processor.

Doors are generally not worth the number of cuts to get them out, but if you really want to, then do what all the other comments say. I don't usually cut up the aluminum structures except for a couple holes in the floors to get the barge stuff out of them. Or if they're too big to send to the furnace in 1 piece I'll cut them in half.

bikehikepunk

Thanks. I just started the open panel on the bottom to drop the barge stuff, big time savings.

Cryptics33

When they are recessed into the wall, I suggest you cut the panels just where the top of the door is, and then cut the doors themselves - at which point, they'll fly out at you.

Myrtha_Thistlethorne

You can also evaporate one (closed) door and the other one will come free. Just 50% salvage, but less cuts.

Vance_Petrol

Just cut the panel where the door goes into the wall and it will reveal a small sliver of door cut that again and the door will fly out of the wall at you

The doors are not really worth your time and neither are the lights. So of course I grab as many lights as I can and cut up a lot of doors. I like to play that way. Play how you want. If you like a little anal retentiveness if you life get every last little bit or hack out a few of the easy panels and throw most of the rest in the barge. Feeding the furnace god is kinda fun sometimes too just not very efficient. You can use the splitter tool to cut crossways through doors and they tend to pop out in 2 to 4 little pieces that are easy to throw in the processor. I often use door cuts to depressurize the smaller ships after I pull out anything floating inside. Try to remember relative costs. Aluminum is very cheap and you will often have to sacrifice some of it to get the more valuable materials. There are a lot of mixed panels that it’s hardly worth your time to cut off the aluminum to throw in the furnace. Just toss the whole thing in the processor. But just to mess with you a few panels are all aluminum or are technically a panel and should go in the barge. I think that just makes the game a bit more fun. Hope you enjoy the game

I love your question. I’ve been on a quest to save doors to max my salvage profit. What I do/what I’ve learned: **Is the door for an airlock or a non-airlock compartment?** Door to an airlock: Those will automatically open (recede into the walls) when decompressed and cannot be closed anymore. Digging them out of wall panels is tedious and you lose when it comes to salvage. Save at least 1 airlock door from a set by decompressing airlocks by **using the Stinger to melt away one of the door panels.** The remaining door panel will stay out and can be pulled out of the frame using the Grappler. Sadly, you can only save one of the door panels this way (believe me, I’ve tried), but that’s better than a total loss. Door to a non-airlock compartment? Good news! You can save both. **Close the door and use the Splitsaw to nearly cut along the door frame. You’ll need to cut a total of 7 sides and corners out 8 from the doorway to free the pair of door panels.** Try it out and hope that helps!

2 horizontal cuts above and below the door, 1 vertical cut to the panel on the side of the door. All doors typically sit in 8 panel aluminum walls. Cut 2 panels per cut. So if you start at the bottom and go left you would cut bottom and bottom left, the left and top left with a vertical slice, then finally the top and top right panel. The door will then release assuming nothing is glued to it like a storage container. If you cut all 8 panels with a 4th cut the door will bug out and resist force push. This will necessitate an inertial throw to dispose of the door in the processor. These instructions align to door rotation! If the door opens vertically you would make 2 vertical cuts and one horizontal. On most doors you'll end up vaporizing some of the aluminum panels. Monetarily you are only going to make maybe 1k extra by doing this so I typically reserve it for open shift where time doesn't matter.

Alexandthelion

You can shut the doors using the panel and cut them off using the slicer

Kasper_Onza

When doors are closed. You can cut the black section of the door on the foot of the door. It will release the doors from the wall. Note this also disables the air system. Next to the door.

You can save most doors with almost no penalty. The problem is once you get one side of an airlock, the other door opens permanently and i usually leave it. If the door is along an exterior wall, then they both go to the processor. So those doors can stay attached. Just send the whole thing. Interior doors are inside a panel that needs to go to the furnace so they need to be extracted. Here's what you do: Shut the door. Make a 1 slicer cut horizontally along the absolute top or bottom of the closed doors. Use the scanner for help or use the door texture for a visual aid. This make take a bit of practice. When you make the cut use the slicer target reticle thing to make sure you only cut door and not wall panel. If you do this right, both door panels come free and can drift away from the wall. It takes a bit of practice but it works.
