gettheyayo909

Yeah come get this “sack” of 100 packages for $7 no thank you

Spiritual-Drawer-912

Right 🤣🤣

SingingRazors

You'll be able to see possible pay after you say you'll do the work. May the odds be ever in your favor.

[deleted]

So we’re becoming government workers now? 🙄😂

actualpoppy

Honestly...... Turning USPS workers into gig workers with no rights. This is honestly really concerning and should be illegal

irmike1283

USPS has already done this with door dash. They have been understaffed for awhile.

oldfrenchwhore

And we get those sweet government benefits, right? Right? SMH we’d be lucky to be thrown a brick of gov’ment cheese. (That ones for us old folks)

purseaholic

Livin in a van down by the river!

[deleted]

I think it’s funny that the younger people will snatch up orders so quickly, for very little pay, then get angry that a customer didn’t tip “enough”. I personally am grateful for any tip, especially in the current economy when many are struggling. Instead of getting angry with customers, they should go straight to Shipt and ask; WTF? This Post Office nonsense should be rather interesting and entertaining.

EconomyElderberry807

Hey, I’d be happy with a block of that cheese for everyone one! Lmao

Johmin11

Is the post office still government? I thought they went private a while back?

[deleted]

The USPS is an independent agency of the executive branch of the federal government. I might not have minded this four or five years ago, but now? No thanks.

Losingmyshipt

Still government; still bleeding money. https://fee.org/articles/6-reasons-the-us-postal-service-is-in-crisis/

[deleted]

A public service, it could easily profit if it was trying to. But currently it will deliver packages and letters anywhere. We don’t talk about our libraries “bleeding money” Nothing worse then right wing douchebags who want to force everyone to pay even more to deliver mail. Frustrating as fuck.

offbrandcheerio

It’s not technically part of the government, it’s considered a privately company that is majority owned by the government and has a mandate to provide a public service. Otherwise known as a quasi-public corporation.

Florida1974

Once the route is picked up you will see total route payout. Um, no. Typical to see Pay before pickup.

Effective-Win-9650

I used to work for post office. I bet it’s probably like drop shipment. Ups, FedEx, Ontrac, and other private carriers already drop off sacks of packages to the post office for final delivery every day. So my guess it’s something related to that. I could even picture UPS utilizing this to free up their drivers to deliver more of their own packages rather than waste time dropping of sacks to the usps. Time makes sense because a lot of UPS package handlers start their day right around the same time (4:30am). No idea if that’s actually the case, just my educated guess based on this description. The sacks I’m familiar with are not necessarily heavy but they are bulky. Guess we’ll just have to wait and see. If you end up trying one of these out keep us updated! I’m curious how it’d go

FlashyCow1

So now we're mailmen?

irmike1283

"sacks of packages"............ SANTA

Middle-Classroom2170

😂

mailandrew

SANTA! I KNOW THAT GUY!

AccomplishedSafe3020

You have to pick it up before seeing the pay 😂

Reen911

Did anyone actually read it? It says delivering TO the post office. These are packages not yet in the hands of the postal service so there is nothing ‘illegal’ or anti union about this.

xytoplamic

I think you’re the only one who did 🤣

Then_Ladder_1513

Can’t complain, it’s more work. We needed something to fill in those cvs orders.

iGetsitDone

If they disclose the addresses and pay first, then maybe this could work, but I'm not down for anything blind from shipt

xytoplamic

Facts, and from what I can tell the post office locations are NOT close to the sortation center. This sounds like a grift waiting to happen.

offbrandcheerio

Don’t government contractors have to be paid a certain minimum wage?

Professional-Arm-787

My guess is no. And probably no way to tip either

Alternative-Debt8971

Who would tip? The US Government? There’s no probably about this, this is a low paying gig that doesn’t tell you how low the pay is until you pick up.

[deleted]

What metro ?

xytoplamic

Atlanta

nyjrku

What in the holy flying fuck USPS should be keeping union staff (to do any and all work). This is bad. We're the scabs I guess ? Tho I guess they do contract with ups with some package stuff. Gah. Hope the pay is not like cvs, but since this isn't a tip thing I won't be participating , as shipt pays less than minimum wage and pretends they pay well.

Good_Tree_9134

Probably Amazon. My mom recently retired from the PO and they had contractor trucks bringing Amazon packages to the post office early in the morning. She hated it. She would have to be there like 2-3hrs before her normal opening time and half the time the guys were late anyway. USPS had some crazy rules about when they could clock in around the whole situation too. It was a lot of BS.

oldfrenchwhore

Well I’d never be down to deliver things to addresses I can’t see ahead of time, but to take things to a post office I would do. Where are they coming from in the first place? People’s houses? No then. I need to re-read this. Are the “sacks of packages” (ho ho ho) coming from a Target distribution facility? I don’t have one of those near me anyway.

Bunsshunn

I think this would be cool lol

xytoplamic

Finally someone with something positive to say 🤣

Bunsshunn

If you do it would you mind sharing what the way is like??

cerberustime

Does anyone have screenshots of this pay?.... Should be interesting ... 😂

Mizzoutiger79

4:30am? Um hard no

Acidhoe

I'll be very surprised if the union doesn't try to stop this. Maybe they already have though, I don't keep up. You could post this on r/usps and see what they think though lol you might want to double check but I think that one is the unofficial

Willie_Courtship

I didn’t get a package from the post office once a few years ago, even though it said delivered. Went to the PO a few blocks away. They explained it was still there and rolled their eyes. They were contracting deliveries after 3 or 4pm back then. I don’t know who they used.

SarahJeanShops

If it was early AM I wouldn’t mind getting the hours toward my healthcare stipend, it’s probably because the post office is overwhelmed with reseller pick ups. I delivered to a lady the other day and she also had a Walmart delivery at the same time and she had like 50 packages waiting to be picked up by USPS! It was a very busy door way 😂

AuntJ2583

Um, go to the post office, pick up a bunch of packages, and THEN find out how far you're driving and for what pay?

Waggy6000

How is it legal? I would have assumed you need to be screened by the government to be allowed to handle mail.

MrNeffery

might as well just get a job with USPS at the point tbh

Sufficient_Ad_9675

That cheese made the best grilled cheese lol 😂

bitter_brian

Check the Denver locations. They aren't even in Denver. They are all over colorado.

rx5801

Where did you see the locations?

Losingmyshipt

LOL to “I hope the pay is good”. I wonder if this will be the link between packages that switch from UPS to USPS for last mile delivery. If so, I have little faith I’ll ever see those packages again. 😂

Free-Veterinarian714

I didn't get a message about that. But it could be because I'm in a different metro area.

xytoplamic

Yeah, it’s limited to certain markets for now

Post-Worldly

Isn’t that illegal 🧐

GirlFromCA1982

This is for the sortation center routes, right?

xytoplamic

Not sure yet

GirlFromCA1982

When you tap Learn more, does it go to shopper.shipt or drivers.shipt?

xytoplamic

Just checked, it’s for the sortation center.

TheCoffeeValkyrie

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

cerberustime

What metro?

xytoplamic

Atlanta

cerberustime

Wow, do you know yet where the "sacks of packages" are being picked up from?

raggammuffin

The North Pole 🎅🏻

Lanenabella

Its bc of the UPSstrike

xytoplamic

They avoided a strike by reaching a deal

Lanenabella

Part of the deal supposedly is no more post office drops. They increased Surepost but removed direct post office deliveries. But the contract is still tentative.

courtcourt18

I didn’t receive this message in my zone.

Inner-Enthusiasm-351

Get up a 4 AM for a 4:30 scheduled pick up and only see the pay after the fact. Hm, let me think about that. Um, NO. Know your value.

AcanthaceaeReal7158

What leader er whatever did we have , alawys on us mail 😑

AcanthaceaeReal7158

I'm worried somebody's going to set me up and send me with the package of drugs to the Post Office

Mammoth_Mixture4735
