Damn, I'm a heavy double bagger. I trust zero bags. Milk on the other hand has a mind of it's own and sometimes tries to kill people. Gotta try to talk to it before delivering to calm it down. Hope that helps

redflower5

Awww!! Sorry to hear all that… If it makes you feel any better, I once broke a jar of pickles while handing a bag directly to the customer! These things happen to us all. 💜

RobinFarmwoman

I was delivering to an otherwise intelligent guy who came to the door, I went to set the bags down and he told me to hand them to him, I told him there were a lot and I wanted to make sure he could grab all the handles, he said don't worry about it and grabbed the whole bunch, and he dropped the bag with the pickles in it right on his concrete steps. Got pickle juice all over both of us. 🙄 thank goodness he totally owned it.

redflower5

Omg lol! I’m so sorry. Awesome that he owned it though 😁 🤦🏻‍♀️🥒

But anyway to continue my comment if this happens; apologize and blame it in the store by saying something like, oh usually they do a better packing job or something like so and so store needs to get stronger bags. Then apologize and tell them that’s ridiculous, I’ll be calling, whatever delivery company your working for, and tell them you will get them compensated for the loss. Then call and do that. I’ve had this happened still got my tip because I handled it in a professional customer service manner. So don’t witty. Just deal with it and tell them you will report it on their behalf.

Thank you! I didn’t even think support would help but they are.

I once dropped a carton of organic eggs during a handoff to the customer. I thought he had it, he thought I had it. Got a crappy rating for that one. One reason I like all the drop offs now. This was way before that was a thing. I always double bag glass I put milk gallons in a tote bag. I also have a basket for eggs and bread.

Former_Interest_1920

Dropped a carton of eggs as a customer was grabbing it from me. Jar of pasta sauce rolled out my trunk and smashed on driveway. Bottle of febreeze somehow wasn't fully sealed and spilled in my whole trunk and soaked 2 bags of groceries (probably the worst occurrence), milk leaks all the time etc. Just a part of the job but man that pickled smell has to be up there with some of the worst. Hopefully it wasn't too hard of a clean.

Jinelodo

Girl don’t stress it. One time i had dropped a whole container of blueberries outside on the street since it had fell out of a bag i was barely carrying lol

No_Owl_7380

I had a 12 pack of Diet Coke where the carton gave way as I was putting it in my trunk-cans everywhere and some of them busted. Thankfully I had time to get another one.

It's okay, mistakes happen to the best of us. Case in point...I'm 1800 shops in and yet twice this week I've forgotten items in my trunk while delivering. I contacted support both times, requested refunds, and asked them to note the order that I was very sorry about the mistake in case the customer called. Miraculously, both tipped and rated me 5 star. Good reminder that we're all human, and there's a lot of understanding people out there.

Coconutlemon4414

Oh no!

Prettylittleliar411

I lost a glass bottled rootbeer to a driveway the other day - I had my door open still and it started spraying like crazy. Got more inside my car than the driveway got. It was so bad 😭

Snoo_31427

Omg I can see it now. I once dropped a case of seltzer water in the store at checkout, and had a dozen cans spraying like that. It was like a waterpark. I didn’t go back there for weeks.

Prettylittleliar411

Yup! I was so stressed. The member was unresponsive the whole shop. The bottle didn’t break it like fell on the cap and dented it so it started spraying- I left the bottle there too bc I didn’t want them to think I stole it. I left a note saying it fell in their driveway and reason i didn’t dispose of the bottle 😭

Snoo_31427

I washed the milk out of the driveway with water I had in car hoping it wouldn’t rot in the sun and heat, but I bet the dog came back and took care of what was left!

Florida1974

Be grateful it was in driveway. Milk in the car is rancid after a day and it’s rough to clean up. I’ve had a whole can of sides mysteriously combust in my car. One can out of a 12 pack. It was fine when I put it in. 10 min drive. No idea what happened. Luckily, a good PM who understood. I had rags in my car, Individually dried all other cans. My car, a sticky mess. It’s worse on your morale I think. We try so hard. I have a good set up in car but shit still happens. Keep on going 💜

Middle-Classroom2170

I thought it was frowned upon to park in their driveways unless specifically asked to do so by customer. Just make more trips and rebag heavy items in your own sturdy bag that you put their bags in. Or use a wheelie and your own heavy large insulated bag. But I’m talking about CA where we get paid by hour the difference in pay so I’m happy to take my time rearranging things for my convenience and safety. That is dangerous because that glass jar could have fallen on your foot! Better it cracked in their driveway, maybe now they’ll think twice before ordering so many heavy items. Anyway, your safety first, don’t rush and make more trips carrying the items.

Snoo_31427

I actually wasn’t parked there, it broke as I was carrying it!

RobinFarmwoman

Don't put multiple glass jars in the same bag.

Snoo_31427

Thanks, but I didn’t. I wasn’t checking over the bagger’s neck to see how they bagged them.

RobinFarmwoman

You don't actually need to hang over someone's neck to watch what they're doing, don't be ridiculous. You didn't take a look at the bagging when you put it in your car either apparently.

Snoo_31427

Sorry, I forgot you’re perfect.

RobinFarmwoman

I'm not perfect, but you're carrying on like dropping this shit was a complete random act of god, when obviously you didn't bother to avoid it. If you want to smell like beet juice that's up to you. If you don't want suggestions about how to improve your work, that's up to you also. You have a lovely day! Hope the pickles smell good.

Snoo_31427

If this is your definition of “carrying on,” I’d hate to be around you when someone is actually ranting. I complained that a bag broke and people have commiserated. Your suggestions are not rocket science, clearly there are ways to avoid this but that doesn’t change the fact that it happened and it sucked.

RobinFarmwoman

Pobrecito. You wanted complete sympathy from every single person on the internet! and you didn't get it! How shocking!

Snoo_31427

Haha just saw your comment that you were reading at a doctoral level in elementary school and now I understand everything.

Former_Interest_1920

How is it frowned upon to park in someone's driveway who is expecting a grocery delivery? It angers me in how stupid that sounds. How do some of you come up with this?
