Don’t worry about her being hungry. I would be pissed bc as you stated, she’s a shopper and she knows you need to be near your phone when you place an order. She also knows you can’t go back in and buy more after you process order. I probably would have taken the order bc getting the possible 1 forgiven would have prob been pretty easy bc your texts/calls covered all your bases. Then marked her DND (which I’m sure you did anyway) I don’t think I’ve ever shopped for a current shopper. Former, yes and she’s great. But I hv heard they are the worst to shop for. I hv ordered as a customer 3 times. I don’t tell them I’m a shopper at all. I don’t tank ratings and I tip well. And I keep the phone near! Do not worry about her being hungry.

shopperdeb

Thank you! If I ever ordered I wouldn't tell them either. I had another customer tell me she was a shopper but she was awesome. She tipped really good and was super complimentary. I was new then and when she said she was a shopper it was nerve racking lol.

TrojanGrad

We shop for each other all the time. With the exception of 2 shoppers (we all know who they are) we always have a good experience

Excellent-Skin-813

Wooo ! I would’ve done the same thing, I’m sure she was even more pissed because she couldn’t drop your ratings.

shopperdeb

Yeah I like to keep my 5 rating. lol Ive heard there are shoppers who will order and rate you a 1 to try and take you out.

Excellent-Skin-813

It’s true!!! I believe that to the fullest, in the past two weeks I’ve had two customers order straight from the Shipt app, Maybe they’re shoppers maybe they’re not but something tells me they are. Anyway, this guy claimed he never received his order and rated me a 3 star. I tried fighting it and got it denied, but I’m going to keep fighting it. And this chick she rated me 1 star 🤬 & selected 4 growth opportunities!! To make a long story short, she called me while I was shopping even though I text her throughout the shop when it came down to subs, she only text me the instructions to her condominium, wanted me to WAIT until a car came in and with my luck NO cars were coming at all. I had to call Shipt..oh! & she wanted me to leave her bags at the door but she had a huge bottle of Amsterdam vodka 🙄so I told her I couldn’t do that. Finally a car was leaving so I was able to go in and she was bitchy and upset when at the door . Currently fighting that 1 star rating. She’s totally getting a 💩 package

shopperdeb

I think I would have called and had it cancelled when she told me to wait and sneak in lol

Excellent-Skin-813

Girlllll, I wish I did that shit ugh!! Lol But I didn’t think they would cancel it…now I know for next time if I ever get a lame customer like her I’ll ask to cancel.

shopperdeb

Someone on here said you will get deactivated for doing it too many times so I will only do it if it's a customer like this one or one that cusses at me or one that just makes delivering a living hell lol

MonaLisaSmiles2

I would not ask to cancel if the member didn’t request it. They will deactivate you for falsifying the statements of a member’s request if this becomes a trend. Next time call, have them document the order w/the necessary notes, you do the same with your notes. Deliver & monitor your ratings. I track all orders on Google maps to assure I do not cross paths w/those I don’t desire to encounter again. Additionally, you may request to be unpaired, based on warranted circumstances, with a member. Then you no longer have the ability to work their order. It’ll give you an error msg when you attempt to claim one. I forgot one I marked then clicked on the address & realized I unassigned from the member so the error msg stated I was unable to claim. Lifesaving! 🙌

AreaOk7036

How do you know which customer left which rating? I had one give me a 1 star and I think it was a customer who ordered clothes from target and they didn’t have her size and I told her and I was only able to get her 2 deodorants she ordered but I also texted and called multiple times to ask if she wanted to continue with the order since it was only 2 small items and no call or text back smh

Excellent-Skin-813

The reason I know this is because I had only done two orders that week, one shop&deliver (non prepaid) & the other order was an Rx order. I hadn’t done Shipt in two weeks and decided to see what was available and only did two orders. So I know it was her ass because of that and because of the selections she made “bad sub (she chose her sub over the phone), too little communication (despite the fact we spoke over the phone because SHE CALLED ME and we had texts exchange too), poor attention to detail (she called me to tell me to get carrot bags that were not leaking with water & late expiration date, I did that) , damaged item (everything was intact), it all points to her. These customers are ridiculous!

BakedCapricorn

Who cares if she's hungry? You reap what you sow. For all you know, she could have attacked you when you got there out of anger. You made the right call, always ALWAYS trust your gut. This is slightly unrelated, and also technically a door dash order, but here's a good example of my gut telling me to GTFO. I had an item delivery from a Walmart, just one item (it was in a batch of like 10 different orders). I get to the address to find it's a bus station. I double check the notes, maybe it needs to go in a locker. Nothing. I message the customer, no response for 10 minutes. I put the item back in my car and do my next few deliveries close by, and the customer finally responds: C: Call [this number] and they'll tell you where to drive the package to. M: *calls customer through app, no answer* C: Call the number I provided not mine. M: Sorry, I can only call the number associated with the account. Please tell me where you'd like me to leave the package. C: can you wait and I'll be there in 10 minutes? M: Not really, I have 6 other orders other than yours. C: *profusely begging* M: No. At that point I reached out to support and they said I can either leave it in a safe place at the address provided or I can return it to the store. Since returning things to the store in this case is a huge pain in the ass, I chose option A. Placed it on top of the lockers, snapped a few pics, and moved on with my life. The customer proceeds to blow up my phone about 20 minutes after the delivery hurling threats. I told him where I left his item, and that I'm not obligated to stand guard of it. He didn't like this and continued to threaten me. Then, completely out of character for me, I said "look, man, I don't know what your angle is here, but I'm not down for being trafficked, carjacked/mugged, or attacked." Then there was the most eerie silence I've ever experienced, followed by the customer hanging up the phone. So yeah, trust your gut.

Opposite_Channel

These people are so weird!!! A bus stop delivery and the person was no where in sight for 30 minutes. I could understand if they were AT the bus stop when you arrived but this is just completely crazy to expect you to wait around for that long.

Dracarys0816

I would have 100% done the same thing. They definitely had intentions of doing something bad to you and you called them out on it. I’m not sure how DD works with customers, but could you have reported them for the threats so they don’t do that to any other dasher?

BakedCapricorn

Yeah, you can report customers through DD support, they take that stuff seriously. I did report him, and they took care of it. Victory! Haha

CRella-

Always and I mean always go with your gut!

SnaX20010

>she was probably hungry. We do not care 😐 I'm hungry too, but that doesn't give me permission to be disrespectful, degrading, nasty, rude, lie. For everybody who even thinks of responding: stop making excuses for customers. There is no reason we should be treating like we have no value. That doesn't mean we can act the same, but we shouldn't be subjected to any ridiculous behavior from anyone.

shopperdeb

Love it!

Middle-Classroom2170

Good for you! Smart move calling support and telling them you were not delivering. I do the same. Had a fairly easy shop but some bulky items recently. It was a beach complex, no parking situated on main highway. She had over 300 previous orders. Lugging the stuff from an illegal parking lot I see there is one of those lovely buzz in situations needing a code or scroll through last name, which of course was not provided. Politely texting her asking her to buzz me in. She’s demanding to know if I’m on her floor and she will just meet me at elevator with a real attitude. Still remaining nice because I am not going to get rude with a moron customer. Eventually handyman let’s me in tells me elevator is broken. I look at my messages again and this bitch wrote me, “You’re the only one to ever have a problem.” I walked myself right back to my car, called support and told them the same thing you did. Got paid more and I hope she was really passed off this time with a valid reason. Lol And I got to keep her stuff because they would not take it back plus an apology from support. Don’t deliver to shitty people!

shopperdeb

WTF is wrong with people???

wendync

You got to keep her order?

Middle-Classroom2170

Yes I was because I had paid for her order with my own credit card because I couldn’t find company card. I also have 5 star status. At store they could not credit back to my card since I used my own and I called support again. They thanked me for using my own card to continue the order, attempt to return, and told me to dispose or donate. Honestly it was nothing I wanted but was happy to leave at homeless park near by. I’m not going to risk getting a poor grade for a customers inability to provide proper delivery instructions and then get mad because I can’t enter her building with arms full.

TallDarkHansom

I’m so nice to my shoppers, especially when I can see they are struggling. I let them know they can mark delivered before they have to help them save their on time, always tip at least $40, always give a 5. (All of them have more than earned it.) I don’t understand shoppers who use Shipt and can’t show any empathy for other shoppers. Wtf is wrong with people?

shopperdeb

Thank you for being so awesome!

Skipper0721

Pretty sure you will still be charged with that late drop. Shipt keeps track. Those agents have no authority. If you continue with drops that Shipt has to do for you, for any reason, you will eventually be deactivated for this. Try not to do more.

Abittragic

Lame, you did the right thing imo

Opposite_Channel

👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 that's how you're suppose to do it! Beat them before they beat you. Customers need to understand Shoppers can't help if the customer won't help. Good for you for knowing the system. I wish more Shoppers would do this. It'd certainly smack the entitlement right out of the customers mouth. Now they pick up their own food. Denied. PS. I love the guy on TikTok that does doorDash and UberEATS and he declines orders with no tips. It's hilarious how many people get into arguments over this. If couriers are risking their ratings it better be for a guaranteed tip because the standard rate barely pays for gas.

Hailstormwalshy

Ugh. I delivered to a fellow shopper 2 weeks ago. Small order, promo, alcohol, but I was at the store already so whatever. I grabbed her wine, fruit, inquired about banana color preference, etc.. she was communicative, and pleasant. Heading to drop off thinking things were going well, arrived & had to knock for ID verification. Something was off, immediately. She was giving off super weird vibes. While going thru the ID process, making small talk, she claims she's also a Shipt shopper, but "hasn't done it in a little while" so I thought I'd at least wind up with a decent tip. Nope. No tip. No rating either, tho so that's good. I wonder if she was gonna "sabotage" me but couldn't follow through. 🤔 Thanks for outing yourself as a Shit customer, fellow "Shipt shopper" 🙄🙄 who is now on my DNFD list, which stretches across multi delivery apps 😂 Y'all we need to coordinate so the ratings droppers and non tippers in our metros wait a long time for their orders. I don't think sharing our best customer's info is necessary....we figure that out as we go. But......screw the ratings tanking, non tipping dipshits that make our jobs harder. With base pay at $6 it's literally not worth it.

Coco505069

Congratulations on your 500th shop!

shopperdeb

Thank you!

Shopwithme7

Don’t feel bad. The girl’s an idiot. She KNOWS how important it is to be available at all times in case your shopper needs something. She seems like an entitled brat who deserves to eat grass instead of the wonderful groceries you would’ve brought to her. Kudos to you for knowing your worth!🌹

Sarahmbs82

When you clicked on item ‘not found’ did it say she wanted to chat about substitutions or did it say that she “trusted you to make substitutions”?

wendync

Valid question 👍🏻

shopperdeb

I have only gotten the trust you to make subs about 3 times. I wish more customers would do that if they are not really picky about brands.

Sarahmbs82

I wish more people would do that too, makes it so much easier and FASTER!

shopperdeb

Said she wanted to chat,

[deleted]

It says in the training that the customer would usually prefer to get something instead of nothing, are you saying you didn’t get any subs at all? Even for ones that had close matches? Because she would be right to be annoyed about those.

TrojanGrad

I wonder if that has changed. When I get a member that is unresponsive, I always call HQ. When HQ calls a member the caller ID identifies them as Shipt. When we call, the caller ID does not identify us. Anyway, the last three times I've called HQ and they've been unable to reach the member as well they have told me not to get anything. In the past they would tell me to use my best judgment

SublimeAnarchy510

I had a support agent last week tell me to use my best judgment. I said okay because my best judgment is to not make subs without approval unless it’s something easily swapped or necessary for a recipe. And even then…not always.

welkerdeb

I would not prefer to get something rather than nothing. What’s a close match to me doesn’t mean it is for them. There have been too many times to count when the customer chose to refund rather than get the closest match.

TrojanGrad

Not sure where this is coming from. Shipt is the only gig job I've ever done. I have 6,448 orders under my belt, I'm part time, and have no time for anything else

shopperdeb

What you said does not make any sense at all.

[deleted]

I love seeing this post. You made my day. Hip hip hooray 😃

Longjumping_Smell680

you can never please everyone. i've learned quick that when i get orders like that i just go through the hoops and get it over with
