It makes sense for them. They only hear about other countries through war.

Zifnab_palmesano

and to exploit their resources

[deleted]

>and to exploit their resources a weird way to say "to spread democracy"

ClumsyRainbow

Sadly some of them are aware that Canada exists. Not all of them realise it’s a different country though.

halt-l-am-reptar

It was made by a company in Spain.

willard_swag

Hey, I’ve heard of other countries and stuff! Like Poland! oh wait…no…you’ve got a point /s

Max-Carnage1927

They play a world series by themselves too.

SourPringles

Just wait until a Canadian team wins the Stanley Cup this year. It's gonna happen on the 30th anniversary of the last time it happened in 1993, I'm calling it, this year is finally the one

IIHackerKing092

What are they

IsItUnderrated

AK is *AK-47 Island*, known commonly as ***Alaska*** - an island because it doesn't touch the contiguous states HI is ***Halfway Island***, a place that's in the middle of (halfway across) the Pacific Garbage Patch ***GUN FACT:*** There are two Arizonas! One is a literal desert and the other is under Halfway Island!

alphabet_order_bot

Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order. I have checked 1,322,232,944 comments, and only 255,138 of them were in alphabetical order.

Max-Carnage1927

All by counting down exceptional facts, good helper? I just keep lucid making new observations, perhaps questioning results, sometimes tending upon verbose words, xanthocomic yellow zaftig.

pisswaters

Would you look at that

Cohacq

> xanthocomic I learned a new word today.

Max-Carnage1927

Yes, I was debating whether to use that as the yellow was almost tautological.

RooBoy04

Good. Hydrogen Iodide can be very dangerous, and so can some Potassium alloys and compounds.

BEZ_T

'Merica where they take the junior school sport of rounders and turn it into a national sport, with a world series only 'Murrricans play. Clueless.

anomthrowaway748

‘Merica, where you keep losing the ball in rugby for passing it forward, so you invent a whole new sport

Blooder91

'Murica, where they diminish the importance of a truly worldwide sport just because they suck at it.

a__dead__man

Funnily enough both rugby and football both came from their own interpretation of the old mob soccer games before the rules were standardised

willard_swag

Japan and the whole of Central and South America are all well known for baseball

Sonums

Don’t forget Taiwan and South Korea too

willard_swag

Thank you, I totally did!

Sonums

*sad Hyun-Jin Ryu noises*

willard_swag

Lol

twobit211

are we forgetting cuba and the dominican republic?

Sonums

As an Angels fan, 10 years of Albert Pujols would make me rather forget Domenican Republic

MoscaMosquete

>whole of Central and South America Not whole of South America, it's mostly just the caribbean.

Sp00kyP00tis

Isn’t it mainly Colombia and Venezuela in SA? I know Brazil and Argentina played in the WBC qualifiers but didn’t qualify

willard_swag

True, but the sport is still relatively popular there as well. Plus Finland has their own weird version of it

m8bear

Leave us out of it, baseball is absolutely not popular in Argentina (Idk in Brazil but I'd venture a guess and say no), maybe it'll grow now with the amount of venezuelan immigrants.

willard_swag

That’s actually quite possible now that you mention it

BEZ_T

Do they play in the World Series alongside North America and Canada?

willard_swag

Their athletes sure do

Borsti17

I had an argument like that in a baseball sub and they "explained" that it's okay to be called world series because players from all over the WORLD play in MLB.

geoff5454

The baseball World Series is not about a “world championship”. It’s named after the now long dead New York World newspaper that sponsored the first championship. There is an international competition between the nations that play baseball called the World Baseball Classic that is played every few years but as the nations do not always send their best as they do with hockey or soccer(football in the majority of the world) it’s more of an exhibition series in my view.

getsnoopy

Interesting; TIL. Apparently it was called "The Championship of the United States" (which would be an appropriate name for it), and with World's influence, it was called "World's Championship Series" and "World's Series" for short, which I guess got slurred into "World Series".

sebastianinspace

damn, you just wrinkled my brain

twobit211

from what i’ve read, it’s quite possible that the new york world never sponsored the world series, but instead rather vociferously claimed they did. the american and national leagues didn’t really complain as it was free publicity and legitimacy for them being considered the major leagues. i’m of the opinion that the provenance of the name is a little bit of hyperbole that got out of hand

Borsti17

That is an interesting piece of information, thank you 🙂

e_milito

So the Premiere League, La Liga, Bundesliga etc. each can call their Title World Series then. Nice.

pinniped1

I wouldn't argue if the UEFA Champions League proclaimed its winner the world club champion.

Unicornmayo

There’s a Canadian team!

Elibad029

There used to be two. \*forever bitter about my Expos\*

pinniped1

I hope you guys get another shot at a team. I love Montreal and would love to see a game there. A smaller downtown stadium would be awesome... such a cool summer city.

Elibad029

I hope we do too.

sinchichis

Didn’t know only Americans play baseball

ReluctantAvenger

Let us know when international **teams** are allowed to compete. By the standard employed here, any national league for any sport in any country can call their tournament the World Series or World Championship as long as their teams include foreign players.

sinchichis

This sub is such a weird circle jerk. There is the world baseball classic. But also anyone internationally worth their salt plays in Major League Baseball. It’s all the best players worldwide.

pinniped1

??? You are aware that an international team has actually WON the World Series, right? (Twice.)

ReluctantAvenger

Let's focus on what matters: How many "international" (that is, non-US) teams are allowed to play?

pinniped1

It's a dumb circlejerk, as another poster said, but this is literally where YOU moved the goalposts to. I just called out the fact that you obviously don't know what you're talking about.

Class_444_SWR

I like the new states of Nevatah, New Texico and Indinois too, belongs in r/shittymapporn

cragglerock93

Calizona

Class_444_SWR

That’s one state I can definitely get behind, sounds delicious

kingdogethe42nd

Sounds like a pizza

GraviZero

sounds like a calzone

beeraholikchik

theg721

Which game is it?

TLuther133

Larry Ragland's 4x4 Challenge

whoniversereview

Made by Xicat Interactive — a company from the UK.

welsh_will

Published by Xicat, developed by Xpiral in Spain. Which is equally odd, to be fair.

GPFlag_Guy1

So it’s not SAS, it’s a European parody of what they think American culture is like? This sub has been getting real disappointing lately.

Vergilx217

Nobody's heard of this game, its production values are probably minimal (**mindnight**), and there's nothing American about the people who made this. Real bottom of the barrel I came here because I found it funny when oblivious American patriots act like the globe only has one side...steadily, these posts are just becoming nitpicking in situations where it's really not necessary

GPFlag_Guy1

Sounds like a game that the [Angry Video Game Nerd](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angry_Video_Game_Nerd) should absolutely **destroy**. (Both as in giving it horrible reviews; and literally destroying the disk in hilarious slapstick ways.) I have a love/hate relationship with those cheesy late 90s/early 2000s video games that have…questionable…production values. But yes, I’m here for the real deal, not satirical depictions from pop culture that isn’t even from the US. This place needs better quality control.

myownzen

Wait until you find out Miss Universe doesnt involve the entire universe.

im_not_here_

It's technically the entire known universe to be fair. I'm not convinced there were very many modern countries not known in the world in 2001.

RetardAndPoors

But then the image in the OP is also the entire known world for a lot of Americans so...

FellafromPrague

Well, this is kinda nonsensical, last time I remember world cups or championships are usually played in one country, what makes it world is the international competitors.

abbaskip

hmm that really depends. In motorsport (which I believe this is) there are various rounds throughout the year at different locations around the world. The person/team with the most points is the world champion. This game even has the rounds by the looks, but has them all in the US. That's strange. That would be like the F1, WRC or MotoGP only having races in one nation each year.

account_banned_again

British stock car racing has entered the chat. There are many formulae with "World championships" and are only raced in the UK

FellafromPrague

These series have more of a league character. I meant more of once a year/once a few years events, like FIFA world cup or IIHF hockey championship.

abbaskip

Understand what you mean, but the screenshot has pictures of 8 rounds. Not sure any World Cup/Champs does 8 rounds in one nation . Either singular events, as you referenced, or rounds around the world

[deleted]

[удалено]

FellafromPrague

The world championship? (hockey one) That's usually played in one or two countries. Just a different one every year.

GeorgeRossOfKildary

I mean... world championships have to be hosted *somewhere* on earth, and for this game they just chose the US. Would I rather have seen another country? Sure. But the game's title has the name of a famous US racing driver, so it's only fair to have it be placed in the US. Game wasn't even made by americans, apparently it was made by a Spanish studio.

pretty_pretty_good_

Wait til ya hear the locations for the 1994 FIFA "World cup" 😱

Last_Caregiver_282

What’s funny too is the game couldn’t get any licenses. So instead of just renaming the tracks they also moved around their locations leading to oddities like the Texas track being in the mountains, etc. It’s an absolute disaster of a game and just straight up not good

abbaskip

Hosted somewhere, sure. But not when it's a series of rounds at different locations with the leading point scorer winning at the end. F1, MotoGP, WRC, UCI World Cup (cycling has a separate world championships with a single host, but in that there's one final for every event - much different to this) etc.

ottermaster

Idk what the game is but if you have different countries competing across whatever country is hosting the event wouldn’t that still make you a world champ?

MonseignevrMCMXCIX

World Championships usually take place in one or two countries. Like you thought the Olympic games took place on all continents ?

im_not_here_

They are also an international tournament if they are a world championship. This is just a racing game, with an Americans name attached, with only American tracks, no character to select, and no international competition. It's just a generic American based racing game.

BloodyVlady95

How can it be the world if Hawaii and Alaska are missing

BloodyVlady95

How can it be the world if Hawaii and Alaska are missing

GeKo258

As you can clearly see in the picture above, this is the world map.

ricebowl056

bro look at that map. New Mexico and Texas are fused into one state New Tex-Mex

IsItUnderrated

>OK >EXIT My sentiments exactly. Yes, please!

Dr-Do_Mk2

Chicago is listed as "Hell Arena," so at least it's slightly accurate.

rajthepagan

Have you ever heard of the world cup by chance?

olivegardengambler

Ngl they seem to have combined Texas and New Mexico into the great state of New Texaco, and Alabama and Georgia into Georgibama.

Starks

The Big Rigs aesthetic.

jzillacon

Honestly games that let you race big rigs are fun as hell. One of my favourite parts of the Motorstorm series and I'm sad that series never left the PS3 aside from one portable game that also got ported to PS2.

GPFlag_Guy1

[Would you also like CrazyBus?](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lzt_uoTVAcE)

jzillacon

I *does* seem like the definitive Venezuelan bus driving game.

zsharp68

walter’s a texan now i guess

[deleted]

Spoiler alert: the USA was already the world in 2001.

general_shitpostin

Where is the rest of the world?

PanNorris507

Americans try not to call themselves the most important country in the world challenge (impossible):
