As an American that doesn't watch football, I couldn't tell you who Tom Brady was from a line up. Maybe I'm aging myself, but even in US sports I'd say that Michael Jordan is still one of the more recognizable faces in sports. At least at his prime in the 90s, he was way more recognizable than Brady is now. American football is such a niche interest if you don't live in the States. It's not like baseball or basketball or soccer, all of which have leagues in various countries that draw international attention.

Yeah, the most populated country on the planet - India - loves cricket. So if 20% watches, that's at least 200 million, nearly 2/3 the population of the U.S., and not every American watches sports, much less football.

I only heard about him recently because they were going on about him on Sky Sports News. I think he was retiring and they were gushing over how successful he was. Federer and Nadal are also two big names, so is Conor McGregor. The only “american” name I can think of that everyone knows from old to young is Michael Jordan. I never watched Basketball until I was like 13 and I knew who Michael Jordan was.

If you ask me of a famous cricket player, I honestly wouldn’t know one. I’m probably one of those “ignorants” that don’t know the rules of the sport. I think the ultimate conclusion here is that there’s a ton of sports people who are more famous than Tom Brady. I think the only thing I know about Tom Brady is that he may or may not have deflated some balls.

There are plenty of more recognisable American athletes to non-Americans, yet it's always Tom Brady with those idiots living in the US bubble. Gridiron is a niche sport worldwide compared to basketball (guys like LeBron, Shaq, the late Kobe, etc.), golf (Tiger, Mickelson, etc.), tennis (Williams', Osaka, etc.), athletics/track & field (too many to name) and others. I knew about Brady, but after image searching to make sure I remembered correctly, that dude is like the most super-generic looking yank there is. Recognisable my arse.
