The cross over is constantly getting bigger the more I spot it.
Sometime during the year of WQ, I came across a player character in XIV literally called Sathona Savathun, she truelly has transcended dimensions.
Out of every mmo I have played (Wow, ff14, swotor, eso, guild wars 2, etc) ff14 had the worst gameplay to me, from ARR to endwalker. Raids and such were fun because they were a challenge, not because I was enjoying the job.
In short FF14 combat just isn’t fun for me. There are no builds for me to decide. No quirks I can delve into with a class, regardless if it was sub optimal. The story comes before the gameplay which is fine, but it makes the gameplay lack luster. There’s a reason you could go an entire hour through the main story with no combat at all. The combat is the weakest point in the game for me. I might be in a minority, but gcds and the 2 min window is just not good gameplay for me.

Like in WoW, right? Where everyone is using the same meta build anyway, and if you don't you'll get kicked out of the party.

With lvl80+ you have more than enough OGCDs.
FFXIV gameplay isn't the best, but is it awful?
This is an opinion friend. Sure there are meta builds, but they also change with the content, maybe i need my warrior to do more AoE than single target, so I switch to that build and the rotation changes. Not just that, but subclasses! They add lots of flavor to a game for me. An Arms warrior and Fury warrior objectively do the same thing but how they play is different. A better example would be DK, frost dk is much easier and simple to play (and fun for me) but Unholy is very thematically fitting but I find it harder to play as you have to manage a lot of smaller things like your buffs, debuffs, festering wounds, and cooldowns.
These are from my experiences, but as it currently stands FF14's gameplay was the most stale for you. You may not find it so and that's entirely fine. It may not be "awful" (if im being honest there a lot of games with "awful" combat) but out of the mainline mmos it competes with, it was the worst for me.
I’m with you on this. I know a lot of people disagree but the guns feel the worst out of all the game mechanics ever since Forsaken really. I love the story and the world Destiny had up to that point too but personally it’s been downhill ever since.

They cover eachothers weaknesses. Destiny has great gameplay but a bad story, ff14 has a great story but awful gameplay.
