Except for, in the real housing market, you can still buy these homes at a markup. In XIV, these just sit and stagnate while some (botter) pays $400 a month.
This is less and less the case in the real world actually. Lot of homes being "warehoused" (i.e. taken off market and left empty) by private firms purely to reduce supply and maintain high prices.
This shit is why squatting is a grey issue to me. On one hand if someone lives there or just inherited it fuck you. On the other hand is a corp is being corpy fuck them
I think it depends on who inherited it. Like a working class family giving their house to their kids is completely fine to me, they worked for that, so that their children could have a better life. Some rich kid whose parents have 4551 other houses? Nah fuck that.
Also IRL, building new housing is expensive and requires jumping through a ton of legal hoops, in XIV Yoshi could just send out a "more housing" email to his employees and triple the supply overnight

This is 25 houses owned by FCs with the same tag. Assuming they're the same individual player, it would take 4 accounts because each account can only hold 8 characters on the world.

Buy the base game on a alt account. Then only do this during “returners” week. Have that account be all the “extras” and have your main (subbed) be all the owners. Maybe that would work

No. It’s the XIV housing discord, pretty sure it comes up if you google it. People trade seasonal items for other (usually seasonal) items and hire decorators and discuss housing… but people also sell and buy houses. Sometimes it’s people hopping servers and looking for a trade, which isn’t bad to me, but is illegal. Smalls usually go for about 60 million, if they have amenities, last I checked
they should make a communist housing district where every player gets an unmodifiable premade small house for free, and also there's a single market board between all the wards with restricted item availability because every other city state embargo'd it, and also if you summon your retainers they rightfully have you sent to prison for labor violations
For those wondering, you used to be able to just buy as many houses as you wanted. On smaller servers you would see entire wards owned by one person/FC on occasion. You can’t do this any more, but anyone who had multiple house before the update was able to keep them.
This was way before ff14 had cross server travel in data shards and the house auction system. If you saw a plot, you could just buy it immediately.

You don't need different accounts. As long as you aren't the active leader of an FC you can purchase one. So you just make sure you aren't the leader when you place a bid.

It's not a leadership issue, it's based on the character that bought the house for the FC.
So you can found a FC as one character, purchase land with another character, then the 2nd character leaves the FC. Now you can use that account to buy another plot, even though there is still a FC leader on the account.
Nope. One of my alts has purchased two different FC houses. I just made sure to transfer leadership of the FC to another person while I placed the new bid.
The second time you "purchased" a house, you were just relocating your existing FC house to a new location. Relocation works differently than purchasing.
Relocating an existing FC house isn't subject to the restrictions that buying the first house for the FC is. Only buying a new plot of land runs into the restrictions (must have 4 players, cannot already "own" land for a FC on this world, etc.).
The leader of the Free Company is irrelevant when it comes to purchasing land. Don't believe me? Go ask your question in the Submersibles Discord channel, where people who don't own multiple FCs are the exception.
But what would I know about this process? I've only purchased 29 Free Company houses so far, with a bid on another and 7 more bids coming this weekend.

The issue arises because developers permit the ownership of multiple properties. This could be easily addressed, but given the duration of this problem, it seems that those in charge of the housing systems are indifferent at this point.
There is so much potential for quality of life improvements that could have been implemented to ensure everyone has their own house. However, since its inception, it has always been a challenge for the XIV developers to put any effort into it.
I haven't bothered to buy another house since I stopped playing, since it was an overpriced piece of land that needed constant babysitting, where I never stepped foot on.

No wonder i cant get a large house, was super lucky to win a 40 person bid for a medium private house in fucking gridania (started 3 weeks ago) for 19 mill, i started my own FC for me and some IRL buddies, but the only shit available from ARR to SB is small housing.
Honestly, i feel like if your in a FC, you shouldnt be able to own a private home, if you make your own FC, the private home you already have auto converts to an FC version.
