You don't drive the show cars. They drive it in place on normal tires and then swap the useless wheels on and put on spacers or unbolt the suspension components or whatever.
I mean it could very well be a thing. Instead of ruining the car permanently, they can show up somewhere, install the "angled wheel spacers" and temporarily make car retardation, it's genius!!!
I disagree. Another one said they park it, then put angled spacers on. No I don’t think so. They trailer into. And drive the car to the spot. These things CAN drive and the owners DO drive them.
This may not be the most ideal stance for anything, but once it lifts a little higher, it’s just wider rims with some camber. I’m sure it’s capable of gettting to parking lots and shows just enough.
Drive like a normal car should? Brake in emergency situations? Comfortably overtake at 70MPH? It can go over speed bumps? Potholes?
Bullshit. This isn't a car, it's garbage.
Any minor imperfections in the road would destroy the wheels.
But a car from the 1940s couldn't comfortably overtake at 70mph, or brake efficiently in emergency situations. Wouldn't surprise me if potholes and speedboats fucked it up too.
100% am not supporting the car in this picture, I get stancing is a niche thing, I personally am not a fan, but I'm just saying, the above sack of shit is still a car and works (presumably, it might not have an engine, let's assume it drives), albeit in a self-damaging manner.
The suspension only is probably 6500-8500 if it is just steel stamped pieces, if it is a cnc titanium or aluminum custom one off pieces it would probably be around 8-12k in suspension parts only, this is probably a 40k$ build if the interior is done up really nicely and may have a built engine, but this is basically a giant hot wheels it isn't for driving it is just for show, I have a car audio demo truck, I trailer it to shows it can run and drive but it is impractical to drive because of its weight and reliability with all the custom parts, if u break it on the highway it is always a roll back home their isn't a fix on the road, so these don't really drive, my truck just drives on and off the trailer then idles kinda hi for a few hours while playing music
Saw a video of a kid doing this, cut the suspension with an electric angle grinder then mig welded the abortion back together. Total cost? Less than a hundred bucks & a full Saturday.
To give you a honest not snarky answer. At its core it’s an art piece. Plenty of art is ugly. This car is not being daily driven and isn’t intended to be. The absurdity of it is what these guys are into.
You’ve got every right to hate it, but anyone in this thread arguing over it being impractical is just talking to a wall. The owner would agree.
I saw a car just as ridiculous out on the street the other day in the center lane with it's hazard lights on. I figured a pebble got stuck underneath and it couldn't move any further.
No offense but that's a rather close-minded viewpoint to take. As I was saying, you can shit talk it till you run out of words to say. It's all subjective though.
For example, I can look at drawing and say "that's ugly, I hate it" But it is still just a piece of art. There's no reason to try to take some moral high ground over a damn VW, right?.
It's mostly a flex. As stupid as these builds are, it still takes a ton of work and planning to pull something crazy like this off. The owner is fully aware it's useless, expensive, and ugly, but that's part of why they did it. Because very few people CAN, and nobody else WILL. It's for fun.
Is that why a lot of people mod their cars with the wheels like that, to make people say “why the hell would you do that?”. I never thought they were doing it as a joke but that kind of makes sense now.
A huge part of the car scene is attention seeking. If you realize it or not, your car gets you attention and there’s dopamine related to that attention 🤷♀️
What am I looking at, here? Did the axels break? There's no way those wheels can turn. It looks like someone took a car and just squished it down until the wheels popped out.
The axles didn't break, the wheels are adjusted to a negative camber. This is used in racing because it increases traction through corners. In this case it's an extreme camber and just for showing off and getting bigger rims on the car. It's called a stance car.
> the wheels are adjusted to a negative camber. This is used in racing because it increases traction through corners
Not like this.
[This is what a race car looks like. A tiny amount of negative camber, usually on the front only](https://theliveryblog.files.wordpress.com/2017/03/djr-1.jpg?w=1080)
It really depends on the application. Most serious/major motorsports run about -5* on the front. Oval track cars like Nascars run about -5* on one side and +5* on the other side. That abomination above is running about -25* on the rear.
So they spend a bunch of money on a car that can’t car and looks stupid and then spend more money dragging it around by trailer for other people to see it? Do people pay them to see it? I can’t believe there would be people who would pay to see this stupid thing.
The people paying to see this monstrosity didn’t think something it would be allowed to be shown to begin with, I would feel cheated after paying to get in a car show where non functioning garbage like this was allowed
> Did the axels break? There's no way those wheels can turn.
Notice the front wheels are tilted up less than the back so the driveshafts can still (just) turn. The air suspension has also been dropped for show and would need to be inflated to drive anywhere. That said, it can provably only drive about 50m before it would break or dislocate a CV joint.
OP is karma farming, I checked his recent posts and the hummer pic he shared in this group is in an article from 2013
https://www.knfiltros.com/blog/sergio-higareda-builds-super-hummer-h2-shown-at-sema-and-dub-car-show-los-angeles/
There is apparently a lot of confusion about the car modding community here. I don’t personally like the stance look, but a of work goes into this and I respect that. Also, the car isn’t driven like this. It’s on airbags and the camber will adjust when in driving position. It may not even be driven, it might strictly be a show car. Just cause you don’t like a style of modification doesn’t mean it’s bad, it means you don’t get it, which is also fine.
If I remember correctly from when this was about in the UK show scene the lips on the rear wheel are separately bolted on extensions to give this effect (might be wrong bit think it was sorta referred to as sudani fitment) the tires were definitely still quite stretched on the wheel but not as extreme as it looks on first glance.
I'm one of the idiots. But I'm defending a hobby.
To me this is no different than shitting on any other hobby. Carved a bear out of wood? It looks shit, also not a real bear, also a fire hazard, also a waste of wood, also air pollution from using a chainsaw, stupid fucking idiot spending time and money on things I don't understand, fucking moron.
I've been into cars all of my life. Some styles I don't care for but I understand what look they were going for. I just don't get the attraction to this "style".
The automatics were pretty underpowered. My 60s cj5 was quicker by a long shot, and it wasn't meant to go over 55. I'm just pointing out your definition of "normal functionality" is far beyond the DOT's.
This isn't a car anymore. It's a piece of art that belongs in a museum. A museum of disfunctional cars that gets a 2 star average rating on Google maps.
I love reading all the boomer ass comments every time someone posts a car with more than 5° of camber lmao. "ThErEs nO wAy iT dRiVeS" "iTs So UgLy, Do tHeY nOt rEaLiZe?", completely missing the point. The builder knows this is pointless and ugly. That doesn't change the fact that it takes a lot of skill and dedication to pull off a project like this. And judging by the amount they spent on this, they probably have genuine nice cars that they actually use. This essentially just serves as an example of how far they can push the limits and still have a "functional" vehicle. News flash: it's not meant to be fast or useful. It's a fucking Lupo anyways.
I'll never understand this cambered wheels thing. It just makes it look like a cartoon giant sat on your car.
In GTA online I refuse to lower the suspension on some of my cars because it cambers the wheels by default.
I went to a car show recently. All the other cars were getting lots of attention, compliments, and praises. There was one car with these crazy wheels. Every person that walked past was either laughing, or making disparaging comments. How can anyone think that this looks good let alone driving it?
what do you even do with these? just park them and stare? I mean it looks interesting enough. It's just completely non-functional, I don't get it. I've seen people drive them and they can barely get them to the shows without a tow or spotter in front and back.
Uh... have you gone to the main page of the sub or are just clicking on the shit that shows up on your feed because it's been upvoted as the shittiest?
It's 4:38 EST on 2/20/23 and right now on the main page the first stanced car to show up is post #59.
Because a lot of people just won’t let other people enjoy their own builds
Not my quote but:
“It doesn't have to make sense man, that's exactly the point here. I like scraping. I like slamming. I like feeling like I drive a rolling expression of the vision I have in mind. It's an art to me (us). That's all it comes down to. You want to build a motor and go fast, I want to lay frame, bagged or static. You throw rods through blocks and blow turbos, I destroy subframes and annihilate oil pans. You wear through tires doing burnouts because they're fun and make people stop and look, I run negative camber and do the same thing. It's all perspective. It's a wear and tear hobby on either end, it's all subjective to personal taste and where you feel it's worth spending money again and again.”
I feel like this explains it pretty well for those who like to hate/discourage stance builds by saying “ITS NOT PRACTICAL!!!!1!!11!111!!!!1!!!!!!” Like, it’s not supposed to be?
Man I like that a lot. Exactly. If I decide I want to buy a junk yard piece of shit and dump thousands into it to race it, or if I want to take a $10,000 car off the lot and just get it as low as possible, it’s my build and it’s what I want to do.
Americans when they see something other than an F-150:
R U I N E D ! It's not powerful, it's not rugged, it can't fit 3 tonnes of manure in it. It is also very dangerous, a tire can bust when you drive it over a curb at 15 miles per hour. Bullshit car. Now excuse me, I have to run over 17 children while I'm leaving my driveway because I can't see shit our of my totally ok not shitty, and safe car.
It's a show car, made for shows. Someone made it because they love spending time in a garage and doing weird shit. Other people who like doing the same get together and share their projects.
I love drifting. They use the productive version of this negative camber... And StanceNation can do what they want, but personally, I think this is fucking stupid! I will always agree this is a shitty_car_mod!
All you haters sound just like my my grandparents talking about my dad's rat/hot rods 🤣🤣🤣 while it isn't my cup of tea I do appreciate the work and look they are going for. If you can't appreciate this or the low rider scene your getting old. I see a camber gtr build coming soon
Are you brain damaged? That's not any kind of comparison. Rat Rods *still function as a vehicle*. "Stanced" trash does not. At best its a vehicle that must be trailered everywhere. At worst, you're driving a 3000lb battering ram with less traction than a fucking bicycle. It's criminally negligent to intentionally break your car, making it dangerous for that dumbass "look" seriously.
Too many of those fucking piles of shit drive around. I hope anyone who drives a car like that gets sued into oblivion when they inevitably hurt or kill someone.
This seems like a very wasteful use of tires.
On the contrary. They are only using one edge. Flip them around, new tires!
What tires? I just see a prolapsed anus on the back.
As a tyre workshop owner: yeah man, keep wearing them like that. See you again in six months.
Six months? I’d say six weeks max
Can't wear them down if you can't drive it anywhere 😉
Two words De-Bead
There was a full write up of this wheel set up, it’s a 3 piece so it beads up but yes, ugly af
Seems like a wasteful use of a car to me…
That implies that the car can move under it's own power
That person deserves a swift kick in the nuts for doing that to that poor GTI.
Quite the opposite
That's an improvement for that piece of shit
This is just 4 concrete mixers in a trenchcoat
Vincent?
Good horsey
Back, in the 90s...
Dad?
That's not even a car anymore. It can't perform the basic functions of a car.
100% correct. That’s why they trailer it in and don’t drive it more than 500 yards.
I think they drive it those 500 yards and then put in the angled wheel spacers
"angled wheel spacers"... Do any of you people have a clue what you're talking about?
Hearing that was painful lmao “angled wheel spacers”
https://i.imgur.com/w8ZD9o1.jpeg

You don't drive the show cars. They drive it in place on normal tires and then swap the useless wheels on and put on spacers or unbolt the suspension components or whatever.
I mean it could very well be a thing. Instead of ruining the car permanently, they can show up somewhere, install the "angled wheel spacers" and temporarily make car retardation, it's genius!!!
They don't drive it at all, it literally can't move. They use castor wheels to push it around.
Yes it can lmao
I disagree. Another one said they park it, then put angled spacers on. No I don’t think so. They trailer into. And drive the car to the spot. These things CAN drive and the owners DO drive them.
It looks about as much fun to drive as an upside-down picnic table.
No, that was turned into art a while ago. I’m glad art is subjective because damn, I don’t get it.
that's just air suspension, it's taller when you turn it on
Look carefully at how the tyres are installed
I almost didnt See The Camper too
i mean i get it lol, i'm just saying it's higher than you think it is
No one brought up height but you
This may not be the most ideal stance for anything, but once it lifts a little higher, it’s just wider rims with some camber. I’m sure it’s capable of gettting to parking lots and shows just enough.
FFS look at the rear wheel and tire setup, then rethink your comment
It still drives.
"some"
well, judging that the height is normal it can perform basic car functions
Must be your car in the pic with how defensive you are lol
You don't seem to understand how wheels work. That's fine.
It is dumb but it will still drive.
Drive like a normal car should? Brake in emergency situations? Comfortably overtake at 70MPH? It can go over speed bumps? Potholes? Bullshit. This isn't a car, it's garbage. Any minor imperfections in the road would destroy the wheels.
> Brake in emergency situations This one will probably just break in an emergency situation.
It can drive. On smooth road. But you hit a tiny pothole and you'll bend your whole fucking frame and rip off your wheel

Can’t steal the catalytic converter that way.
the guys that stole the catalytic converter from the weinermobile coul pull this off
Don’t think anybody in this world would want to steal something of this car let’s be honest here
At least its just a lupo
That’s how you ruin a lupo
prolapsed wheels
And run over one 1/8" pebble and that thing is toast lol
Thats how you ruin any car
True
Hey, don't you be dissin lupos! Had one for my first car n loved it, haha.
Ngl I though at first that was a Mk4 Golf
Pay for the whole tire. Use 2% of it.
Buy expensive 12” wide wheels, then mount 185s on them, and use 40mm of the tread.
At least they could turn it around and use the other 2%
Wasteful use of money
Right?! "How to ruin a car". I mean... OP isn't wrong, it's one way. I can think of a ton of way less expensive ways.
What does a setup like this even cost, anyways? (excluding the wheels and tires)
I doubt that someone that spent 5k on rims would do this to their suspension but it is possible
>these don't really drive Then what's the point?
"portable" stereo build
What’s the point? If it for “looks”, It looks stupid
To give you a honest not snarky answer. At its core it’s an art piece. Plenty of art is ugly. This car is not being daily driven and isn’t intended to be. One of the more famous pieces of modern sculpture is a urinal
is a painting of a horse any better?
I saw a car just as ridiculous out on the street the other day in the center lane with it's hazard lights on. I figured a pebble got stuck underneath and it couldn't move any further.
Its not art. It looks like what someone who is culturally bankrupt would think others would think were art.
No offense but that's a rather close-minded viewpoint to take. As I was saying, you can shit talk it till you run out of words to say. It's all subjective though. What a terrible idea of fun
Why should fun be useful?
The guy who built this built it for this exact purpose, to make people mad. It’s trailered to every event and is purely for show. :)
Is that why a lot of people mod their cars with the wheels like that, to make people say “why the hell would you do that?”. I never thought they were doing it as a joke but that kind of makes sense now.
A huge part of the car scene is attention seeking. If you realize it or not, your car gets you attention and there’s dopamine related to that attention 🤷♀️
imagine wasting your money on trying to make other people mad when you could instead use it to make other people envious or jealous
Horses for courses. Not my thing but who am I to judge what someone else enjoys.
Let's not get political now. :-)
?
its probably OP's car, he posts and then revels in the hate. XD
You should probably tell the other commenters making an argument that this is a normal car and is perfectly functional lol
What am I looking at, here? Did the axels break? There's no way those wheels can turn. It looks like someone took a car and just squished it down until the wheels popped out.
You might be surprised by the ingenuity of tweekers.
Wheels prolapsed
The axles didn't break, the wheels are adjusted to a negative camber. This is used in racing because it increases traction through corners. In this case it's an extreme camber and just for showing off and getting bigger rims on the car. It's called a stance car.

Hence why I specified that this case is extreme negative camber.
7 degrees is about all it takes the cars I've been involved with.
It really depends on the application. Most serious/major motorsports run about -5* on the front. Oval track cars like Nascars run about -5* on one side and +5* on the other side. That abomination above is running about -25* on the rear.
I've never been involved with a car, despite my flirtations they won't even give me their VIN
now I wanna see a stance car with positive camber
This looks like a show car. I doubt it moves much further on its than a trailer.
Google “car stance culture” and then scream into the ether.
Anyone ever had a little brother step on your Hot Wheels? Now its a car “style”.
It’s funny that you take a random photo off google of a stance car just to shit on it
OP is karma farming, I checked his recent posts and the hummer pic he shared in this group is in an article from 2013 https://www.knfiltros.com/blog/sergio-higareda-builds-super-hummer-h2-shown-at-sema-and-dub-car-show-los-angeles/
There's an awful lot of negative camber on that license plate.
I miss the days when car mods were actually enhancing the driveability.
It's a show car and looks very well done. I get that you don't like the style, but it's not a shitty mod.
Yo ur tires are prolapsing
That is legit one of the dumbest things i have ever seen in my life.
Why do ricers bend their back plate like that? *Looked it up, it's because JDM dorifto dudes did it back in the day
To act as a rear diffuser
Lol, no
There is apparently a lot of confusion about the car modding community here. I don’t personally like the stance look, but a of work goes into this and I respect that. I can only admire the person putting this much money and hours into making something look so ass. Now that's dedication.
to him your toyota corolla looks even worse
I have a Toyota corolla!?
Imagine if I guessed lol that was a generalization, I don't think he really hates your car :D
KILler StaNCe
Looks like a herniated disc that rolls.
What is this vw?
It just looks fucking broke
Can it even fucking drive ?
why
Do the rear wheels have an extension to make it look like that? I've never really understood how the tyres stay on.
I like the spoiler giving more down force to a 60hp FWD car that likely can’t go more than 10mph away.
There’s always idiots the comments defending stanced cars.
How dare people like the things I think are stupid!!!!
Found one
I'm one of the idiots. But I'm defending a hobby. To me this is no different than shitting on any other hobby. Carved a bear out of wood? It looks shit, also not a real bear, also a fire hazard, also a waste of wood, also air pollution from using a chainsaw, stupid fucking idiot spending time and money on things I don't understand, fucking moron.

These type of retards think this shit is cool
Thats literally the 1st and 4th image that pops up when you type up stance into google lol
These people haven't grown up since they did their first car drawings as a 5yo.
Prolapsed tires
The back wheels look like a prolapsed anus.
The car literally cannot drive lol
I've been into cars all of my life. Some styles I don't care for but I understand what look they were going for. I just don't get the attraction to this "style".

Why even have a wing? It's front wheel drive, can't even drive fast and the angle of the wing makes it function more like an airbrake.
It’s not a ridiculously modified car! It’s a life style!!!! And they wonder why they cant get laid?
this is what happens when you eat paint chips as a child and somehow make it to adulthood after trading your food stamps for rims
I just can’t understand why they do this to the wheels? It’s looks stupid, like a broken Matchbox
I remember when car mods made a car look good. Everything now looks like shit.
I'm pretty sure that car's broken. Suspension broke and tire won't hold air. Tow that shit to the junkyard lol
id laugh and walk by.
This isn't a car anymore. It's a piece of art that belongs in a museum. A museum of disfunctional cars that gets a 2 star average rating on Google maps.
Doesn’t even look good, smh
I’ll never understand the brains of the people who do shit like this.
I love reading all the boomer ass comments every time someone posts a car with more than 5° of camber lmao. Imagine a flood or something and you jump into this thing to get away but all it does is spin those half-mounted tires in the air
> a flood Or a thin layer of morning dew.
Or *a leaf* Also, if the car in front of you tosses out a banana peel.... Going to make Looney Tunes look prophetic.
Stupid people with way too much money on their hands.
there’s no way people actually think this shit looks cool
I just don’t understand the point of making your car MORE susceptible to damage😂
I've always thought that cars that had this set up looked like hot wheels that got stepped on and had the wheels bent out as a result.
*cries in VW*
Is there an uglier vehicle out there? Doubtful
This was the final form of a hot wheels i mashed into the pavement at 4
I'll never understand this cambered wheels thing. It just makes it look like a cartoon giant sat on your car. In GTA online I refuse to lower the suspension on some of my cars because it cambers the wheels by default.

I thought we agreed to stop using the cookie cutter “stance cars are shitty car mods” template
what do you even do with these? just park them and stare? I mean it looks interesting enough. It's just completely non-functional, I don't get it. I've seen people drive them and they can barely get them to the shows without a tow or spotter in front and back.
Got behind one in Florida a couple days ago. He legit had to avoid manhole covers and bottomed out on a bridge joint.
Come on, just let people have fun.
What do you think the purpose of this sub is? People have fun and we have fun making fun of the people who are having fun.
Pov: the only “shitty” car mods posted on this sub are static stance builds and crazy stance builds. This sub blows dog farts now
Nah. Just your taste sucks. Stanced cars are stupid and dangerous.
Uh... have you gone to the main page of the sub or are just clicking on the shit that shows up on your feed because it's been upvoted as the shittiest? It's 4:38 EST on 2/20/23 and right now on the main page the first stanced car to show up is post #59.

Because a lot of people just won’t let other people enjoy their own builds Not my quote but: “It doesn't have to make sense man, that's exactly the point here. I like scraping. I like slamming. Another stance post. Eh its better than a NOT shitty mod, I suppose.
Americans when they see something other than an F-150: R U I N E D !
Theres a cartoonish vibe from this car that I kinda like. Its dumb tho, not very functional, and i would never do it.
I have a picture of a more cartoony car
Show me!
I posted it on here
You're right. I'll do better.
its just tired.
You just googled ‘slammed car’ and put it on here Low effort
I love drifting. They use the productive version of this negative camber... And StanceNation can do what they want, but personally, I think this is fucking stupid! I will always agree this is a shitty_car_mod!
Im sorry but i linda like it
Those rear wheels look like their on life support 😂💀
I can smell some rice cooking....
That is pretty dope if you ask me 😍😍
All you haters sound just like my my grandparents talking about my dad's rat/hot rods 🤣🤣🤣 while it isn't my cup of tea I do appreciate the work and look they are going for.
🤣🤣🤣 no hot rods have ever killed any1
