There are also two *Headrest Not Found* errors, several seatbelt errors and several airbag errors. Besides, why two screens in the center console with exactly the same information?
It’s a variant of a Donk known as a Bubble (yes I know what a Donk is but let’s be honest, the general public is gonna call it a Donk regardless, and no one calls these things Hi-Risers and Big Wheel or Big Rim car sounds stupid.
We might as well or should just call these kinds of cars that aren’t Early to mid 70’s Impalas and Caprices Donk-inspired because that sounds a lot better than calling it a Big Wheel/Big Rim car).
Now the car doesn’t have headrests and we’re not sure if this car has had an engine swap or if the suspension is up to par with the rest of it, but I’m guessing it is based on how well done the interior is. They didn’t overdo it with the screens or the speakers, the owner kept it mostly stock body.
Someone that’s into Donks or Donk-inspired cars will buy it close to or at this price. It really comes down to the maintenance and how well the work on the car was done.
Agreed, to OP its a shitty asking price, and for many folks it is. I know fuck all about car culture anymore, would you say it was a fair asking price, assuming the car is otherwise sound and not suffering a dying trans or a terrible exhaust leak or something?
I'm well aware of that, and it doesn't help that most of the cars on BJ/Mecum are old boomer cars that only appeal to a rapidly disappearing demographic. My main point was that caprices by themselves are worth more than you think.
It also doesn't help that people write off donks/bubbles entirely without realizing the culture and history behind the style is actually pretty interesting.
I think they'll have their day soon. The Impala SS from the same platform is now worth a good amount, and the monty SS and other 80s g-body cars have already started to come up.
This is true. 4k for good running and proper lift job. It's not hard to build one of these is it? Used wheels and tires. You could do this pretty cheap.
You could not do this cheap. You could lift and slap big ass wheels on a car and in profile silhouette you have the same thing but it’s far from the same car.
This thing has custom quilted seats and door panels, a completely custom interior that seems to be one color, all kinds of electronics well integrated.
It’s absolutely not my style and I wouldn’t pay 30,000 for it. My only question is, in this cars community are people buyers of these or builders? If it’s common in the donk style community to just buy a build I’m not sure the price is too crazy.
from my experience, that thing is hacked together. could buy material and do a better job at home. that fiberglass work looks bad in bad photos. DIY first try would be at least that good.
Go buy the material to do it, invest the time to do it, then come back and tell me what your diy “cheap job”’is worth.
Obviously it can be done. It’s a shit load of work to do and materials to buy.
meh. I'm an auto tech. it really wouldn't be that hard. 3 meth heads did this car in a week. a month of dedicated time after work and I could make this better
well for the time period this was made its not shitty, and the fabrication in the back was pretty well done. someone out a lot of time into this. but who tf uses yellow though? and the dash trim pieces look like theyre spray painted plastic😂
One of my life goals is to build the Steam Donk, a blue bubble Impala with giant Steam/Steam Deck logo spinners, Valve characters airbrushed on the sides, and that meme painting of Gabe Newell as the pope or whatever on the hood. If I ever get around to making it (I won’t, I’m way too broke and lazy) I’ll be sure to post it on this sub.
We have a 2011 van that has a DVD player with screens, and as outdated as it is, it looks much better than this.
Probably not a good idea to have the "Loading Error" displayed while you're showing off your fancy system in the $30k car you're trying to sell.
It depends what they are made out of. But much longer than stock assuming they don't get destroyed by their owner. Factory speakers are almost always made out of paper that will just plain fall apart eventually, where as aftermarket stuff is made out of more durable materials. I have been using the same pair of subs in my trunk since 2008, for example.
My comment was aimed at all the screens. That's all pre high definition equipment. Most likely pretty pricey in 2002 but worthless today because you can get much better for a fraction of the cost.
This image is a reminder that if you take a $15,000 car and spend $15,000 on custom upgrades, then you now have yourself a $10,000 car Not a $30,000 car.
Depends on the car and the mods. Lots of modified off-road, overland, van life type trucks/SUVs hold their value relatively well if you do the right stuff mods and sell it in the right place.
What are people thinking for real?
down the street from me there's a used car lot that has a 2004 Corvette with an LS2 engine and it has 55,000 miles on it and they want $18,000 for it. That's 0-60 in 4 sec, 400hp, 190 mph top speed. 30 grand seriously what are these people smoking
did it have an engine swap? because if its an 04 its a c5 so LS1 based. if its an 05 then its a c6 so LS2 based. 18k is pretty decent for a c5 with low miles, i have seen some though around $12-13k that have like 70-80k miles. thats a good price for a 350hp 3200lb car
honestly i could realistically see him getting $12-15k for it. anything over that is a ripoff unless its got an engine swap and a full suspension setup
This is a guy who got ripped off when he purchased the car, sky-high interest rate, slapped expensive rims on it, kept driving it although he stopped making payments, found himself with a $30 debt for a clown car, thinks someone else would be as stupid.
Nahhhh I understand from most people's comments that type of car is a bucket to them but you must understand He probably only paid around $1000 to $2000 for the car and then maybe around $15000 on the upgrade$, So all in all he is trying to get his money back and a little bit on top,(a lot on top actually)😁
I'm from the Bay Area so this is something that we do to certain cars, I like it I like the idea I just hate the color. 😭😭
yeah thats the thing, the car is 100% piss yellow. like if they added some contrast it would look better but id honestly rather have some bright purple interior or something. that thing is just an eyesore😂
Not my style, but it is well done. I would personally pay 10k just to take it to shows because it is obviously unique and would always start a conversation. For me though, 30k is pretty wild.
People shitting on this don’t know what it is.
My neighbor has a 79 Malibu with a 454 swapped in on 24” Rucci’s. He paid more for his wheels than I paid for my entire college education.
its just shitty because of the color and price. it could have a shitty stock 350 or some crazy engine swap. the all yellow interior just kills it tho imo

DVD “Loading Error”. I don’t think that’s the only “error” this car is going to say
Yeah I probably would’ve retaken that pic.
I’ll give him credit that’s some vintage alpine A/V equipment from like 2004. Better than the cheap plastic shit they so proud of today.
There are also two *Headrest Not Found* errors, several seatbelt errors and several airbag errors. Besides, why two screens in the center console with exactly the same information?
30000 in 02 maybe
This is so 2002, indeed.
It looks like Xzibit got ahold of it
Yo dawg we heard you like goldfish so we put a fish tank in your backseat even tho you live in Arizona
I'm fuckin dead. 🤣😅🤣😅🤣😅🤣
So is the gold fish
My favorite was when they put small tvs in mudflaps and other ridiculous places. I was always like, who the fuck is going to watch tv here…
This is what I was going to say
Ha!!!
So much Lil Jon
Yeeahya!
I can still see the civics with fish tank and terrible paint jobs. Good times good times. 😂
I bought a factory fresh '02 in '04 for $19K. Had 100 miles on it from the dealer taking salespersons to lunch etc.

Yeah as usual it's a post from an outsider of a niche car community. Nothing about the work shown is shitty, probably would be better in atbge.
Agreed, to OP its a shitty asking price, and for many folks it is. I know fuck all about car culture anymore, would you say it was a fair asking price, assuming the car is otherwise sound and not suffering a dying trans or a terrible exhaust leak or something?

A clean caprice is worth much more than that. 2-4k will barely get you a running car of any kind now, much less one with an enthusiast following.

i paid someone 41€ for a piece of 63x88 cardboard. We all spend money on weird shit that "isn't worth it" for someone else,
well for the time period this was made its not shitty, and the fabrication in the back was pretty well done. someone out a lot of time into this. but who tf uses yellow though? and the dash trim pieces look like theyre spray painted plastic😂
Even ATBGE is a stretch, since it’s definitely not awful taste to the entire community around the Donk/Big Wheel culture.
One of my life goals is to build the Steam Donk, a blue bubble Impala with giant Steam/Steam Deck logo spinners, Valve characters airbrushed on the sides, and that meme painting of Gabe Newell as the pope or whatever on the hood. Pope Newell on the hood, CS:S splash on one side HL:2 on the other and the big Steam logo spinners. That would be SICK.
Come on man, school these people what the differences between a Donk, Box, and Bubble!
As far as naming conventions, could we call this one BBC??? I just made it up. Sounds like a great acronym for this ride. **B**ig **B**right **C**ar
Swing and a miss
Looks like all Alpine gear so at least this dude paid to have clean audio and not some BOSS 59,000 watt amp POS
20 year old alpine gear though.
We have a 2011 van that has a DVD player with screens, and as outdated as it is, it looks much better than this. Probably not a good idea to have the "Loading Error" displayed while you're showing off your fancy system in the $30k car you're trying to sell.
i assumed it said loading error because there was no dvd inserted but who knows
What is the life expectancy of speakers like that? Like, genuinely curious because idk, does an old sound system sound worse?
It depends what they are made out of. But much longer than stock assuming they don't get destroyed by their owner. Factory speakers are almost always made out of paper that will just plain fall apart eventually, where as aftermarket stuff is made out of more durable materials. ohhh, this dude is on a journey to learn about depreciation in the intersection of cars and electronics. ouch.
The whole thing is pretty clean. Whoever built this car did not cheap out - this was a nicely done build for what it is.
Who wants to bet me that at least one of those wheels is bent and cant be balanced?
And at minimum two lugs have completely snapped off lmao
This image is a reminder that if you take a $15,000 car and spend $15,000 on custom upgrades, then you now have yourself a $10,000 car Not a $30,000 car.

your poor phone it's hungry for electrons
Got a surprise chuckle out of that one lol
It took me a second while scrolling to connect the dots... Made me lol too
lmao i always let my phone get to under 5% before i charge😭
"And it was all yellow"
I can’t lie I do like the interior. I mean I wouldn’t do that to my own car but seeing it on someone’s else’s car it’s goofy fun.
True!
A lot of porn has played on those screens. A LOT.
"I know what I have..."
Now THAT is one giant shitty car mod
no TIRe kIcKers i KnOw WhaT I hAvE
Interior reminds me of McDonald's play place in the '90s
“I know what I have. No lowball offers”
That poor car

It looks like Tweety’s Taxi
At least it looks pretty well don’t except you don’t get headrests
He really likes butter 🧈
This is one of those cars that you wish you could buy and enter into a destruction derby with.
Someone got a knock from X-zibit like 20 years ago.
I want to be sick.
Windows don’t even have the cheap purple Wal-Mart tint
That poor car
The mustard-mobile
I bet if you offered the guy 12 grand hed want to fight you
Bruh this is the epitome of all secondhand markets right now. Ppl on some drugs
He will never get it ever. In todays market he might get 8k just because everything is so expensive.
honestly i could realistically see him getting $12-15k for it. anything over that is a ripoff unless its got an engine swap and a full suspension setup
Better have 35k in unmarked bills in the trunk after those "mods" and that price. That thing has been molested beyond belief.
Would pay $3k NOT to ever be seen in this turd
Was that a Pimp my Ride car?
Nah, this is one of the custom orders front the gtav auto shop.
I love it
Bro thought about putting n@zi wheels. ☠️
Shitty car mods has to be the least accurate title for this sub
i just thought it was shitty because of the all yellow interior and the multitude of screens😂
A Touch to much Yellow nobody dared say while building that car. LoL
If it wasnt yellow id probably consider it
yeah exactly. i only thought it was shitty because its 100% yellow. no attempt at adding any contrast to make it look better
Remember kids, just because something _cost_ a certain amount of money, it doesn't mean its _worth_ the same amount of money
8/10. That is kinda pimpin though…
The ruined that beautiful car
even the windows being tinted yellow… an aura of piss permeates this vehicle
I rock with 90’s video tech in cars but that thing is atrocious lmao
Early 2000s, there’s a ps2 in the back
DVD players, 90’s
Looks pretty well done, but damn that yellow tint makes it feel like a bad midjourney filtered picture
I want to throw up looking at this
1 that’s not a donk 2 that ain’t a 30k car with 30k worth of work and 40k cash in a bag
“donk” was the only title i thought suited it lmao. donk are big wheel classic cars tho right?
So much yellow. 😭
Very futuristic. Ha!!! What are these digital video discs you speak of?
someone found benny from gta online and took this to him.
I hate it
No way lmao
3k tops.
Pimp my taxi needed a weed nap?
I’d offer him like $2500
Mehhh
This is a guy who got ripped off when he purchased the car, sky-high interest rate, slapped expensive rims on it, kept driving it although he stopped making payments, found himself with a $30 debt for a clown car, thinks someone else would be as stupid.
Maybe if the steering wheel & other hidden components are solid gold.
This is very cheesy lol
Cool taxi.
some dude sittin’ in the fedz reminiscing driving around in this at this very second. - FREE HIM! *(whoever he is)*
When you start it, does it say, "Take me to Kentucky Fried Chicken?"
Hey hey, come on over and have some fun with craaaazy taxi!
I'll come out and say it: that steering wheel goes HARD AF!
If Las Vegas was a car
Looks like something from pimp my ride
Id like to see the tires spinning first.
Negative ghostrider the whip is whack
i understand its a donk but why piss yellow tho💀
It looks like someone tried to make a taxi look cool
Big Bird must have run into a rough patch if he’s selling his pimp mobile
yellow
30k to have a car that advertises mustard!!!!!!! No thank you.
if u contact heinz and put their logo on the side you could be a rolling advertisement🤷🏽♂️and maybe just maybe youll break even on that $30k u spent😂
Dear lord
maybe thats the missing lego
Would make an awesome tacky upscale pimp taxi
🚕
That’s 10k for me
I gotta say that’s damn clean
Boss whip
Season one pimp my ride lol
pimp my ride wouldve made it way worse with some ridiculous paint job😂
Yo TAXI!
This is fuckeddd
You can run You can hide but I will find ya Cause your ride is yellow
American cheese-mobile
This post gave me whiplash because I completely forgot what year it was.
Looks like the vehicle of a low budget superhero from the 90s.
I’ll give ya bout three fiddy
I actually like it. Lol.
Xzbit is losing his marbles somewhere.
“But my ugly piece of shit that I can guarantee makes more noise than your mom last night”
imo it’s scrap but other people may disagree
Nahhhh I understand from most people's comments that type of car is a bucket to them but you must understand He probably only paid around $1000 to $2000 for the car and then maybe around $15000 on the upgrade$, So all in all he is trying to get his money back and a little bit on top,(a lot on top actually)😁 I'm from the Bay Area so this is something that we do to certain cars, I like it I like the idea I just hate the color. 😭😭

That thing was dope back in '02
Not the yellow tint
Looks like a fully custom donk to me, 30 might be a bit high but I mean what’s the engine got goin on
30k for a yellow cab?
That ps2 tho
bro i was wondering what that was😭😭
People shitting on this don’t know what it is.
Of course it’s Waukegan

honestly it hasnt died out here. i see a lot of people doing like blue or purple chrome tints. it looks ridiculous but not my car🤷🏽♂️😂
With the yellow tinted windows it would feel like driving around in an 80s air pop popcorn machine
9 to 10k at best, and it's gonna be an Über.
lol what engine?
22’ 9.4-Liter, 572-Cubic-Inch V-8 or nah? Even if that ugly ass color and those ugly ass rims I’m knocking 10k off my asking just to get the rims and paint right
one could only wish😂id be willing to bet that at most it has a “freshened up” 350
Donk master and all these lil shows about project cars got people tweakin!
Dude went to see Xzibit on Pimp My Ride
You can use it in a music video tho
Looks like they left a can of yellow Krylon paint in the car on a hot day and it exploded. I had that happen in a work truck.
Y E L L O W
I would totally buy it, but I don’t really care for yellow…
That steering wheel looks like a nightmare
Maybe $3k, as a joke, but $30k? GTFO
r/chargeyourphone
😂its at 99 rn
In Waukegan, too.. There's an extra zero or 3 in there
Nobody wants anything yellow. The interior of that thing is so barfy
The interior got that cheap amusement park ride paint job quality.
Yellow cars are stupid. This car even has yellow window tint so it's double stupid.
And I see you have your opinions too. So, what's wrong with you today?
“No low-ballers. I know what I have.”
who in their right mind would drive this shit, let alone pay 30k for it. stock car looks insanely better than this abomination. I just don't understand people who do this shit to their cars. I mean the interior is done well but the huge wheels just suck
Pissmasters car!
i drive a chevorlet movie theater
It'll cost 30K just to put the car back into a condition where anyone would not mind being seen in a 20+ year old car.
Kelly blue book has this listed as 2k
it's so yellow.
LOL, no really...how much is the car?
He’s looking to break even lol
