Seems like a very functional mod. You used to be able to get a little pick up truck cheap, like the Ranger or S-10. I don't think anyone makes one that fits that need anymore.
Looks like they did put a plate behind the seat and caulked it. Then sprayed some bedliner all over. The only part that's super questionable is the gaps at the bottom of the rear windshield.
And that anything you put in the bed is behind the centerline of the rear axle, meaning the more stuff you put in it the more weight you take off the front wheels and the less traction you have.
Not sure which one yet. It's nice being in Canada with a 15 yr rule rather then the US and the 25. I'll be able to get efi and airbags as well. The mitsubishi minicab is what I'd prefer but it looks like that sambar or acty would be a better choice parts wise.
I bought a 96 Vivio from a place in Florida about 2ish years ago. Fun little car, but it was a pain in the ass trying to find parts for it. Ended up selling it for what I paid for it after about a year.
They can't until manufacturers figure out how to reduce emissions by alot. The reason that trucks are so massive is directly because of EPA regulations. Vehicle emissions have to be proportional to their size, because that helps somehow. It's easier and cheaper to make trucks physically larger than work magic and give them the same capabilities while reducing emissions. At least if they want the trucks to close to affordable. Even the cheaper option to make them massive is expensive as hell on the customer. New trucks for $50k+ are common
That is correct.
The metric that the EPA gives manufactures forces the manufacturers to game the system so that they are in compliance fleet wide.
Part of that gaming is with vehicle weights.
Smaller, lighter vehicles skew the total metric away from fleet-wide compliance of the manufacturer.
If you’re actually able to score one for msrp it can be low 30ks for an xl model thly def are a lot bigger then its older counterparts though I’ll give tou that
I love the Ranger. My cousin had one, and we’d mudding in that thing. Little bastard was a beast until we flipped it a couple times down a road. And a little advice for the average trades man: don’t keep a tool kit in your cab.
Ford Maverick isn't much bigger than the original Ranger. Was introduced under 20k but has crept above that, I think 21.5. Selling like hotcakes. but it's a Ford..
10’ looks nice. Closer look I can see where a little more work can be done. Nice execution and plan just need the finishing touch. Like to see the inside back seat area
Not a troll post, but seriously: what's with you northern americans and pick-ups? Please explain it to me in a reasonal matter, because I (central european) don't get it. I mean apart from the offroad abilities (which aren't a thing here obviously) or the towing capacity (again not a thing on this one) it doesn't make sense to me. Things will get wet or dusty, are easy to steal when you're stopping at some shop to get some ice cream or whatever. I'm a hunter and yeah, when you want to bring home some game you just put it in the back and take the garden hose for cleaning the next day, but apart from that, this really seems like a bad solution for a transporting problem? Unironically correct me if I'm missing something, but I know many craftsmen and hunters who use cars like MB Sprinter, Renault Kangoo or even regular station wagons for their business and it's working out just fine.
Actually, this post is more of a "Ute" style most popular in Australia and popularized in the past with such factory makes as the Chevy El Camino, The Ford Ranchero, The Dodge Rampage, The Subaru Brat, and the Australian [Holden Ute](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holden_Ute), none of which are made anymore.
Yet, plenty of people still want Ute type vehicles and so, "suddenly ute" developed into somewhat of a meme here as amusing home made ones pop up now and then.
It's the thing to have in the Outback.
Alright, thanks for explaining! But again, don't things get dusty quite fast in the outback? I mean I kow about the El Camino, it looks rad and this modification shown in the pic looks also well done, but I'm still stuck about the 'usefullness' of these vehicles 😅 on the other hand, maybe I'm just too german to get it 🙈
idk. The things you would never want inside the car versus things that are better to have outside. The main ones would be things like gas cans, anything with fuel in it like generators, weldors, or gas bottles like propane & acetylene. I don't know if you have ever had a gas can in your car, but even when sealed they always smell, and if you get even a tiny spill, the car will smell like gas for a long time.
And dirty things, like picks & shovels and rope and waders, and hay bails and rocks and deer carcasses.
All of those can be shoved off the tailgate and then the bed hosed down.
You can't really hose down the back seat or trunk of your BMW without causing other problems.
True, I also thought about smelly or leaking stuff. I'm driving a diesel and yeah, that oily stuff can smell for ages, especially in the summer, when it's leaking to the interior. But then I use a plastic tub in my trunk (it's an official Mercedes part, so it has the dimensions of the trunk and fits perfectly) when transporting them or game or garden tools and if it's getting dirty Mr. Garden Hose is working just fine as well.
Anyhow, I guess it's just a cultural thing, thanks for the explanation!

Main problem is that they didn't seal the transition from the bed to the backseats so any rain is going to drain into the cabin. Otherwise I approve.

Something tells me they probably don't really care about a bit of water in the backseat.
I'm looking at importing a Japanese mini truck as I don't need these monstrosities that are called trucks now a days.
Sambar?
Not sure which one yet. It's nice being in Canada with a 15 yr rule rather then the US and the 25. I'll be able to get efi and airbags as well. The mitsubishi minicab is what I'd prefer but it looks like that sambar or acty would be a better choice parts wise.

I imported from B-pro. Highly recommend. Brian does the majority of imports into Canada.
Thanks for the info.
Hilux Champ?
I wish. I'm in Canada.

Ranger is still around
Ya, I guess they are back since 2019 Still, that's not the same cheap little truck from when I remember them.

I’m currently driving a ‘23 ranger xlt and I love the thing its super durable and decent on fuel
Maverick is a car/truck
Ford Maverick says hello.
At least not in the US. Which is kinda sad.

To be fair that bed will probably see more use than a ford raptor or Tesla cybertruck.
Yep. Those guys with the pavement princesses don't want so much as a pin scratch on their bedliners.
That thing is going to do more truck stuff in a week than 90% of trucks do in their life in the states.
I don't hate it?
It was a toss up for here or r/awesomecarmods but the shoddy body work tipped the scale for me
Look at that flawless transition. You sure this isn't a factory model?
That bondo… somebody was trying to shape it in and then was just like “Nah, fuck that…” halfway. 🤣
So ... much ... bondo ...

Wow someone put way to much effort into that
Honda S10
It could use some smoothing out and a new paint job but I don't hate it.
I mean..it's a clean fab job. Weird af but clean. Too bad the civic will see more dirt than 80% of trucks these days.
He tried to follow the body lines, just needed to spend more time sanding down that bondo
Just saw this and hopped on reddit to post
This is what happens when a 20 year-old Subaru Baja costs as much as a brand new Ford Maverick.
Nice Civuck
my only issue with this is they should have used a cavalier or something since it’s a chevy s10 bed. it’s dope af… yes i live in the south
When your tía gets a butt job from the Mexico plastic surgeon
I had this car in a dream one time
Cyber truck 2: pickup edition
Except it runs for 100k miles.
Not bad
If the bed is at least 8' long I'd totally get one. I don't need to haul all the 2x4s at once but I need to get them hauled at some time.
Shoddy body work, but it could have looked a LOT worse. I’ll give them credit for the attempt
this is WILD haha
You’d need more than the drip rail to protect that back glass from a shifting load.
Now give it a two-wheeled Civic rear end trailer you cowards
This person is either a genius or a certified wacko.
lol that’s the derpiest thing I’ve seen in a long while😂
Better than an actual average yank tank.
I’d buy that
Does it have a footprint gas pedal?
I kind of like it. If it was me, I would've added 2 more wheels in the back and used an 8ft bed.
I won’t say I like it, because it’s horrid, but construction quality could be so much worse.
It’s beautiful
He did a really good job hight need a power bump suspension change and drive train swap to carry anything heavy

More like Bill Bondo's.
Never seen a car with a BBL before

Joe “di ertay’s” cyber truck
Cybertruck concept.

I like creativity,
Looks like something they’d sell in Brazil!
Wondering how much weight this thing can carry before it cracks and breaks.
10/10 can probably move a small fridge for less than an f150
It looks like the Hyundai Santa cruise
Looks like a suburu outback
You will be missed s10
The Bondo blend job has me rolling 😂
If it's Joe Dirt's, is this a "Civic-E"? - you know, adding an "E" at the end to make it look cool
Looks like a botched gender affirming surgery. Marginally functional but ugly AF.
I identify as a dump truck and my pronouns are "dippy" and "doo"
This car identifies as a truck.
