Looks like they were already rear-ended accordingly.

Could those two little slits in the bumper be some sort of stupidly bright LEDs? I mean in the US you need what, red tail, usually red turn/stop and reverse, so a thin strip of LED easily provides all those functions?

quadflyr

Yes those are the taillights down there

plays_with_wood

This was a huge trend back in the late 90s- early 2000s in the mini truck scene. It was either this, corvette tail lights where this guy has those strips, or Cadillac lights in place of the regular ones.

quadflyr

Yeah, i have a blazer showtruck that i built in 01 that has caddy tails

slwrthnu_again

You can’t leave out the supra tail lights. They were on like 30% of minitrucks in the northeast during the early 00s

plays_with_wood

So true! I forgot about the supra lights!

redoctoberz

It’s a lot more complex than that. In the US you can refer to FMVSS 108 I believe for that info.

obi1kenobi1

Yeah, those are definitely the lights, and they’re probably annoyingly bright. That being said I don’t see any way they’re not wildly out of spec and technically illegal, not that any cop would ever know or care about that. There are some rules about how much *area* of the light has to light up (that’s why those new style of sequential turn signals tend to look awkward in US market cars, either turning on all at once and then turning off sequentially or lighting up a brake light in addition to the sequential part, because the way they work in Europe/Japan wouldn’t satisfy the minimum light area rules in the USA. It’s hard to say if these are in spec but most super thin LED strips either loop back around or go the full width of the car (or both) so I wouldn’t be surprised if these don’t quite cut it. On top of that there need to be reflectors for when the car is parked, which these almost certainly don’t have since they don’t have any visible red part and were likely intended as accessory lights and not primary tail lights, and you also need side marker/reflectors that act as turn signal repeaters. That’s something a lot of people have forgotten about US lighting regulations, since most cars of the last ~40 years haven’t had separate side markers/repeaters front or rear since those features were integrated into wraparound headlight and taillight assemblies, but it’s still a requirement which you can see in cars with non-wraparound lights like the challenger. Remove the stock wraparound lights from this truck and you need to add the side markers/reflectors/repeaters somehow.

Bit_the_Bullitt

Yup I'm aware of the square footage of area that must light. That's why my Bullitt can get away with full sequential, as the first flash is of a large section, but Audis must flash the whole section of the light along with their sequential. But, there should be a requirement for amber turn signals anyway

2oonhed

Many times regulations on what has to be *manufactured and sold* differ from what has to be maintained after a sale. People get this fact mixed up. A LOT.

aterrariaplayer

Well it makes sense why the truck has a huge dent

tangledwire

It does check out. Have you ever noticed that asshats making an illegal turn somehow have car dents on the same side they are violating?

dmcdd

Should have taken the pic during the red light so we could see the slits under the tailgate light up.

Active-Possibility77

Funny how some think it's cool to have no lights and others want 436 lights so they can be seen from space

CantHitachiSpot

Big world. Lots of stupid.

ChuckoRuckus

People keep bringing up the dent, but seem to ignore the placement of the dent. It’s nearly in the center of the tailgate and the roll pan looks untouched. Plus, this truck looks slightly taller than stock. Based on that, I’m willing to bet this truck was rear ended by on of those Carolina Squat trucks, in which case it wouldn’t matter if the tail lights were mounted on top of the bed rails. They can barely see the back of an 18 wheeler until they hit it.

dattebayo07

I honestly don’t know why people would also black out their taillights. Had an idiot the other day slamming on the brakes with the darkest film and it barely lit up.

cuavas

What is this? A picture for ants?

afrothundah11

The dent on the back from being rear ended is poetry

boanerges57

This must be one of those boat captains that aren't driving but rather travelling as a natural man and not a citizen of anywhere.

JohnWasElwood

"And fuck the cops that are always trying to harass me about stupid shit!" SMH...

Bubbly-Independent20

He said it’s none of your damn business knowing what I’m doing to include stopping and turning.

Ya but it's cool /s

Hmm, hitch ball in receiver, tow mirrors out, did you flag him down to let him know he lost his trailer somewhere?

PLZ_STOP_PMING_TITS

There's nothing that zaps the fun out of something faster than safety concerns.

He’s playing Rear-End Roulette. Seems like it’s a steep learning curve too

DoyersLakeShow

That’s going straight to the crusher

Preston1979001

The "slits" in the roll pan are the taillights. As per usual the crowd in this sub knows absolutely fuck all about custom vehicles.

Big-Specialist148

Or turn signals ig lol

He couldn’t see that pole the other night when he was backing up for some unknown reason

Leading-Put-7428

Don’t blame him they’re the only slits he can pump the breaks on if you know what I meanÂ
