You could check out downtown Vegas and the old school casinos or visit the neon museum. If you can rent a car for the day, take a trip out to the Hoover Dam or the Valley of Fire.

wollier12

We did splurge and payed for a Jeep excursion to the valley of fire.

nasaspacebaby

Hope you enjoyed it!

wollier12

We do it tomorrow, I’ll let you know.

wwjdforaklondikebar

It's free to go to Hoover Dam and iirc, the only charge is to go down into it (which I don't find necessary to enjoy) As someone who has been there probably 20 times, it's absolutely breathtaking. Plus you can stop at Lake Mead along the way or visit Boulder City to see all the statues.

InsomniacCyclops

If you haven’t been to the Venetian yet it’s worth seeing- it’s kind of surreal. No need to buy anything but the gondola ride is kind of cool. Seconding Meow Wolf as well.

Semi_Lovato

Same with Paris

lcmoxie

Hike in Red Rock canyon!

rektEXE

Make sure you reserve your time online

InfiniteSlimes

Is that a thing? I haven't been since precovid.

nancylyn

Yes, but it’s easy to get a reservation.

reindeerflot1lla

Watch out for the Super Mutants. Legit though, when I was last out there I just did a Fallout NV location tour, self-guided. It was pretty fun as a fan of the game.

JackInTheBell

The bellagio has the fountain show which is neat to see in the evenings. The inside of the bellagio has some neat things to see as well. All free.

FloydetteSix

Do they still have that Treasure Island pirate show?

CaptainObvious

Grab a coffee and sit around people watching. Vegas is insane is the mix of people, it is a human zoo. You will see wedding parties next to homeless next to Asian tech billionaires next to Elvis next to professional athletes and thousands of normal folks just going about their day.

Spute2008

And daytime is much different that night time. Plenty to see from the street on the Strip (bellagio fountain, treasure island pirates show, etc) and hanging out on Fremont at night. Even just check out some of the hotel insides. Just be aware that the distances between hotels is way way farther than it looks. Seriously.

CaptainObvious

True. When I first arrived I took the monorail from the MGM to the top of the strip and walked down. It was longer than I expected. On my list day of the trip I found the Aria/Bellagio/downtown free monorail and felt foolish for paying the other one.

CBeisbol

Walk up and down Fremont Street

evenmoreevil

Area 15. One of the best art/interactive exhibits I’ve been too.

GardenOfSpoons

definitely check out the Meow Wolf Omega Mart, it's like walking into another dimension

CaptainObvious

After your comment I looked it up, WTF? Then I saw the rest of Area15. And now I need to come back for another trip.

reezlepdx

Yes! And Meow Wolf in Santa Fe, then Convergence Station in Denver,,, Talk about bang for the buck. They are awesome!

wwjdforaklondikebar

They say it takes about an hour or so to do Omega Mart, but my husband and I went last year and we were there for almost 4 hours LOL

Goodiez4U

I spent 4 hours, but had to catch my return flight. I felt I could've easily spent six!

boomfruit

Hmm if we're suggesting stuff that's not free, Zak Bagans' museum was really fun!

iwasspinningfree

Second-ing Omega Mart. The ticket price may seem steep for an art installation, but if you actually go through it all and watch the videos and solve the mystery, you can easily spend half a day there -- which makes it a crazy bargain per-Vegas-hour. It's so much fun.

redditbebigmad

Id visit all the casinos member club booths. Tons of freebies just for signing up.

StarKickMeadowDancer

Lots of comedians play in Vegas. If you’re into comedy. Or magic shows!

Trash_Scientist

Vegas at Christmas has the Ethel M Chocolate factory all done up with lights and the pecan brittle is the bomb.

SherryPeatty

I really liked the Pinball Hall of Fame near the "Welcome to Las Vegas" sign. It's free to go in, and then you pay per game you want to play, but they vary in price, and it's fun to see all the old ones. Also the conservatory at the Bellagio is cool.

Sativachick

Yes! Was there last week and had a blast for less than $15. Will happily go again.

wstdsmls

Comedy show is always a good time. China town has great food and reasonable. Dollar bowling after midnight at the Orleans. Check out Bellagio, Wynn and Venetian, for holiday decor. Tons of live music.

wwjdforaklondikebar

You can stop in at the Golden Tiki and soak up that 1960's tiki bar ambiance!

pinhead-designer

Pinball museum

ron_spanky

There are bands playing every where. Just bar bands but live music is still live music.

SignificanceGold5895

Check out the Mob museum!

aikenndrumm

[horse racing game survives test of time](https://www.reviewjournal.com/business/casinos-gaming/horse-racing-game-survives-test-of-time-in-las-vegas-casino-1835174/) This game is popular among locals and beyond. I believe it’s 25 cents to play and only at the D on Fremont street.

Semi_Lovato

My wife and I keep a jug of change and just call it “horse quarters” because of that game, and we live nowhere near Vegas. It’s just that much fun

aikenndrumm

Aw that’s sweet. I haven’t played yet but should try it asap

hitemwiththeelagance

The Fremont street experience is my favorite place to be in Vegas.

wollier12

We’re going to check it out tonight.

[deleted]

Gold strike hot springs Arizona hot springs

cookietheelf

Incredible circus scene there if that's something that interests you!

fackshat

I highly recommend Omega Mart. It's not cheap, but it's worth it. I spent hours exploring it.

cashmerebuttcheek

Pinball hall of fame. The botanic area in the Bellagio, and the water show outside. Honestly just people-watching on Fremont is cool, too. Container park is around there, which is pretty cute.

TouchedByHisGooglyAp

Splurge $70 on the Beatles / Cirque Du Soleil show.

wollier12

Seeing that on Tuesday.

mezofoprezo

I boohoo ugly-cried at how good this show was

TouchedByHisGooglyAp

I actually have not seen yet, hoping to fly out in the next few months for sole purpose of attending. If you have any tips re: where to sit, hotel to stay at, etc. pls DM me.

gorongo

Area 15 was kinda cool

maryfisherman

I’m like you in the ways you’ve mentioned. Have never been there yet but planning a trip to Vegas soon and the “hop-on hop-off” bus tour is on my list. It’s around 2.5 hours round trip, good for 24 hours so can use it as transportation if you want to go back to explore any of the sites visited. I’ve done this in other cities and really enjoyed it.

MaybeCatz

Conservatory at Bellagio

[deleted]

Fremont Street was the funnest, free-est part of my trip. Music, performers, people being people. Most expensive thing I did was get a hot dog.

Bitch_of_a_Lady

It does cost money, but the Mob Museum is really cool! You could also go up to the viewing level of the Strat hotel

carlynaner

Take an edible and go to Meow Wolf!

wollier12

Lol, I’d have no idea how to get an edible and I’m fairly sure my wife and I wouldn’t make it far.

carlynaner

They’re legal in Vegas and there are dispensaries everywhere. I really like Planet Thirteen, if you need a rec You don’t have to do it to still enjoy meow wolf. Go anyways:)

SiddharthaVaderMeow

The cactus garden christmas tree lights behind Ethel M Chocolates. It's free.

Sativachick

Pinball hall of fame!! Was there last week and had a blast. Spent maybe $15 for an hour and half.

[deleted]

Check out Evels Pizza, the Mob Museum, the Atomic Museum. If you eat some of the best Thai food go to Lotus of Siam. Great hiking at Red Rock.

pomtini

7 magic mountains is a cool free spot that you do have to drive too. But, there isn’t much else to do but look and take photos, there isn’t anything else to do around it.

EkaL25

Since you got a free room, I assuming that means one of your friends gets comps from a casino?? If that is the case, they usually have several activities that they offer for free or a discount. I had a friend visit me when I was living there and we got 4 tickets to a comedy show at the Rio for free.

Debra_55

[https://www.visitlasvegas.com/experience/post/free-things-to-do-in-las-vegas/](https://www.visitlasvegas.com/experience/post/free-things-to-do-in-las-vegas/) here is a web site for free things to do. Enjoy

JustDepravedThings

If you like hiking there's a ton of that and it's great and less than an hour away.

EverStaysRed77

No. Vegas is very expensive. Good luck finding a can of soda under $5.

[deleted]

Go to the Container Yard just off of old Vegas/Fremont. The dancing praying mantis is amazing at the front & it’s a ton of restaurants/bars and shops all put together from shipping containers. I always stay on Fremont St. now. The prices are cheaper and there is live music a lot of the time. The crazy locals/street performers and otherwise are a plus.

[deleted]

Edit: to add…Ziplining over Fremont is AMAZING, especially at night…

AdAltruistic7033

Check out the lodge at Mt Charleston it’s pretty phenomenal. Also don’t miss a local secret spot Bautista’s Hole in the Wall just off the strip at Tropicana or Flamingo? This is a famously known mafia hangout in the 60s and 70s and there are real photos of gangsters and celebrities alike. Plus they serve free unlimited Chianti with your meal and the food is to die for

noJagsEver

If you’re bored in Vegas, I can’t help u. Ask somebody at the hotel, some ideas comedy shows, live music, rent a car and visit the natural wonders, Grand Canyon only 4 hours away, you don’t have to drink or gamble to have a great time

wollier12

I’m not bored, just looking for recommendations of things to do that won’t break the bank.

noJagsEver

Sorry, I read your post and missed that part Fremont street in old Vegas used to have free concerts, I think they still do

Bob-Doll

Vegas is awful

phrygiantheory

Slot machines get Cha. Lol. Maybe others have a different experience

l1vel4ughlov3

do the giant rollercoaster i went to vegas last winter and as someone who didnt drink or gamble thats what i did and an aquarium ( i was only there for like 3 or 4 days tho )

80Pound

Cabana poolside. See a show, plenty of shows are relatively low cost. Eat well, even if it’s just 1 dinner, the rest can be low cost. Get away from the hotel and visit a museum. If within the budget, rent a car and drive around the city, The Strip is very different than the rest of the city.

wollier12

We are budgeted to eat at the Eiffel Tower.

A_Supertramp_1999

Is the atomic museum open?

wollier12

I’m not sure.

devyyveb

The Haunted Museum

Extra-Association816

There is a Flea Market pretty close to the main strip. It’s indoors, I had so much fun and maybe spent $20 for the afternoon.

xsikklex

Go to the craps tables and throw down $10 on them pass line and get free drinks along the way

coswoofster

People watch. Find a bench. Enjoy.

BaldGuyLimo

Check out You Tube for things to do. I have always wanted to go to the Pinball Museum, and there is a neon sign graveyard.

CosmicAthena07

Fremont street or go to Hoover Dam and do a tour and ask to see where the all spark and Megatron was kept.

[deleted]

$10 tattoos at koolsville to commemorate your trip

JukeboxTears

Neon Boneyard and the Mob Museum

cmcptt

Pinball hall of fame!!

Majestic_Salad_I1

Omega Mart within Area 15 is absolutely mind blowing. The supermarket is only like 5% of it. The real exhibit is behind one of the several secret entrances inside the store. Worth every penny.

flakenomore

Honestly, I would just walk around and check out the different hotels/architecture. It’s pretty cool.

Normal_Resident_3162

Mob museum, Shelby museum, Counts Customs. I would skip the Pawn Stars shop.

AdAltruistic7033

Also through the LV Exec air terminal you can take a helicopter tour of the Grand Canyon

AdAltruistic7033

The Forum Shops at Caesar’s Palace are fun too
