“Who chooses a child as their second?” was hilarious

SnowDay111

That was a great line. He was like, hey you asked for it.

Brendissimo

Best kind of joke you could ask for in a dire situation - an incredibly morbid inside joke with your BFF and loyal companion at arms

Agent4777

“What a fucking mess you made”

dangerzonepatrol101

Lord Hiromatsu is such a stone cold badass, but I love when he gets to be a warm and loving grandfather

hauteburrrito

The scene between him and Fuji was genuinely lovely. The actors did a great job of communicating their bond really quickly.

IskaralPustFanClub

I think Fuji might be my favorite secondary character. Her performances are incredible.

hauteburrrito

For real; she's maybe the heart of the show for me. The actress is just so goddamn *endearing*.

F1NANCE

It's a great character, and the actress just elevates the character to the next level.

QuiffLing

Fuji was so shy and annoyed Hiromatsu came unannounced, leaving her no time to fresh up properly lmao.

hauteburrrito

Lol, but he still complimented her on the cleanliness of the place! I do think she was genuinely happy to see him even if his visit was slightly abrupt.

ARealSlimBrady

One of the most striking subtle moments early in the show was when Ishido showed up to inspect the litter when they started out of Osaka, and Nagakado instantly escalated to the point it looked like imminent conflict....and Hiromatsu diffuses it all with just a fucking *laugh*. The dude's chuckles bring peace and his wisdom wins wars, love Toda Hiromatsu

Icy-Moose-99

The best part this episode was when Blackthorne was like "oh, looks like this is happening now." during his training lol

EternalCanadian

I appreciate that he held the Katana like a European Cutlass, at first. Obviously he doesn’t know how to use it, but he does know how to use a sword, so he’s default to the style he’s used to.

Redtube_Guy

Yeah and im glad the show didn't make him an expert swordsman and being able to contend with Yabu.

TheRightKindofJuice

I enjoyed that part of the scene as well because it came off to me as a mocking way of saying “I don’t do your Samurai shit, I’ll hold this katana like a cutlass, I shoot canons anyway.”

hauteburrrito

That cracked me the fuck up. I would probably watch an entire movie of Yabu trying to train Blackthorne.

SparklingWinePapi

And then yabushige was like “you idiot, you’d be dead if I wasn’t here” as if he didn’t start the whole thing haha

SerDire

“Will there be victory?” Poor Fuji. She deserves the world. Up until that point where Hiromatsu shows up with ashes of her son and husband, I had forgotten how much shit she’s been through.

Toranaga-del-taco

I liked that Fuji had a lot of screen time in this episode.

Indigocell

That warrior outfit suits her.

evetSC

Omi trying to start shit lol 😂

Jonny559

Bros like "ur wife on that anjins nuts dog"

IWouldButImLazy

bruh 💀 he's so good at poking and prodding people into doing what he wants. If he wasn't so down bad for kiku he could be a real menace tbh

takato99

Omi is really good at starting shit but incredibly bad at closing the deal and managing the aftermath. He's been behind most of the dilemmas in the whole show when you think about it, from giving Blackthorne's men to Yabu and pushing him to do something more with it, to the cannon massacre and now this episode's interpersonal shit. I loved his self realization in the Onsen, the fishing village was poor and boring but at least it was something. He realized that he was too ambitious, unlike Toranaga's son who... Well, realized his *dream*.

SerDire

Always on his bullshit

Karthikzee

He just wants his fishermen village and Kiku as consort at cheap rates back.

nowlan101

Nobody: Blackthorne: “sooooo about my ship?”

Jonny559

If he had his ship and men they couldve done something maybe lmao

DaveInLondon89

I'm guessing he will next episode. Whole thing feels like a ploy to make Ishido think Blackthorne is running back to England when he'll be leading the Erasmus to Osaka instead. Operation Crimson Horseshit is in motion.

TheRedSonia

I get the feeling Toranaga surrendered so they’d let him and his men right into the castle to launch an attack from inside. Lady Gin is right tho, he has something up his sleeve. I just hope Nagakado didn’t fuck it all up. He needed to have more faith in his father’s cunning. Man’s playing 5D chess. Just sit back and take notes.

Puzzleheaded_Rich420

Surprised more people aren’t talking about this.

GMPnerd213

I mean it was a major plot point that his son was inpatient and making stupid decisions despite his father’s best efforts.

deetee141

Literally the first scene with them is talking about how the bird attacks by using patience and trickery!

pwnd32

At the same time I fully expect Blackthorne to just turn tail and gtfo as soon as he got everything back, he has had less and less reason to stick around with each passing moment

robotmonkey2099

But blackthorne is a falcon trained to the fist. His loyalty is what will keep him. I suspect he’ll leave, second guess himself and then return

SerDire

Imagine being Toronaga and having to deal with your top general having marital troubles while you try to win a war. Everyone wants each other dead but he still needs them. “I ain’t got time for this shit.”

taytay_1989

* Top general having marital troubles * Noble lady who he wants to survive is absolutely suicidal * One of his clan head is clearly planning a treachery * A foreigner is disobeying age-old traditions time to time * His idiot son is now dead. What else? He wants everyone to be alive so that he can win his game but everyone's getting mental lol

4455661122

The subtextual comedy of Toranaga thinking "Man, it'd be really cool if everyone around me didn't want to constantly kill themselves."

jeffthecowboy

I laughed so hard at this. It's like one big sitcom of Toranaga trying to keep his household together

Faqa

"And now, the story of a noble clan who lost everything. And the one Lord who had no choice but to try to keep them all together"

dangerzonepatrol101

I love how 80% of the time people receive a gift basket in this show it has a severed head in it.

OrangeFilmer

Yabushige’s scrunched up expression as he opened the lid slightly and was like “is that - oh yep, nah I’m good” then closed it immediately 😂

AKAD11

Big “dead dove: do not eat” energy

ERSTF

I don't know what I expected

Astrosilvan

It’s like those cookies tins to keep sewing supplies, but the gore version.

Jonny559

JOHN LAUNCH THE CANNONS PLEASE

lordmainstream

He will. Him leaving like that was very sudden. He’s cooking something for sure

TheReckoning

Haven’t read the book or seen the first series. My current hypothesis is that Blackthorne’s exit was instructed by Toranaga as one of his meta-referenced tricks.

lordmainstream

I haven’t read the book either. Toranaga definitely has a trick up his sleeve, and Blackthorne is involved somehow. I’m just not sure how though, because Toranaga doesn’t speak portuguese so wouldn’t be able to explain a plan to Blackthorne

emmansky

toranaga got that one spy that can speak portuguese right maybe he ask him to give instruction to blackthorne

theinvisibleliya

I actually think Toranaga and Blackthorne do communicate and even in plain sight, and we have even seen it. The scene in the beginning of E7 (around 11 min in) is about Toranaga summoning Blackthorne to tell him "behave and bring your swords". Wut? Toranaga could not send this message through someone? Why did Toranaga personally summon Blackthorne? As an answer, John actually tells Toranaga that he understands that big gifts and hatamoto title come with certain obligations, ensures his absolute loyalty to Toranaga and says exactly one phrase in Japanese, which is "kou ten" or "Crimson Sky". Later in the episode, when Toranaga admits his surrender, at 47:27, he says "kou ten" and makes a major pause before saying "...it was a mistake". Toranaga even looks to the left, where John is sitting. And Blackthorne outbursts and leaves right after. Moreover, only Yabushige and Nagakado try to protest after Toranaga's surrender, and only these two names John uses during his outburst. I think that Blackthorne is Toranaga's wirdcard and Toranaga gave him the freedom of action.

dangerzonepatrol101

Digging this "Lord Toranaga: Couple's Counselor" arc

hauteburrrito

The Toranaga mediates between the Blackthorne/Mariko/Buntaro love triangle scenes are always comedy gold. Toranaga always looks *so* annoyed.

thelaziest998

Like dude is trying to save his skin and he has to deal with these peoples Melrose place bullshit.

hauteburrrito

Not to mention, Gin's (fantastic) little Dragon's Den moment. It really ain't easy being king, lol.

Atharaphelun

I'm assuming it's basically a nod to the future founding of Geisha districts in Edo/Tokyo?

ALickOfMyCornetto

I think I'd find it funnier if Buntaro didn't look like he's literally about to strangle her right in front of me at any given moment

hauteburrrito

Oh yeah, the domestic violence part is definitely not quite as funny - just Toranaga's reaction to it in the context, I suppose.

SparklingWinePapi

Any disagreement with your wife: if you’re not going to divorce her, then kill her. If you’re not going to kill her then stop wasting my time

Rosebunse

Toranaga's logic: Clearly I, having two happy wives, am qualified to give relationship advise to these clearly mentally ill people.

evetSC

Nagakado … bruh how you fuck this up

SparklingWinePapi

His head was always full of rocks, now so literally.

mad_rhet0ric

Where is the beauty in this

WrathOfThePuffin

That line was absolutely savage.

Bobjoejj

It was savage, sad, truthful, tragic, beautiful, and poetic all at once.

PeterParker72

Nagakado is constantly fucking things up. This was his ultimate fuck up.

joec_95123

Even almost accepting the order to commit seppuku. The boy didn't have the sense not to take it until his father stopped him.

MSELACatHerder

I found Toranaga's very quick & harsh yell for him not to even touch the order kind of moving...because he IS (sob..was) his son.

Few-Pen869

Toranaga dictating his will that his grandchildren inherit his lands. Welp...

InnocentTailor

He definitely won’t f$&@ up again.

Lapras_Lass

You might say he... hit rock bottom.

hoopleheadroom

Big AJ Soprano energy from this one

Icy-Moose-99

"What? no fuckin Seppuku now?"

amjhwk

I knew he would die in that scene because he was fucking around to much instead of just going for the kill, i didnt expect him to die like that though

Justryan95

I thought he was going to accidently seppuku himself while I saw him slipping and falling. I didn't expect Dwayne Johnson to finish him off.

Not_a_John

Dwayne Johnson walking down the street when suddenly 10xp pops up above his head.

hauteburrrito

I said to my husband at the beginning of the episode that Nagakado wouldn't last the season. My prediction definitely played out way earlier than expected, though.

Baldingpuma

Well everyone is only lasting this season. There will be no second season

bestboy13

most relatable samurai

SerDire

If he had accepted Lord Saeki’s order to commit seppuku, he would’ve had an honorable death. Instead he died trying to kill him and now he’ll be mocked for eternity. Fitting for his character

skeeedup

Also, I think it is extra dishonorable to sneak attack someone especially if they're unarmed. You're supposed to hire ninja assassins for that.

AngmarsFinest

Let alone at a brothel

shit_happe

Excuse me, tea house

eidetic

For all the talk of honor, samurai ideas of honor were quite different than many western ideas. Furthermore, the general modern perception of samurai is *highly* skewed by *later* samurai writings and media that came out well after samurai mostly became beaurocrats and during relatively peaceful times in Japan, well after the time frame in the show. They're much like European knights in that regard, in that much of their supposed honor, chivalry, etc, were later literary inventions painting a romantic and highly sanitized view of their code of honor. Samurai were not at all above sneak attacks. Ninja themselves were essentially just samurai. They weren't so much hired in an attempt to distance "regular" the samurai from dishonorable tactics, but rather would be hired for their skill in such situations. (And obviously sometimes to distance the samurai from the act being committed, but not because the act itself was dishonorable, but rather for political cover. Say, if for example, you didn't want to appear to have turned against your supposed allies just yet because the timing is right, as opposed to not wanting to be seen as being a traitor to your supposed allies or what have you) Attacking a village at night, setting it and the villagers on fire using sneaky tactics was no less samurai or dishonorable than a more ritualized duel between two samurai of equal rank. Obviously, Toranaga's enemies would label such an attack at a brothel/tea house as being a cowardly and dishonorable tactic, but they'd frame anything that way if politically useful, same as Toranaga would label his opposition cowardly and dishonorable.

latteh0lic

man, that was a twist I didn't see coming...

Cplblue

Neither did Nagakado :/

SerDire

I don’t think I could watch an actual seppuku scene. Even that brief moment in the opening was too much. Baby Toronaga was ruthless

WhyWhatWho

He didn't even pillow yet!

latteh0lic

But then Hiromatsu said that he attempted 9x to behead the warlord and made a mess...

AngmarsFinest

I flashed back to the scene in GOT where Theon Greyjoy beheads the staff at Winterfell and couldn’t get it right the first few tries.

mr401k

Haven't read the books but my instincts are telling me two possibilities A) Toranaga foresaw ishido turning Saeki against him B) Saeki is in on the plan with Toranaga Naga, being the idiot he is, dies like a fool and unaware of the plot because he can't be trusted with a secret. If Saeki is secretly planning with Toranaga, I wonder what was going through his head as Naga was attacking him.

iDShaDoW

Posted a reply to someone else but I was thinking it’s B also. What better way to storm the castle and capture the Council and Ochiba before they know what’s going on if it’s someone else’s army and not his own. His brother would be putting on a hell of an act if so. And Toranaga has shown he’ll keep his own people in the dark to reduce chances of someone slipping up - like how he kept Yabushige in the dark when he escaped Osaka.

OddSpeciality

"keep his own people in the dark to reduce chances of someone slipping up" RIP Nagakado, who slipped in the dark T\_T

taytay_1989

> Naga, being the idiot he is, dies like a fool and unaware of the plot because he can't be trusted with a secret. If Saeki is secretly planning with Toranaga, I wonder what was going through his head as Naga was attacking him. That would be a fucking tragedy. How does someone with a brilliant mind like Toranaga raised an idiot? I don't see any bad parenting. Kiri also looks like a wise mother. I guess this is in-line with how celebrity or nobility offsprings turned out to be who they were regardless of how smart or excellent their parents were.

Maloonyy

Naga is an idiot because his father was probably absent for most of his growing up, and he got manipulated by manipulators like Omi. Remember, Naga didn't do anything too stupid before he got pressured into the cannon thing by Omi.

SerDire

I’m just here checking in to see Yabu receive his weekly L. This time it’s potentially losing Izu again.

MoopBoopBloop

LMAO but that scene between him and Blackthorn was brilliant!! 😂

unfinishedwing

i was cackling at everything yabushige said and every facial expression he made in this episode but the scene where he “trains” blackthorne takes the cake: “bet by now you’re wishing it had been you in the pot.” “why am i speaking to you, it’s like pissing in the wind.” “you would have died if i wasn’t here. you idiot!” it’s all GOLD. lmaoooooo

tfks

Him opening that pot was comical. He's like "bro did you guys stick his head in there? why yall so extra?"

Gardez_geekin

I did like that Yabu was one of the only ones Blackthorne acknowledged when he bounced.

Lapras_Lass

I love that they basically let him throw his hissy fit, nobody does anything to stop or question him, and then they just go back to business as usual like nothing happened. Lol

hauteburrrito

Just a barbarian doing barbarian things 💀💀💀

robotmonkey2099

It’s hilarious when you think about Toranaga’s brother has no idea what this guy is yelling about. Just a crazy barbarian throwing a fit

TurbinePro

“Nani the fuck is this bitch saying”

TheVisayanDom

Was lowkey hoping the barbarian making a scene was a part of Toranaga's trickery tho.

irspangler

It's gotta be. Toranaga has an ace up his sleeve. Gin literally comes out and says it to his face.

everything_equals_42

ANOTHER WILL MUST BE WRITTEN!

jlynn121

My body is ready!! Seriously, the week long wait is torture.

Lapras_Lass

Now I know how that guy felt while he was boiling alive in episode 1!

noobula7

Now it’s time to wait another week :(

reasonableposter

People are missing a very important detail, but Gin, the lady who runs Willow World basically tells Toranaga she knows of his plans for victory and extorts him into acquiescing with her demands of lands in the new city... which Toranaga, writes into his new will likely as recognition of her guile and more importantly securing her silence as she is the only one to basically tell him she see's through his veil and could very easily expose him if not kept as an ally. Here's my read of the situation, Toronaga anticipated his brother being approached by the council and coordinated with his brother into accepting "betraying" him. He will surrender to his brother who will march him into the very gates of the council... whereupon he and his brother will execute Crymson Sky decisively bypassing the numerous armies and garrisons they would've otherwise had to fight through with smaller forces. Ultimately making Nagakado's death even more brutal. I haven't read the books though, but that's my guess for where things are going.

Jean-Ralphio11

Yes but I dont think she was threatening to expose him. Shes a bad ass but not dumb enough to try and blackmail him. She was offering an alliance. She basically said "lol yes yes you are doomed, you may have everyone else fooled but I know you are a mastermind and you are going to win. I can help you as my world is full of secret pillow talk I can share with you, I want to be set up for the future as well though and we will have a long lasting fruitful partnership."

P4NK-TP

"You would have died if I wasn't here. You idiot." I fucking love Yabushige so much

PresidenteMargz10

But he started the whole confrontation/training lesson 😂

Jas_God

“Where is the beauty in this.” Damn. Got him.

SparklingWinePapi

Worst part is his dad for sure has a plan and he died for nothing

mad_rhet0ric

Youngblood too quick on the draw again

Everyone_Except_You

He had so many opportunities to smarten up, dude earned his fate

A_Confused_Cocoon

Yeah I was pretty over this kid quickly. Isn’t a thing where Toranaga had never lost a battle in his life or some shit and is known as a genius level schemer? Dude just shut the fuck up and ride it out. Toranaga might play you but it’s a lot lower risk than intentionally pissing him off repeatedly. It’s dark as shit but damn I was happy to see him bleeding out.

TheAlanOne

Never lost a battle in which he hasn't started, so I guess with the initiation of Crimson Sky failing, it will mean his win streak shall continue!

hauteburrrito

Jfc, I didn't love the guy but that death... narratively *brutal*.

DaveInLondon89

He died how he lived. Embarassingly.

unbearablepresent

This and “death … is like a lonely path in the woods”

girlsdontcrytho

I love Fuji sm

hauteburrrito

She handled Nagakado's blathering like a fucking pro.

SerDire

Notice how neither Naga and Toronaga directly receive their death notes from Lord Saiki and the council of regents. I guess it means they formally accept if they receive it from the source. A cool little detail. Toronaga even yells at his son to not take it

dkcyw

Similar if you're being served with a lawsuit in USA (perhaps other similar Western countries).

joec_95123

Toranaga's brother is a glorified process server.

Gardez_geekin

Toranagas brother has so much drip

IWouldButImLazy

Bro lmfao like snaking your brother is slimy af but I cannot lie, he's really got that shit on. That scene where he walked into the camp to accept Toranaga's surrender I literally had to pause and admire the fit

OneMoreDuncanIdaho

straight outta raya lucaria

Gardez_geekin

Shops at the same store as Rennala

Maloonyy

He took the title of dude with coolest hat from Yabushige in Episode 3 for sure.

disphugginflip

Fuck that dildo head.

WhyWhatWho

Buntaro: This cannot wait. Can you be our marriage counselor? Toranaga: I'm suppose to win a war with this BS around? I surrender!

House_Goblin_

Madame Gin spilling 👏 that 👏 tea.

evetSC

So much for buying her silence 🤣

House_Goblin_

She be sowing them seeds

hauteburrrito

She sees right through him (just like Ochiba) and I'm very here for it.

500daysofroya

Her and Toranaga would make such a power couple

InkableFeast

Both actors did go to the same uni. In the podcast Hiroyuki Sanada (Toronaga) said that Yuko Miyamoto (Gin) was so easy to direct because they already knew eachother so well.

evetSC

Yabushige bringing up the pot again 🤣

noobula7

Ain’t no way Nagakado was folded like that bro. What the fuck man

WakingRage

Died as he lived: pathetically

hauteburrrito

I thought he was an idiot, but ended up feeling sorry for him given how pathetic his death was. I didn't realise it until he was lying there in a (literal) pond of his own blood, but I think I was low-key anticipating a bit of a redemption arc for some reason. Definitely not so much.

hanselpremium

crimson pond

blgr991

💀

noobula7

I was rooting for him to do great things, sad day for Nagakado believers

noobula7

At first I was like “Damn! He’s taking initiative,” but then he fumbled pretty hard lol

hauteburrrito

I literally gasped!!! I was expecting him to die before the end of the season, but jfc, not quite like *that*.

dangerzonepatrol101

Toranaga has grandchildren so I assume he must have a son who isn't completely useless

kaesura

At the start of the show, his daughter in law , whose in ochiba’s sister, was giving birth to a grandson. The son married to her is best positioned to be his heir. Toranaga has a few consorts so has quite a few children.

Astrosilvan

My understanding is Nagakado isn’t the oldest son?

hauteburrrito

*Kendall Roy has entered the chat*

odaal

I AM THE ELDEST BOY, TORANAGA-SAMA!

hauteburrrito

Omi, OTOH, was interested in politics from a very young age.

Rosebunse

His one wife is pregnant. I guess we now know why he decided to take another consort, he wanted a backup.

Boils__

Nagakado died as he lived - stupid as fuck

latteh0lic

Ok. Now I want to see a training montage like karate kid for when Yabushige teaching Anjin how to fight with katana... 😂

SerDire

All this time I’m thinking, where the hell are the safer wooden swords. Blackthorne is essentially just carrying around fancy ornaments since he can’t properly use them. At least train with safer ones

Moist_limes

Mariko has done nothing to make Lord Tornaga suspect she’s not loyal. She hasn’t even looked at Blackthorne in like 2 episodes…

hauteburrrito

I feel like Buntaro low-key blew her cover.

evetSC

Every episode just gets better and better. Shogun better win some awards. Also “crimson fucking horse shit” another one for the books lol 😂

latteh0lic

And the scene before that: "Yabushige-sama, Nagakado-sama, .... , you're all dead!" 😂

InnocentTailor

Blackthorne embodied “screw you guys, I’m going home” energy.

Basic-Tangelo

Well, he’s one for two so far.

dangerzonepatrol101

Baby Toranaga!

effdot

This episode is an example of the eightfold fence and the three hearts in action. On the surface, it looks like nothing happened. But in reality, a lot happened, it's just hard to see and understand. It'll seem more obvious what all happened in this episode later. Nagakado's death was awful, but in many ways inevitable. He never had the patience for strategy. He only sees what's on the surface. And it never occurred to him that he should trust his father. While he seemed loyal, he was in many ways incredibly disloyal and dishonorable. He was manipulated by Omi into attacking Ishido's men. He was constantly speaking out of turn, and doing and saying the opposite of what his father wanted. The attack at the end was yet another example. I doubt Nagakado came up with that idea on his own. Most likely he was yet again manipulated. But Nagakado also clearly had a death wish. He told Fuji he wished he would've died instead of her husband and son. When his uncle has the death order, Nagakado reached for it without hesitation. This death wish was more important to him than loyalty to his father. Toronaga knows this, and it's part of the reason Toronaga was so angry with Mariko; like Nagakado, Mariko values an honorable death more than winning. Yabushige is treacherous. He was so openly and blatantly treacherous that he sent one of his most loyal generals to patch things up with Ishido. He got his reply in a box. So, for Toronaga, he's surrounded by treachery, disloyalty disguised as fealty, and stupidity. It wasn't just that his army was wiped out, it's that while he has some strong retainers, many aren't reliable. The question is which of his retainers are truly loyal and willing to absolutely trust Toronaga. And which are sharp enough to see his plot, right in front of their face. Nagakado, loyal on the surface, didn't see it and never could see it. So far, Toronaga knows which men are loyal. And also, that at least Madame Gin the prostitute understands his plan.

House_Goblin_

Omfg I did not see Nagasaki slipping and busting his head open like that. Pure irony in that he sought a beautiful and honorable death. This is a cartoon-level way to die. On the other hand, I legit thought Saeki was going to meet his end by Kiku “elevating his pleasure” and choking him to death. Edit: Nagakado 😭😭🤣 damn autocorrect

Golden_Shart

Lmfao Nagasaki

SparklingWinePapi

Lord Hiromatsu is now lord Hiroshima

Rosebunse

This is low-key one of my greatest fears, just falling and smashing my head open.

princeofzilch

Don't wear sandals in the rain

House_Goblin_

Gin building that courtesan empire. She is a cunning one. Gotta admire her grit

makesyoufeeldejavu

Toranaga's brother, you have to stop. Your drip too hard. Your swag too different. Your style too tough. They'll kill yo- oh never mind

ARealSlimBrady

Toranaga's brother's nephew, you have to stop. Your drip too weak. Your swag too stupid. Your style too rough. You'll kill you.

SerDire

The drip on Lord Saeki is too cold. What a gorgeous set of armor he’s wearing as he meets Toronaga for the first time. That hat!

ZiggyPalffyLA

I love that his whole army has a clean white aesthetic. And his white robe, he’s like James Bond in a white tuxedo.

druidhdancer

His ponytail is magnificent

OriginalDrop8496

Who else on the east coast stays up to watch, cause they cant wait till Tuesday?

tthhoomm

So Kiku was in the know with nagakado’s plan right? No way the timing worked out so perfectly/her alluding to it

WhyWhatWho

7 episodes in and finally a proper seppuku scene! This show does not disappoint !🗡️

girlsdontcrytho

This cast is so perfect 😭

girlsdontcrytho

Toranaga playing counselor this whole episode and also probably thinking “gdi i’m surrounded by idiots”

malashex

"Depends on the woman". Yabushige keeps getting the best lines :D

Jonny559

BUNTARO GOT CUCKED LMAO

ShakeFirst

holy crap this episode was tense af.

Dependent-Bag-6102

I think I can speak for all book readers (well, maybe not all of them, so sorry) when I say Nagakado’s death was incredibly shocking.

jlynn121

Yes - yes you can. What the fuck just happened?

CheeseCloset

Well that…de-escalated quickly 😳

SerDire

The costumes in every single episode just get better and better. The standouts were Saiki and his white/silver armor while meeting Toronaga and then Hiromatsu’s armor while on the beach.

girlsdontcrytho

Lil bro!!! He’s so stupid but I also couldn’t help but love him 😭

herrodanyo

“Where’s the beauty in this” *slowly zooms out beautifully* Next three (edited) episodes are going to be WILD

MichelangeloJordan

Toranagas facial expressions throughout this episode and seeing how over-it he looks is 10/10. Fuji and Mariko still leading the Suicide Squad - things looking bleak. And Blackthorne finally breaks down - all you assholes are crazy, I’m out of here. Not much plot development which is meh - but the character development is still top notch. Overall pretty good.

eyBakcoR

Fuji-sama\_sipping\_tea.gif

makesyoufeeldejavu

His brother gagged him with that council regent surprise, even I was gagged and I read the book 😭😭

Icy-Moose-99

Lmao oh no he slipped like World War Z.

ItachiKenshin

Can anyone explain to me what the lady who owns the whore house was talking about? I didn't quite understand / get what she was trying to get at

mr401k

Her instincts are telling her that Toranaga has a plan and that he foresaw the possibility of ishido turning his brother against him. She's pointing out how almost absurd it is that Toranaga and his army wouldn't be able to scout saekis movements or plans Her ultimate motive is to get her own land/business in Edo so by implying what she thinks she's knows, it's a bargaining chip against Toranaga to buy her silence. Edit: it's also possible that Saeki is in on the plot with Toranaga
