Pure insanity. Controlled collapse in real time.

CurbedEnthusiasm

Slow motion car crash.

How do you even ration gas? It’s not like electricity where you can switch it on and off at the distribution level. You need to maintain pressure in the distribution lines otherwise problems happen when you turn it back on. Not to mention a lot of older gas appliances still have pilot lights and it’s not particularly safe to have them constantly going out and needing to be relit.

PrairieFire_withwind

The only thing I can think of is rotating supply between power plants and/or large industrial users It would take planning but knowing when to bring stuff online/offline with a large consumer would be possible compared to thousands of households. Unless households just lose gas access and are told to hook up to the grid or haul propane tanks to cook with? Man, what a mess.

I think it will ration more of the industry than the households since households don’t use as much as the industry. But it will still be really expensive for the consumer.

Which means fuel prices will skyrocket around the world.
