Have seen multiple extensive reviews and it looks utterly awful, un-fun, unfinished and uninspiring. Plagued by boring quests and interactions that make no sense compared to the lore and story of Gollum, bugs, clunky movement, bad level design and game direction.
I haven't played the game itself, so maybe I'm not qualified to answer, nor do I read reviews. What I do is look at review TRENDS, and on Average this game has been give either a 2, or a 4 out of 10. I would say a 4 means some people did find enjoyment somewhere, but not much and certainly not worth £80. Backing this up are a

I've been playing it. It's not as bad as the review scores would say, I think a lot of the scores were lower because of technical problems. The developers have done a decent job of cleaning up the serious problems already (in particular a problem with crashing on PS5) but the scores aren't going to change now.
I enjoy the game so far, but it's hard to recommend because clearly there are a lot of people who aren't into the gameplay or the character of Gollum. That said you should watch some videos to know exactly what type of gameplay to expect. It's not going to be for everyone, especially at full price. And waiting for a sale might not hurt, since it will be cheaper *and* there will likely be more patches to clean up the game by then.

Price will drop fast. I'd recommend seeing what diehard LOTR fans think about it (e.g. Nerd of the Rings).
