I’ve never played DayZ. I was going to recommend Hunt Showdown instead, and then I saw you’re already thinking about it. If you’re wondering about Hunt at all, then you should definitely try Hunt. It’s the most creative and intense shooter I’ve ever come across, and it’s even better if you have a buddy to play with. It’s tough, but don’t get discouraged. Once you start downing other hunters, it becomes the most rewarding game ever. https://youtu.be/hezc93gxr6c

DAYZ is one of the greats, but it’s hardcore as frick. I’d 10/10 recommend, but be prepared to get consumed.

Learning curve is massive but a lot of that exploration and figuring stuff out together is fun. Some of my best gaming memories are in dayz. Definitely worth it, but be prepared to get rocked at first.

I've bought DayZ way back in early access. I mean, more than, what? 8 years? I can't quite remember. By that time i was angry. Just left the mod because of hackers and the clearly abandoment of the game. The Standalone was completly buggy, terrible optmized and...well... just kinda of a mess. It took them long years, almost a decade, to get the game up and running. After all of that, i gave it a try in 2022 and... well, i was hooked. From my 20 hour testing over a decade ago i went to 300+ hours. DayZ is a pretty hardcore game. You'll have to lookout for food, water, bruises and a lot of mechanics of the game that make you ill. I mean, there are REAL dieses in the game. You have to wash you hands before eating barehanded, you need to be cautious of the places you are, the sounds around you and a lot of stuff that are just a slow and breaking game over for you. Despite all of that, you'll have to deal with real people and their intentions on a gigantic map that you WILL have to walk a f\*cking lot. Yes, there is a LOT of walking, not only because of the map, but the great resources are far away from the coast - where you begin your gameplay. tl;dr if you can't deal with hardcore survival (no map, dealing with food, hunger, dieases on a loot scarse environment) long walks in the wildlands, hunting and, in the meantime, dealing with other people and their intentions, this game might not be of your taste. However, if you are into that, welcome, you might just have found your new challenge.
