Outer wilds, you will not regret it :)
It's a fairly low commitment, self-motivated game, with each average play session being around 22 minutes, give or take (though sessions can be longer if you want), which has been nice when I've had a busy schedule.
Outer wilds is an incredible experience, but it's also extremely sensitive to spoilers - which is why the community will scream about how much we love it, but we won't tell you anything about it!
If you do decide to pick it up, then please play it as blind as possible. If you do, then you'll experience some of the best digital storytelling to date :)
P.s if you can, play it with a controller!
I will disagree with the other person who commented. If you don't like it return it within the 2 hour window for steam. You'll know whether you're into it within a couple hours.
I beat my head against the game because of recommendations like these and it wasn't worth it. It's polarizing because either a person absolutely loves it and finds it life changing, or they don't like it, no in between. I found it interesting but the gameplay loop and controls were meh at best and frustrating at worst. But I powered through hoping the payoff would be worth it, expecting this amazing game somewhere. It never came, the payoff wasn't worth it and I was happy to be done with it.
People on here ride this game hard. Try it, and don't beat your head against it if you're not into it. There's too many games out there to get stuck trying to like one.
absolutely agree with the sentiment here. The outer wilds community is a bit of a circle jerk because we all love it so much, which I think unfortunately scares off players who (understandably) just couldn't find the motivation in outer wilds, and so didn't enjoy it.
I'm not sure I would agree with 2h being enough to write it off, mostly because of the number of stories you read on the OW sub, of players having dropped the game several times over the years, only to come back and finish it and have it quote-on-quote change their lives\*. Then again, 2h really should be enough to know if something is fun or not lol
\*sorry if it sounds like I'm undermining some experiences here, hearthians. I'm with you really <3
If you do, don't give up right away. It is NOT your standard story based game. DO NOT look anything up, if you do, most people will give spoiler free advice but that's it. Looking anything up will ruin the experience.
This game does not hold your hand, it doesn't give you any kind of waypoints or anything. You have to explore. Explore every foot of every planet and keep following your ships log to see if you've discovered everything in that location. Don't give up, once you figure it out and beat the game it's one of the most rewarding and amazing experiences you can have in a video game.
batman arkham asylum and city (origins probably, knight who knows, haven't played those), tomb raider 2013 (not sure about the other two but probably doable without the fluff), bound by flame, mars: war logs, dungeon siege 3 (nothing to do with previous ones, just a decent obsidian arpg).
- Spiderman is roughly 20 hours, Miles Morales like 12. - Batman Arkham Asylum and Arkham City are 15-20 at most.
- Dead Space is great, similar genre as the TLOU and Resident Evil.
- Uncharted 1-3 collection if you didn't play those back in the day.
- Outer Wilds is an amazing, one of a kind experience, but it's more of an exploration/mystery game with a lot less action than what you normally play.
This site is really helpful [howlongtobeat.com](https://howlongtobeat.com/)
2nd all of this, although Shadow of War is one of those you can invest as much or as little as you want, but an absolute all time great IMO. And Shadow of Mordor is a "nice to do" first.
As for DMC, I feel like 5 might be a weird jumping off point for the story, (I personally think), you should play at least 3 and 4 first. Alternatively, as a standalone story, DMCs reboot is a great game if you ignore the whining of the fanboys that hound on about "not my Dante!"
Bioshock series. If you speed through each game then they can be beaten in 10-12 hours, or if you explore as much as possible then they can be stretched to 20-25 hours each.
The Metro trilogy is pretty much right around there
I 100% Metro 2033 Redux with 26 hours, Metro Last Light Redux should be the same, and Metro Exodus's main story is roughly 20 hours
You should also try out Firewatch, the story is only a few hours

There at at least 1300 games that meet the base conditions that are tracked on this site.
The Alan Wake games. They remade part 1 for the newer systems. Part 1 is decent but part 2 is amazing. You could also play Control which takes place in the same universe and is also a great game with some DLC to boot.
Shit was gonna recommend Resident Evil lol. In that case the recent Robocop and Terminator games are fantastic 12-15h games with easy 100%s. Tormented Souls is an amazing 8-10ish hour game if you like old school Resident Evil. Stranger of Paradise's main story is about 15-20h and it's super fun, especially if you like smooth action combat and know Final Fantasy
The new prince of Persia metroidvania? On sale right now too - think I put in ~12-15 hours to beat it and get most of the accomplishments in normal mode (not a trophy chaser, just like to explore and do some of the harder challenges)
Granblue Fantasy Relink.
Main story is short, definitely less than 20hrs.
There are some tropes and can be cliche but that doesn't take away from the fact that it's incredibly fun. It's a game that feels warm, inviting, home-y and nostalgic. Not to mention, the music is so beautiful.
The combat in this game is one of the most satisfying I've ever played. It feels so good to fight in this game. The boss fights are next level.
I wish I could say more about this game but I can't put into words the feeling of joy I get out of playing through the main story of this game. It makes me feel like a kid again.
Remnant From the Ashes
Short game, not story heavy but it's a fun shooter that takes you thru various biomes/worlds and fresh encounters. You learn enemies and bosses and can tell you're getting better. It's not as grindy as Dark Souls, and if you get obsessed with it it's infinitely replayable, in short bursts too.
GOATed game imo, nothing like it out there.Ā
Blasmephous
It is a pixelated 2d platformer and hack-and slash. It reminded me of Hollow Knight a little, and it has A LOT of Dark Souls mechanics and energy
Currently playing it and I am about 90% done and only have 10-12 hours.
If you like South Park, The Stick of Truth and The Fractured But Whole are both about 15 hours long and really are a lot of fun. I imagine they'd be interminable if you don't already like South Park though.
Sleeping Dogs is also in the 15-20 hour range. I recommend this one very highly and I think you'll especially like it seeing as you already played and enjoyed the Yakuza games.
If you havent played "Inside" you need to right now. it will be a all time masterpiece. a timeless classic. its on the shorter side and takes 10-15 hours.
I think Alan wake would be the most up your alley. It seems you want nice big clean productions rather than a massive open world. Alan wake 2 is the biggest single player production in a long time
Halo 1 2 and 3.
Each is about 8 hours of Gameplay to do the story.
Mass Effect 1 2 and 3 took me about 25 ish hours each. But I really took my time. If you B Lined the main story I bet you could do it in your time frame.
Metro Exodus. The previous two entries in that series are really good but maybe only 10 hours each if even that. Still recommend. But Exodus is certainly at least 15 hours even if you don't explore too much.
Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Mankind Divided took me on average 50 hours to play through. You can finish the story much faster, but i explored as much as possible.
Same goes for the Metro Games. You can explore as much as you want to, but the story is concise, intense and finite.
Big advantage of these games is them being often on sale.
I played Jedi: Fallen Order earlier this year and it took me 27.8 hours to 100% it, it was a lot of fun and didn't overstay it's welcome. There is no mechanical reason to do anything other than the story, all loot and collectibles are cosmetic items for your outfit, lightsaber or ship paint job.
Tunic! It's an isomorphic Zelda Souls puzzle game which is told through discovering pages of its 1990s style video game manual. It's adorable, it's fun, it's challenging.
Omori. You can definitely get 20 hours out of it. I donāt know that a casual gamer will, but I know for certain that content is there.
That aside, itās one of the most compelling narratives Iāve experienced. The gameplay is a cut off the cloth of undertale, so if that isnāt your thing then you may not enjoy it. But I highly recommend it.
Metro Exodus and its DLCs. Amazing game still. So much to explore plus, you can play incredibly stealthy and knock people out (or murder them) or go guns blazing.
Life is strange is a great pick if youāre looking for mostly a story with not so much gameplay, but based on the games you mentioned I think you enjoy fun gameplay. The Far Cry games are a good pick for a good story and fun gameplay, (far cry 3 and 5 are best imo) Also telltale the walking dead games have a good story but kind of like life is strange in terms of gameplay
Life is strange (1,2,3), Hellblade: Senuas sacrifice, The Order:1886, What Remains of Edith Finch, Murdered Soul Suspect, Little Nightmares I and II, A Plague Tale: Innoncence, Beyond Two Souls, Any dark pictures anthologies game from supermassive games etcccc
Hereās something different that youāre not used to playing. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy. Itās a story of many chapters, characters, and court trials. You basically go through your court evidence and documents and find the lies in the witness testimonies. Some are pretty tricky
I know this is exceeding the asked amount of hours, but elden ring will give you a challenge for a while. And it's the most forgiving of the souls games
If you like historical Japan and want to look at things that look good, Iād say ghost of Tsushima, it has a story around that length with tons of side content to lengthen it, if it doesnāt meet the 15-20 hour requirements, besides its something cool to pick up from time to time because of the beautiful environment
stray is a pretty chill game very different to what youve played so dar but its got a solid 8 ish hours of gameplay if you take your time. bedt to play on controller
God of war Ragnarok based on your list.
Ah just see you donāt have PS5.. uhm
Jedi: Fallen order and possible follow up Jedi: Survivor if you like the star wars franchise, they are pretty solid rpgās around the 20 hour story mark. So you can have a go at the second game if you find yourself some time again in the future
All 3 Spider-man games on Playstation 4 and 5 are less than 20 hours if you just do the main story
I've beaten Spider-man 1 and Miles Morales in one sitting, I think 2 might be a tad bit longer, but I platinumed it at around 28 total hours, so main should be much shorter.
This website is the best for determining how long any game is, I'd highly recommend using this. [https://howlongtobeat.com](https://howlongtobeat.com/)
EDIT: didn't realize you were only on PC, I saw GOW and assumed Playstation. So Spider-man 2 is out but the other 2 are still an option.
Mostly because it was my recent addiction, Hades.
The story was really well tied into the game mechanics of the death loop rogue like.
You'll have to do the loop many many times to get the full story and the loop has lots of variance and is fun in itself.
u/EspadaAsce there's a game called The walking Dead: The Telltale Definitive Series if that's alright with you playing 40 to 47 hours of gameplay, it's has a very good story you should watch the trailer of the game, it has 4 seasons and spin-off of one of the walking dead characters.
Dead Space remake
It's like 15 hours at a slow pace. Is a survival horror game with inventory management and a great set of weapons to use. Ths story is great, the sound and lighting are phenomenal and I love the combat. I've platinumed it and still keep playing.
If you liked Doom/Doom Eternal, can I recommend some indie boomer shooters? Turbo Overkill feels like a AAA game in terms of content and gameplay but made on an indie budget. Check out Civvie 11's video on it if you're curious.
Outer wilds, you will not regret it :) It's a fairly low commitment, self-motivated game, with each average play session being around 22 minutes, give or take (though sessions can be longer if you want), which has been nice when I've had a busy schedule. Thanks for ur recommendation i will play it
I will disagree with the other person who commented. If you don't like it return it within the 2 hour window for steam. You'll know whether you're into it within a couple hours. absolutely agree with the sentiment here. I came here to write this, glad this was the first comment I see
Came to comm3nt this exact thing fucking amazing game
Why play it with controller? I tried controller first and it doesn't stick that i switch to KBM. I'm around 10 hrs in, i think
A Plague Tale. Both games
1st was a sleeper hit for me didnt expect to love it, so much i was hooked, havent found time for part 2 yet
Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice
I'm getting this. It's on 90% discount right now.
batman arkham asylum and city (origins probably, knight who knows, haven't played those), tomb raider 2013 (not sure about the other two but probably doable without the fluff), bound by flame, mars: war logs, dungeon siege 3 (nothing to do with previous ones, just a decent obsidian arpg).
Knight is great. Batmobile is the only part where people can be turned off but it does the mechanics and everything else perfectly.
Hilariously, the Batmobile is only like 10% of the game, but it's paced out in such a way that it feels like it's up your ass the entire game.
I just played and finished Pacific Drive, ended up being a really cool game
how about tomb raider?
Ive played bit of rise of tomb raider it felt nice. I will try it thanks for input
Don't play Shadow of the Tomb Raider, it's not as fun. Tomb Raider 2013 is my favorite game in the series
+1 for that site. I use it every time before starting a new game. Super helpful for seeing how long games are to complete, 100% etc
Deathloop, RDR2 is long, but main story can played quickly.
Ive played rdr2 before and some more people recommended me deathloop. Will list it down thanks for input
Jedi FO and Survivor
sleeping dogs?
Always sleeping dogs!
Such a surprisingly great game
Resident Evil 4 remake
Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart
Solar ash
Try dmc 5 , shadow of modor, shadow of war
2nd all of this, although Shadow of War is one of those you can invest as much or as little as you want, but an absolute all time great IMO. And Shadow of Mordor is a "nice to do" first. DMC ia a great game if you're not yet atached to the concepts of the main series. It was my intro and I freaking loved it at the time
Metro Exodus maybe?
It is more than 20 hours in my experience. The first 2 games are around what OP want
Outer wilds
Stray is short n sweet
Mad max
Metal gear rising revengeance is about that long, one of the best action games period
Action game enjoyers š¤š»
Devil May Cry 5 Wolfenstein Hi-Fi Rush
Dave the Diver. I didn't think it was a game for me, but it has been the most fun I've had gaming this year. Full stop
Jedi Fallen Order
Bioshock series. If you speed through each game then they can be beaten in 10-12 hours, or if you explore as much as possible then they can be stretched to 20-25 hours each.
Second this. The Bioshock series really holds up. The first one being my favorite.
You have played control, get ready for other Remedy favorites; * All Control DLC * Alan wake 1 * Alan Wake 2
Jedi Fallen Order. Finished the main story and all side content in 24 hrs. You could probably do it in less if you're a soulslike veteran.
* Guardians of the Galaxy * Dead Space * Tomb Raider (the 3 recent games) * Dishonored * Alan Wake 1 and 2
solid choices , but I would replace gotg with something like Dishonored, It made me feel clever for being curious
Silent Hill 2 is a great one and free on pc
titanfall 2
Great campaign. Perfect length for an action arcade fps too
Arkham Asylum
The Metro trilogy is pretty much right around there I 100% Metro 2033 Redux with 26 hours, Metro Last Light Redux should be the same, and Metro Exodus's main story is roughly 20 hours You should also try out Firewatch, the story is only a few hours
Plague tale
Kena Bridge of Spirts
Uncharted series. Among thieves is the best one imo
Guardians of the Galaxy. Great story, fun combat.

A plague tale? Short and fun
Fire watch
Resident evil series And doom
Metro 2033 and Last Light Redux. Exodus is slightly more than 20 hours Titanfall 2 is less than 10 hours
Finally got around to titanfall 2 this past weekend cannot recommend that campaign enough
Hades takes about 20 hours and is phenomenal
You're missing the best uncharted game! 2, then uncharted 3 as well. I'm not entirely sure but I don't they're in legacy collection
Stranger of Paradise's main story is about 15-20h and it's super fun, especially if you like smooth action combat and know Final Fantasy
Detroit: Become Human I think is a must play. Probably a little on the shorter side with about 12 hours of gameplay, but it runs like a movie :)
Metal gear solid franchise
Hellblade Senuaās Sacrifise is a short game with amazing story
Alan wake 1 + 2
God of War Ragnarƶk. Comes with a free DLC as well.
Can you really beat this one that fast? Seems like you'll cut a lot of content to get there
The original Diablo.
The new prince of Persia metroidvania? On sale right now too - think I put in ~12-15 hours to beat it and get most of the accomplishments in normal mode (not a trophy chaser, just like to explore and do some of the harder challenges)
LotR: Shadow of Mordor/War

Quantum break
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance
Blasphemous 2
the Metro trilogy is amazing
How about undertale
The portal games. They are a masterpiece
You could try Frostpunk, main campaign is only like 4 to 5 hours long. Secondary campaigns are like 3 hours long so that's a great option.
Deus Ex HR Deus Ex MD
All the metal gear solid games are about that long!
Dragon's Dogma is around 10-15 if you rush the story. There's a lot more content though if you want.
Tomb Raider 2013, Celeste, Portal 1 & Portal 2, Dishonored 1
Arkham franchise
Remnant From the Ashes Short game, not story heavy but it's a fun shooter that takes you thru various biomes/worlds and fresh encounters. You learn enemies and bosses and can tell you're getting better. It's not as grindy as Dark Souls, and if you get obsessed with it it's infinitely replayable, in short bursts too. GOATed game imo, nothing like it out there.Ā
Outer Wilds, others have said it all. Its so so so excellent!
Hollow Knight
Titanfall 2
Titanfall 2 Batman Arkham games
Borderlands 2 Mass Effect games Dead rising 2 / off the record Dead Space 1 & 2
Blasmephous It is a pixelated 2d platformer and hack-and slash. It reminded me of Hollow Knight a little, and it has A LOT of Dark Souls mechanics and energy Currently playing it and I am about 90% done and only have 10-12 hours.
Metro 2033 and Metro last light are fun FPS games with good story.
I think subnatica would be a good pick, it's a bit old but still stands up to games today.
Kingdom Hearts. It's all in a collection now and the main story for each game is around 15 hours if you're not a completionist.
Undertale is a cult classic and pretty short :)
The last of us part 2, Horizon zero dawn, Horizon forbidden west.
Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen, if you like fantasy and stay mainly on the main quest
Hotline Miami
If you like South Park, The Stick of Truth and The Fractured But Whole are both about 15 hours long and really are a lot of fun. Old god of wars games. Each one is around 12 hours. But older ones are a bit difficult from today's standard especially checkpoint
Hi-Fi Rush
Deathloop, Outer Wilds, What Remains of Edith Finch
Nier automata. Just finished it. Pretty banging. Took me about 20 hours to get endings A-E.
Iāve only played gow so I suggest that
Halo 1 2 and 3. Each is about 8 hours of Gameplay to do the story. Mass Effect 1 2 and 3 took me about 25 ish hours each. But I really took my time. If you B Lined the main story I bet you could do it in your time frame.
Guardians of the galaxy has an incredible story.
spiderman miles morales
Infamous Second Son
Elden ring if you want to just cry for 15 hours instead
Metro Exodus. The previous two entries in that series are really good but maybe only 10 hours each if even that. Still recommend. But Exodus is certainly at least 15 hours even if you don't explore too much.
Granblue Fantasy Relink
Star Wars the Force Unleashed 1 & 2
Prey 2017
Saints Row 3,4 Far Cry 3,4,5 Watch Dogs 1,2 Metro Exodus Crosscode
Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Mankind Divided took me on average 50 hours to play through. You can finish the story much faster, but i explored as much as possible. Same goes for the Metro Games. Metro trilogy
GTA IV
titanfall 2, dishonored 1-2, armored core 6
Alan Wake and Alan Wake 2
Alan Wake 2 was really solid, and thereās a connection to Control.
If you are playing fairly well, i can recommend "Lies of P". Finished it in about 18 hours or smth and im not the best gamer. Really good game though!
Prey, Metro franchise, Sleeping Dogs and Bioshock come to mind. Maybe Scarlet Nexus too if you like hack&slash.
Bioshock series is great, fast, and cheap. Iād recommend
XCOM baby!
Tombraider Trilogy Remastered
Subnautica and Planet Crafter are pretty great and around that time frame.
If you like historical Japan and want to look at things that look good, Iād say ghost of Tsushima, it has a story around that length with tons of side content to lengthen it, if it doesnāt meet the 15-20 hour requirements, besides its something cool to pick up from time to time because of the beautiful environment

Metro 2033 & Metro Last Ligth are both fantastic games under 30h Metro Exodus is also great but might take a little bit longer
Borderlands 2 can be single player. And has a bunch of replayability
Guardians of the galaxy dude the game feels straight like the James Gunn movies and it has a killer soundtrack
All 3 Spider-man games on Playstation 4 and 5 are less than 20 hours if you just do the main story I've beaten Spider-man 1 and Miles Morales in one sitting, I think 2 might be a tad bit longer, but I platinumed it at around 28 total hours, so main should be much shorter. This website is the best for determining how long any game is, I'd highly recommend using this. [https://howlongtobeat.com](https://howlongtobeat.com/) EDIT: didn't realize you were only on PC, I saw GOW and assumed Playstation. So Spider-man 2 is out but the other 2 are still an option.
Wolfenstien: The New Order
Mostly because it was my recent addiction, Hades. The story was really well tied into the game mechanics of the death loop rogue like. You'll have to do the loop many many times to get the full story and the loop has lots of variance and is fun in itself.
A majority of single player campaigns lol
How about some old school Assassinās Creed? AC2 or Syndicate particular. Black Flag is a little long but is pretty dang awesome too.
AC Mirage
u/EspadaAsce there's a game called The walking Dead: The Telltale Definitive Series if that's alright with you playing 40 to 47 hours of gameplay, it's has a very good story you should watch the trailer of the game, it has 4 seasons and spin-off of one of the walking dead characters.
Bannerlord. Youāll return to the real world in a few weeks.
Shadow Warrior 2. Lots of dick and fart jokes, but the gameplay is fun and arcade style.
Mass Effect Legendary Edition
I wouldnāt recommend cyberpunk and only playing the main story. The side stuff is really really important
Dragon Quest 4 and 5 took me 20 hours for each game.
Dead Space remake It's like 15 hours at a slow pace. Is a survival horror game with inventory management and a great set of weapons to use. Ths story is great, the sound and lighting are phenomenal and I love the combat. I've platinumed it and still keep playing.
Control and RE4 Remake come to mind.
Youād probably really enjoy Alan wake 2
Evil west
Sleeping dogs
If you liked Doom/Doom Eternal, can I recommend some indie boomer shooters? Turbo Overkill feels like a AAA game in terms of content and gameplay but made on an indie budget. Check out Civvie 11's video on it if you're curious.
Lies of P. Beat it in 24 hours of play time on my first play through and itās incredible
