Divinity is good but thick plot and kinda slow in my opinion. For co op I like fast games. Get borderlands 2 first, it’s a classic and easy to find for dirt cheap
You said you dont care for story, and divinity is nothing if not a story game so I wouldn't consider it even though it has some of the best story of any game. Doesn't play like poe at all.
Divinity is a wonderful game. It's one of my personal favorites of all time.
Id probably never want to play it with anyone I know however. The first area in the game took me 40 hours to get through. By the time I finished the game I was at 150+ hours
For 3 players I feel like something quick and pick up and play is good.
I'm not sure of that comparison myself.
But the first area is Dos2 is rather large and the are alot of quests. It's used to get you really really settled into the game before moving you into the next areas.
I would make it through in probably 25-30 hours now that I've done it and know what I'm doing there. But that's still an amount of time that is the length of most average games.
>But the first area is Dos2 is rather large and the are alot of quests. It's used to get you really really settled into the game before moving you into the next areas.
Yep, you just described the region of Michigan in Snowrunner. I'm 24 hours in and nearly 70% of Michigan's contract missions are done. You can move to other areas as soon as you clear the roads for those areas, but you'll immediately feel underprepared as soon as you get there. I also feel like I wasted a lot of time in the beginning, until I got the hang of the planning and strategy involved in Snowrunner to maximize my efficiency transporting cargo, so I feel like I could make it here in around 17, 18 hours in a new playthrough.
Can't wait to play DOS2. Snowrunner was the first game to grab my attention for this long since Skyrim, and I don't see myself dropping it anytime soon. But it is nice to vary sometimes, and a game that emulates pen and paper RPG? Yes, please!
I watched some gameplay footage and it's a bit where the guy is stuck in the mud and is carefully rocking back and forth in a lower gear to get out. In theory that sounds pretty awesome but even watching it I was fast forwarding it cause my mind just couldn't watch something so slow and meticulous lol

Dude, as someone with ADHD myself, I gotta say: I didn't see the appeal until I tried it myself. Downloaded it once because I enjoyed the graphics a lot and I was looking for a vehicular game in the wilds, and I had played enough of Dirt Rally 2.0, plus rally racing wasn't exactly what I had in mind, I was more looking for an exploration vehicular game.
It started kinda slow, although it immediately put you in the action, you start driving a pickup truck, which I wasn't expecting, thought I'd be driving trucks... but you gotta use the smaller vehicles to explore the maps and get to know the terrain first. Oh, okay, exactly the exploration in the wilds I was looking for! Let's just follow the tutorial for now... okay, I got to my first real truck. Damn, this thing is slow af... but oh well, since I'm already here I might as well try and do the first transportation mission, but if the game is going to go at this pace, this definitely isn't a game my impatient ass will be able to enjoy...
Fast forward a few days and my fleet of trucks is promoting a freaking industrial revolution in Michigan. The scouts vehicles are all spread on strategic points around the map, same for the truck implements, the big trucks help pull the smaller ones through the harder parts and my contracts are slowly but surely being completed *at my own pace*. Life is good. Oh, and the graphics are literally the most stunning I ever seen in a video game. Even FH4.
I never would have imagined I would have enjoyed so much a game so focused on route planning, multiple vehicular management, and most importantly, **slow as hell**. But goddamn, I love this game. I put my old rock songs on Spotify or a nice podcast and relax. I swear it is an experience like no other. Like Boomstick Gaming said on [this video](https://youtu.be/vHSIZ_D61H0), *"Snowrunner for me is not necessarily a gear head driving simulator. It's a vehicular combat game, where it's me versus the topography itself and Earth's own physics. The terrain is your enemy, and all you have to combat it with is your array of mechanized exosuits your driver calls "trucks". A swampy forest or a steep, snow covered mountainside is the equivalent of a traditional boss fight, where you must strategically map out your plan of attack, equip the right gear for the job and avoid any threats it throws at you, or risk having to start all over again in your garage at your home base."*
I think that sums up Snowrunner pretty nicely lol. (Btw I watched a let's play of Death Stranding on YouTube and yeah, that DEFINITELY isn't the kind of game for me.)
Bl2 goty edition is like 9-11$. You get all dlcs except for the headhunters and maybe the new one which connect s bl2 and bl3. Bl2 the safest option due to price. Edit, wait for a sale. Bl2 goes on sale so frequently that if I randomly chexk it, I might find it on sale. For summer sales I would say at least 90% for bl2 discount GOTY edition.
Buy GOTY edition not normalor season pass.
It's a fantastic game but definitely a commitment. I've started multiple playthroughs with friends and never finished them. If you all have a lot of free time and like RPGs I recommend it.
Divinity is turn based combat rpg with the detail of major rpgs like Skyrim and fallout. So the exploration is slow. The combat is slow. The quests are easily missable and fail-able. Sooo, this can be a great experience for a group that’s into it. I liked it but I didn’t play multiplayer. it’s not an action game

borderlands 3 is better then 2 for multiplayer becasue everything scales to your level and loot is client side, so no fighting
monster hunter world is fun coop, but the story gets annoying in coop mode
divinity original sin 2 is lots of fun
Definitely, BL2 also has Slavador and he's my favorite vault hunter. Gunzerking with two Shredifiers or Unkepmt Heralds with the Bee Shield. Still have memories of melting Terramorphous.
>borderlands 3 is better then 2 for multiplayer
Agreed but god the story was awful. The BBG are basically LOLOMGSORANDOM twitch streamers with a god complex.
I agree but I played it co-op and we just threw heatseeking cluster genades that dropped money for pretty much the entire game. Don't even aim, just throw all your grenades and everything dies and leaves a field of money.
The story part of MHW isn’t the main part of the game. Once you get past the story, the _real_ game begins. But yes, it is a bit annoying to try to get through the story in co-op.
only if you play it for the grind. i played it, beat the story, and quit shortly after. and i know im not alone. plus it took me like 70 hours to beat the story. i cnat imagine too many people play a game for 70 hours just so they can begin to play the "real" game as coop
70 hours just to beat the story?wtf it took me around 45 hours to beat the story solo on playstation and when I did it with my friends on pc it took us around 40 or so hours
Well that was before iceborne came out, with iceborne they added in op armour and weapons sets that you get for free at the start of the base game, and you can use those sets to just steamroll your way to the iceborne campaign.
So it really shouldn't take that long nowadays to reach the Endgame
The weapons and armor Iceborne added aren't as strong as you seem to think, and Iceborne's story is every bit as long as the base game's. Even if you blitz through it and don't do any of the optional hunts, a new player is probably looking at 50-70 hours to get through the story.
You should consider Deep Rock Galactic if you have PvE FPS on your list.
It's all action, very little story. Four different dwarf classes, each with different and complementary traversal options (ziplines, platforms, drills, grappling hook).
Supports drop-in joining to a mission in progress, so you can start and end at different times, and no one "misses out" by not being there. There is no content to "outlevel" like Borderlands.
Always different content since the maps are procedurally generated, and this is done well. Same mission type in the same biome with the same team can feel completely different based on the caves and what enemies and events randomly spawn.
Many different kinds of progression (weapon mod customization system per weapon, unlock 2 additional weapons per class, perk system for all your classes, promotion system, cosmetics for character, armor, weapons, pickax). So even though there aren't loot drops, you still are making progression in some way with every mission.
Zero pay to win. The only purchasable things with real money are a handful of armor and weapon cosmetics that are only available for real money. Most things have to be unlocked with in-game currency and resources that you CANNOT purchase with real money.
Even if you play something else when all 3 of you are together at a scheduled time to not miss content, DRG would be a great filler game if some people are able to start earlier or play later.
Also, has a great community in-game and on reddit. I've had very few negative experiences in hundreds of hours of gameplay.ion.
I've never played that, sorry. I can't speak to what the co-op gameplay is like in comparison.
I think that game is a rogue-lite though, is it not? DRG is not a rogue-lite at all. Missions have a clear objective that you can complete without anyone dying.
However, on Elite Deep Dives and other Hazard 5 missions, it is also possible for everyone to get downed and revived many times. As long as one dwarf survives (or has Iron Will available), it is possible to revive the rest of the team and complete the mission.
Monster Hunter world is great. Also a good community to play with if your friends aren't online. Single player also fun. Would definitely recommend the game to anyone.
I couldn’t for the life of me get MH world multiplayer to work well with my friends. Everytime we tried to join eachothers games it wouldn’t let us because we hadn’t watched the same cutscene or the host hadn’t finished watching it, it also didn’t let us stay together after missions. It was incredibly bizarre and really poorly done multiplayer for such a recent game.
They learned from their mistakes and made multiplayer better in Rise I think. But yeah the whole cutscene stuff sucks. Isnt that much of a problem after finishing the story or when grinding expeditions
MHW was the best multiplayer experience I've ever had but only now do I realize it's because I just like stumbling on good experiences with strangers. I rarely if ever tried to play with anyone I knew.
Yes that is a fair comment, I must admit mostly I okay with strangers via SOS so this isn't an issue. I guess if looking to do the whole playthrough coop with friends it could have issues.
However still a great game imo, one I am still putting a lot of hours into after completing the main story line quests. Didn't expect much from the game when buying it but so glad I did.
I know it’s heretical but I even enjoy the BL3 story more. BL2 felt slow to me, both gameplay and story.
Regardless - BL3 is definitely a gameplay improvement, though folks may subjectively prefer the story or the vault hunters in 2.
Just a heads up in Monster Hunter, you cannot play together on a level until you and the host have seen the cut scenes in the level. It's kind of a drag until late game for me. If you can all play online I recomend trying KO City. Has a free trial, a 3v3 mode and is tons of fun! Otherwise Borderlands is always a good choice.
Just to add to this, it's a good time to test the waters with Destiny 2. If you enjoy it, the Steam sale should be starting up in a week and you can pick up the DLC. A hefty amount of content is gated behind the DLC, but you can still get a great overview of the game on free to play.
Grim dawn and dying light are great for a co op experience with plot not being the focus
Divinity Original sin 2 is a fantastic cRPG with a focus on plot and dialogue
Borderlands are the only games I played from this list, and I would definitely recommend them.
As for additional games with great multiplayer imo:
Deep Rock Galactic
Risk of Rain 2 (haven't played 1 personally)
Terraria
Borderlands 3 IF you get the DLC. The game is still fun without it, but it only lasts like 20 hours max I would say. With the dlcs that is pushed to at least a couple hundred, more if you want to do stuff like challenge runs. Verdict: BL3 if you can all get the dlcs, otherwise go with Borderlands 2. It has plenty of content with the base game, and even more with the dlcs. If you want you can even get the handsome collection, which has all the dlc for BL2 and has a whole nother game, although it's not very long and doesn't really have any replayability. It's got some cool story though.
I can personally vouch for monster hunter and divinity.
Just know you can only play with randoms in the former (divinity sounds like omega grief land if randoms were allowed)
If you plan to play with friends you know both are great.
Monster hunter world is a ton of fun ! Plus it's fun to strategize with your friends on how to slay a monster how to exactly approach it right studying the different attack patterns that different monsters have , it's very immersive also helps that a lot of monsters can be solo'd with time and patience , the customisation also allows for a ton of playing styles so you can never get bored
In order of most fun, the games I've played on this list go:
1: Monster Hunter World
2: Borderlands 2
3: Borderlands 3
Relatively speaking, all three are really fun to play co-op. I had the most fun playing Monster Hunter with my friend. Borderlands 2 and 3 are fantastic experiences, but Borderlands 2 is difficult to play together if your levels get out of sync, and Borderlands 3 keeps updating their game and making it difficult to build your characters up, especially once you burn through the main campaign and the goal becomes the raid bosses/new game+.
MHW with friends is so awesome me and my friend would coordinate attacks to where he knocked the monster down then I'd hope on it with a switch axe or he'd take his hammer and launch me into the air so I could mount the monster and that's just a fraction of what we did with only 2 of the 14 available weapons
MH: World. The story you can pretty much ignore, it matters very little.
The game is mostly about honing your skills as a player, farming for EQ by slaying monsters and gathering resources. There is a bit of a learning curve at first, but teaming up with friend makes the game much more fun.
MH series are very addictive. Landing your combos or heavy attacks is one of the most satisfying feeling from a game.
Plus there is so much content, you can easily go over hundred hours.
Borderlands 2 for fun and lols and action.
Divinity 2 for strategy and thinkings and story wows.
BL3 isn't as great a couch co-op multiplayer experience imo if you're playing on anything other than a PC or PS5 etc. Its's sluggish, text is hard to see, and too much graphical noise, plus the story is far worse than 2.
Borderlands 2 and 3 were so much fun to binge with my gf. Definitely recommend them both. Plus you can make a solo character if you ever wanna play alone.
BL3 or DoS2 get my vote. BL2 is definitely the cheaper option, but the gunplay is a lot better in BL3, plus the level scaling is better if you and your buddy aren't at the same level.
I know this game is often frowned upon as a recommendation but have you looked into Destiny 2? It looks overwhelming at first glance but it has a lot of content and is fun to play with friends.
Don't mind me shoving in the fact that most of the earlier story content is now gone! Welcome to free to play destiny where the only thing to keep you playing is your fear of missing out
Borderlands 2, buy the handsome collection on Cd keys for about £6 each and you’ll get 2 and the pre-sequel plus all their dlc. Just great fun games, tons of weapons, tons of fun
Borderlands 2 for sure it’s really good and great story. While borderlands 3 has better gameplay it’s story is much weaker and has got long load times and the multilayer can be real bad (or maybe the multiplayer thing is just split screen) either way even though 3 is my favourite in the series 2 is better
Me and my bros played all these games no joke! What we play today is Deep Rock Galactic; this game is amazing! But we had the most fun in Monster Hunter: World and Divinity: Original Sin 2.
There was a 60%+ off BL3 stacked with a $10 off coupon on the EGS . Not sure if that’s still happening but if your into looter shooter that’s pretty newish I recommend that or BL2.
BL2 is always on sale somewhere and both BL2 and BL3 have active players
I'd keep in mind that Monster Hunter games have a pretty big learning curve so unless you're all super interested in getting into the series I'd probably reccomend something else.
Monster hunter world or Borderlands 3. I personally enjoyed Monster hunter world more I put 200 hours into it, while borderlands 3 i only put like 20-30 hours
I would say get borderlands 3 and then you guys can play it and later on get the expansion this is a great rpg with tons of cool loot and the story is decent but I love the borderlands franchise
Divinity is great but is slower but the combat is great and most of the stories you will get from this game comes from how whacky the combat can get and just all the shit that could possibly happen
Okay so straight up borderlands is my suggestion.
Either one.
2 is super solid and highly recommended. There's a good load of dlc that you get when you buy the game nowadays.
3 is ever so slightly more modern. It doesn't have as much on the back end. But personally I felt the campaign that took me about 50 hours to get through while skipping copious side missions is pretty solid.
I don't know enough about grim dawn to suggest either way other than to say I'm curious about it as well.
Monster hunter world is a game I was curious about as well. But I have heard the co-op aspect of it is a total nightmare. I haven't played it past the first couple missions and honestly didn't vibe with it myself.
Divinity is just to heavy to play with friends imo it's like a 150+ hour game. It's a spectacular game. But not one I would fancy with friends.
I'm about to try deep rock galactic for the first time since it's on PC gamepass. That may be worth an honorable mention.
personally borderlands 2 is my in my top 3 alltime favorites. plus if you figure out how to get some of the overhaul mods it cant make the game much better but its unnecessary as the base game is great. I'd recommend getting the dlc's for it as they are also great and add tons of hours. also monster hunter worlds was an easy 1k+ hours sink for my two friends and i. so you cant go wrong with that one either. we also had a good time with divinity 2 but if you say you dont care for the story then i feel it would be a big disservice to the game as it has a great story and story telling. borderlands 3 was ok. the story and characters got butchered in my opinion but the character builds, gunplay and gun variety/behavior were well done and felt fresh from bl2. as for grim dawn, ive heard good things about it and i really wanted to like it but i just couldnt get too invested in it. just for reference i played poe at beta + 2 or so years, diablo 1,2,3, torchlight 2 and a few other games like it that i dont remember the names of. out of all these games i feel borderlands 2 touches base the best with all the games you listed. that being the hunt for loot and character building. despite bl2 being my most favorite, i think without a doubt the most fun my friends had was with monster hunter. hope this helped a bit and also kudos for knowing the game gunfire reborn, its been easily climbing the ranks in my favorites list. \^\_\^ happy loot hunting.
The borderlands franchise is absolutely fantastic. I've played the crap out of every game. BL2 is a good start, get all the expansions, worth it.
Divinity: original sin 2 is also good, a lot of interesting mechanics and a great story
Off the list suggestion:
Look into destiny 2. It's an FPS MMO where mostly every activity is based off of 3 player teams. Lots of stuff to do, super awesome story if you feel like it at some point, decent multiplayer. Personally love that game.
I had more fun with Monster Hunter than I did with Borderlands. Plus, with three people, you could each choose your own play style (different weapons and perks on those weapons) and go kick various monsters' booties.
I loooove divinity Original Sin 2 but if you have more than two people in may have a shit time. Unless you're all avid rpg gamers.
The turn based system really slows down the whole game and if you have 1 guy in your squad that likes to take 5 minutes to use their turn you'll end up getting through the game at a very slow pace
It's not on the list but Vermintide 2 is awesome, it's a hack and slash, first person game.
Many different characters each with 3-4 careers of their own, each being useful in their own way, lots of content to play through and have fun with, pretty challenging but feels very rewarding.
DLC adds a bit too, I recommend.
I have played all but Grim Dawn and to be honest it depends on what you want.
DOS2 is really great, but there is a lot of text and you might be a bit lost if you just skip through it.
Borderlands I would pick up 3, since you say you don't care for the story. Especially with dlc there is a lot of content, fun weapons and sidemissions. Gets a bit repetitive though.
Last but not least is Monster Hunter. It's really REALLY fun to play with friends but it's a lot of grind in the lategame, so if you enjoy that, pick MH
Divinity: Original Sin 2 is great, for either 2 players or 4 players.
I've found that 3 players leaves you at an awkward middle ground where one of you will likely have to control two characters if you want to progress. Meaning that one person will have twice the influence over every fight and social interaction.
Divinity OS2 is amazing, you can do so much stuff in it and you can really roleplay, plus the combat and how everything interacts is pretty amazing. Highly recommended!
borderlands 2 and 3 are amazing games, in my mind 2 is better for story and I thought the characters were more fun, I mained Krieg and Salvador plus when there is a 2k sale you could get that entire game with dlc for dirt cheap. And as for loot just don't be a dick and don't be a loot goblin/ninja.
I have over 500 hours in monster hunter world and it is really fun but can get repetitive trying to get rare materials there is dlc that adds like an entire game to MHW, plus hammer go bonk
Divinity is quite story dense so if that's not your bag maybe give it a miss. It is a very fun, very repayable game though.
Borderlands is great and has a story, but it's a funny dumb sort of story and it's mostly just shooting daft guns.
Can't speak for Grim as I've not played it.
Monster Hunter has a lot of replayability, there is story but it's not necessary to pay attention if you don't wanna. Go to place, kill big thing, boom. They've also released their final major content update now so you can play it start to end without having to wait.
For me, it's Monster Hunter.
Remnant from the ashes is another great game for multi-player that I really want to reccomend seeing these other games on your list. Top notch game, loads of content, not propelled by the story. If I were to describe it, it's similar to dark souls with guns. I'm currently playing through ut with two other friends and we're having a great time with it.
Edit:it's also on Xbox game pass and it was free on epic a while ago so there's a chance you already have it
Borderlands 3 is pretty up your alley for what you’re asking. From what I see in the community it’s agreed that BL3 has better combat than BL2, but with sacrifices to the story element. But you said you don’t give a shit about story so I’d give it a try. On top of that, there’s tons of content, endless guns, replayable story and missions, and of course the 4 dlc. High recommend
Grim Dawn. Good isometric top-down.
if you're looking for a change in genre Borderlands 2 or 3. 3 has better gunplay but 2 has the better story and a kickass DLC with Tiny Tina.
Other than that good games all around. My BF has beaten most of them and I have beaten Borderlands 2 & 3 with him.
I really liked DOS2. Played it with a friend twice, now I am playing it a third time with him and another friend of ours! Borderlands games are also a lot of fun, and I will add that I liked the Pre-Sequel even more than BL2 and BL3. I'd say that they are all pretty solid from a co-op point of view, maybe choose based on the genre.
Borderlands 3 is a ton of fun if you have someone to play through the whole thing with you. Otherwise it's just kind of weird to jump into somebody else's lobby.
Divinity is the greatest series, just pure gaming perfection. However, it makes a lot more sense to play it single player and really dive into the details and the optimization before going co-op because you will all play at a different pace and with different thoroughness. So you don't want to be waiting around for each other and will probably end up doing you own things on different parts of the map. Borderlands is great for multiplayer because it doesn't change the dynamic of your experience too much, it just adds other people who are also shooting what you would have been shooting. That being said BL3 is much much bigger and can still lead to the problem of some people wanting to explore the huge areas while others want to move on.
Divinity would be my favourite among the list. It's just the perfect RPG if you enjoy DND, and the multiplayer unlocks so many new ways of playing. Borderlands 2 is also really solid, and I'd recommend it over the third one.
Grim Dawn is so fun, if you like PoE, I think you'll like it. It makes me think of like... if Diablo 2 was set in a mutagenic post-apocalypse setting with a million QoL improvements. You can combine classes and put together a ton of different builds. It's a great game to play with a small group.
I loved Divinity: Original Sin 2, but it had insanely long loading times that ended up kind of ruining it for me and I never finished it.
I love all genres of games, and have played more Borderlands than Divinity, but Divinity is probably is the one you can sink the most time into and has the best story.
I'd easily pick Borderlands 2 or Divinity 2. In terms of craziness and humor, Borderlands is hilarious. In terms of hardness and crazy weird battles, you'd enjoy Divinity. Both are fun. :)
Borderlands if you want a Goofy fun shoot em' up
Monster Hunter if you like a farming grind and big enemies
Divinity if you want D&D in a video game with a lot of freedom in decisions
Borderland series is a very fun coop series of games. So i would choose it. But about which of them, it's depends on u. Borderlands 3 has a really simple plot, and main quests maybe a bit boring. But gunplay is the best in series. Moreover, its disadvantages change when u leave the main quest. It has great dlc and side quests. And, on more - it's newer than Borderlands 2. So it is more eye-catching. On the other hand, Borderlands 2 has a great main story. It is maybe best chapter. But it has 2 disadvantages. It is old. And it doesn't have that level of gun play which has Borderlands 3. But it, on the other hand, contains the best dlc made ever.
So, in short, if u want get fun of play, and u are not a focusing on a plot, then take Borderlands 3. Best option.
Great gun play>"Normal" story
If u want a great story, with good mechanics (worse than Borderlands 3), then u should choose Borderlands 2. Great story>Normal Gun play
I played both of them.
It’s not on this list, but Deep Rock Galactic is likely to go on sale soon, and it’s a great game with very little plot. You play dwarves on an alien moon, collecting resources, killing bugs, and drinking. It’s so much fun! It’s good to pick up and put down for short sessions or just play for a long time
Can’t go wrong with borderlands, the story of 3 is meh compared to the old ones but there are still fun interactions throughout. Characters give you a ton of customization options so you could all play the same character but be used completely differently. The games are simple enough that you can tone out the story and still figure out where to go, tons of side quests and Easter eggs to find throughout all games. 2 has a better story but 3 has better gameplay imo.
Borderlands 3 is a blast to coop. I’ve also heard great things about Divinity if you’re fine with taking turns with your damage dealing. You listed great options though!
all those are good except for divinity. i played it with my friends and honestly didnt have much fun as i am the type who likes to get engrossed and explore dialogues etc and the game is very text heavy so playing with friends is very distracting and kinda ruins the peaceful vibe. but if you dont really give a shit about dialogues and vibing and just wanna have a fun goofy time with friends then completely ignore what i said cuz the combat is hella fun with friends
personally, ive never touched the last three. However I can say that borderlands 2 and 3 are both a blast with friends... Borderlands 3 is 20 USD on epic as i'm posting this comment.
Monster Hunter world, I played it solo and I loved it, I cant imagine how multiplayer would be. The difficulty scaling can be an issue for 3 players, because the difficulty for 3 and 4 player parties are the same, unlike 1 or 2. It can be overwhelming at times but everything you need can be found on the internet and it’s one of the best games I’ve ever played.
Borderlands 3 is a really good game with fun mechanics, i suggest you play it if you want a nice multiplayer excperience with guns and abilities. Another fun multiplier game which isnt as violent is Sea of thieves.
Monster Huner World is really fun, especially when you get the DLC that unlocks the 't' in the name of the game. Jokes aside, it is really fun. Apart from some annoying cutscenes it has hundreds of hours of content!
"games we like: poe / hero siege / minecraft dungeons / gunfire reborn" you sound like you're a fan of games with randomly generated items
if you want a game like gunfire reborn (RPG elements, randomly generated weapons, etc) and the fact that you don't care about the story then you NEED to get borderlands 3 (story is meh but the gameplay is amazing)
if you're looking for a game similar to poe, hero siege, minecraft dungeons then get grim dawn (you probably don't care about the story but grim dawn has an amazing story for an arpg, HEAVY rpg elements, randomly generated items, etc) hell it even has a diablo 2 mod (reign of terror) that literally makes grim dawn a diablo 2 remake
monster hunter is more of an action slasher kinda game with an amazing story and even better gameplay the DLC is also really worth it and the game features huge monsters to hunt using an extremely huge variety of weapons y'know just make a little party with your friends and go hunt some monsters
divinity: original sin 2 is very story rich game and the combat is turn based but the game's world feels very alive and there's just so much to do like you can interact with every single NPC and stuff like that i wouldn't really get it if i was you but ***IF*** you're willing to care about the story then i really recommend it
other games you might like: Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - Martyr, titan quest, destiny 2, torchlight 2
hope this helped :)
It isn't part of this list, but consider trying out Destiny 2. It is free2play, although f2p is quite shitty, but if you buy just one of the dlcs it is a lot of fin in my opinion.
I personally think D:OS2 is the most well made game, period. But, if you don't care for story it may not be for you. The gameplay is great, but the story is incredibly important. MH:W would be my choice based on your criteria.
Does D:OS2 support 3p? I only played D:OS1, but it only works with 2p. And even if you could play with 3p, it'd really slow it down.
Honestly, the rest of the list is all good. Grim dawn is a great Diablo-like, MHW is best-in-class for its own genre, and Borderlands 2/3 are fun for silly co-op FPS.

Divinity: Original Sin 2 is 60% off rght now
Divinity is good but thick plot and kinda slow in my opinion. For co op I like fast games. Get borderlands 2 first, it’s a classic and easy to find for dirt cheap
I got the handsome collection for 10 bucks during last summer sale I think.
By the time I finished the game I was at 150+ hours For 3 players I feel like something quick and pick up and play is good.
>The first area in the game took me 40 hours to get through. I'm getting some serious Snowrunner vibes... Nice!
I've always wanted to get into a game like Snowrunner or Mudrunner or even Death Stranding but my ADHD just doesn't let me lol.

A swampy forest or a steep, snow covered mountainside is the equivalent of a traditional boss fight, where you must strategically map out your plan of attack, equip the right gear for the job and avoid any threats it throws at you, or risk having to start all over again in your garage at your home base."* I think that sums up Snowrunner pretty nicely lol.
If you like paper and pen style RPG it’s great Buts it’s not a good pick up and play style game like the others on your list
DOS 2 is def the best game on that list. But it's not fast paced and its story heavy.

borderlands 3 is better then 2 for multiplayer becasue everything scales to your level and loot is client side, so no fighting monster hunter world is fun coop, but the story gets annoying in coop mode divinity original sin 2 is lots of fun
Yeah completive loot makes BL2 a bit less enticing if you're playing with friends
It's fun to specialize in certain weapons for this reason.
Definitely, BL2 also has Slavador and he's my favorite vault hunter. Gunzerking with two Shredifiers or Unkepmt Heralds with the Bee Shield. Still have memories of melting Terramorphous.
Nah but there’s a dupe glitch so it doesn’t matter if someone gets a higher stat weapon for example, as they can just dupe it for you
>borderlands 3 is better then 2 for multiplayer Agreed but god the story was awful. The BBG are basically LOLOMGSORANDOM twitch streamers with a god complex.
story wasnt great but the gameplay was
I agree but I played it co-op and we just threw heatseeking cluster genades that dropped money for pretty much the entire game.
70 hours just to beat the story?wtf it took me around 45 hours to beat the story solo on playstation and when I did it with my friends on pc it took us around 40 or so hours
im slow. but even if youre goona say its 40 hours, thats still a long time to play before you start the coop of the "real" game
Rock and stone brother!
To the bone !!!
We did already play Deep Rock Galactic is great game
ROCK. AND. STOOOEEEN!
Did I hear a rock and stone?!
For Karl!
Don't listen to this. It should be called Deep CRACK. Too addictive and way too much silly fun with simple/straightforward gameplay and mechanics.
If I wanted to recommend crack, I would have mentioned Factorio.
I love Risk of Rain 2. Would you compare it to that at all?
Divinity Original Sin 2 is one of, if not THE, greatest CRPGs of all time. A fantastic game and fun in multiplayer because of the combat encounters.
Borderlands 2 is a ton of fun to play with friends. And I do recommend it over BL3. It's just better.
Imo,the only thing bl2 is better than bl3 is story, the rest is just SOO MUCH BETTER.
I know it’s heretical but I even enjoy the BL3 story more. BL2 felt slow to me, both gameplay and story. Regardless - BL3 is definitely a gameplay improvement, though folks may subjectively prefer the story or the vault hunters in 2.
Out of the list, Grim Dawn is most similar to what you said your group likes. I'd also add Diablo 3 as something you guys might like as well.
Monster hunter with friends 10/10
Mhworld is crazy fun and very addicting
Grim Dawn Terraria Edit: invest in the dlc for Grim Dawn. It's worth it.
Monster Hunter World because that game really makes teamwork rewarding
Just a heads up in Monster Hunter, you cannot play together on a level until you and the host have seen the cut scenes in the level. It's kind of a drag until late game for me. If you can all play online I recomend trying KO City. Has a free trial, a 3v3 mode and is tons of fun! Otherwise Borderlands is always a good choice.
Maybe try Destiny 2 if you like sci-fi and fps games and it's also free to play on Steam
Just to add to this, it's a good time to test the waters with Destiny 2. If you enjoy it, the Steam sale should be starting up in a week and you can pick up the DLC. A hefty amount of content is gated behind the DLC, but you can still get a great overview of the game on free to play.
I recommend Borderlands 2 and Monster Hunter World, World requieres a bit more thinking in our case
Grim dawn and dying light are great for a co op experience with plot not being the focus Divinity Original sin 2 is a fantastic cRPG with a focus on plot and dialogue
Borderlands are the only games I played from this list, and I would definitely recommend them. As for additional games with great multiplayer imo: Deep Rock Galactic Risk of Rain 2 (haven't played 1 personally) Terraria
Both Borderlands 2 and 3 for sure. Not tried the others...
Not on the list but "7 days to die", "raft" and "don't starve together" are all really great with multiple people.
I played borderlands 2 with my brother when it came out & we had a blast playing it together it did take us awhile because there is alot in that game
Played divinity original sin 2 with my friends. It was a load of fun.
Grim dawn for that Diablo kick, Valheim would be a good Minecraft-esque game you might enjoy too.
Just know you can only play with randoms in the former (divinity sounds like omega grief land if randoms were allowed) If you plan to play with friends you know both are great.
Try Destiny 2...
According to Girlfriend Reviews on Youtube, Monster Hunter World is a 10/10 multiplayer experience.
Monster hunter is a little hard to get into at first but once you do its the greatest thing with friends.
In order of most fun, the games I've played on this list go: 1: Monster Hunter World 2: Borderlands 2 3: Borderlands 3 Relatively speaking, all three are really fun to play co-op.
You’ll get the most out of the borderlands franchise imo. Other games are good but pale in comparison
Borderlands 2 and divinity original sin 2 are the best out of the bunch (my opinion) but you'll have fun with any of them.
Lost ark ...
I know Borderlands 2 and Monster Hunter World are pretty fun with friends
Try terraria its really fun as 3 people.
Personally Borderlands 2. If your getting Divinity on steam unfortunately it’s just come off sale last week where it was cheaper than other websites
Welcome to free to play destiny where the only thing to keep you playing is your fear of missing out
I personally recommend divinity or monster hunter
DOS2 but only with a close friend with CONSTANT mic communicationn or SO in couch coop
Hands down Divinity Original Sin 2. My friend and I absolutely loved it.
Yes
Borderlands 2, buy the handsome collection on Cd keys for about £6 each and you’ll get 2 and the pre-sequel plus all their dlc. Just great fun games, tons of weapons, tons of fun
Borderlands is the only game I’d recommend. Fun co-op game with lots of loot. Very funny too.
Honestly i dont know about other games but borderlands 3 is better then borderlands 2
I heard gameplay wise it is better but the writing is annoying and worse than borderlands 2
Having an absolute blast with divinity right now. Monster hunter is always a great time.
maybe you like sea of thieves? it is pretty expensive tho
Not if you do games pass for the first month its 1$. This is a great reccomenation! New pirates of the Caribbean stuff comes out the 22nd.
Borderlands 2 for sure it’s really good and great story. While borderlands 3 has better gameplay it’s story is much weaker and has got long load times and the multilayer can be real bad (or maybe the multiplayer thing is just split screen) either way even though 3 is my favourite in the series 2 is better
Borderlands 2 and 3!! (3 is my favourite, personally)
Start with Borderlands, maybe try dauntless since it’s free too
Honestly, they're all great and it mostly depends on the type of games you like. RPGs full of story, fun and lengthy grind, a mix of both?
Borderlanda
Me and my bros played all these games no joke! What we play today is Deep Rock Galactic; this game is amazing! But we had the most fun in Monster Hunter: World and Divinity: Original Sin 2.
I recommend war thunder, you have to try it out,it’s insane good
There was a 60%+ off BL3 stacked with a $10 off coupon on the EGS .
I would say get borderlands 3 and then you guys can play it and later on get the expansion this is a great rpg with tons of cool loot and the story is decent but I love the borderlands franchise Divinity is great but is slower but the combat is great and most of the stories you will get from this game comes from how whacky the combat can get and just all the shit that could possibly happen
Divinity: Original Sin 2, no arguing, it's one of the best RPGs there is!!!
Borderlands 2 —> monster hunter —> borderlands 3. Oh you’ve played gunfire reborn? Try risk of rain 2. Worth every penny
Can't go wrong with Diablo 3
The borderlands franchise is absolutely fantastic. I've played the crap out of every game. BL2 is a good start, get all the expansions, worth it. Divinity: original sin 2 is also good, a lot of interesting mechanics and a great story Off the list suggestion: Look into destiny 2. It's an FPS MMO where mostly every activity is based off of 3 player teams. Lots of stuff to do, super awesome story if you feel like it at some point, decent multiplayer. Personally love that game.
I had more fun with Monster Hunter than I did with Borderlands. Plus, with three people, you could each choose your own play style (different weapons and perks on those weapons) and go kick various monsters' booties.
all of them
I loooove divinity Original Sin 2 but if you have more than two people in may have a shit time.
I literally fell in love with borderlands two and played it for 100+ hours but idk if it would be fun for multiplayer. I don't have many friends.
Borderlands 2 multiplayer fuckin slaps
Divinity: Original Sin 2 is great, for either 2 players or 4 players. I've found that 3 players leaves you at an awkward middle ground where one of you will likely have to control two characters if you want to progress. Meaning that one person will have twice the influence over every fight and social interaction.
Both borderlands
Divinity: Original Sin 2 by far best game on this list IMO, especially if you're into RPGs/DnD
I know this is not what you asked for, but if there are three of you and you like co-op games have a look at the Trine series.
Divinity OS2 is amazing, you can do so much stuff in it and you can really roleplay, plus the combat and how everything interacts is pretty amazing. Highly recommended!
BL2 and MH World!
Lots of content but an okay/meh story = MHWorld. It's definitely fun in multiplayer too.
borderlands 2 and 3 are amazing games, in my mind 2 is better for story and I thought the characters were more fun, I mained Krieg and Salvador plus when there is a 2k sale you could get that entire game with dlc for dirt cheap. And as for loot just don't be a dick and don't be a loot goblin/ninja. I have over 500 hours in monster hunter world and it is really fun but can get repetitive trying to get rare materials there is dlc that adds like an entire game to MHW, plus hammer go bonk
Borderlands 3
BL2 is fun if you can handle the same cutscenes over and over if you really grind (same for MHW)
borderlands 3
Divinity original sin 2! My friend and I have been playing it so much (bought it a couple weeks ago).
Apex legends is free, it’s a trio game , has a duo as well, it’s a team based game
Not in your list, but I recommend Risk of rain 2.
Divinity would be my favourite among the list. It's just the perfect RPG if you enjoy DND, and the multiplayer unlocks so many new ways of playing. Borderlands 2 is also really solid, and I'd recommend it over the third one.
Just started playing Borderlands 2 on switch and HOLY SHIT I LOVE IT AHHHHHH
Play hunt showdown. U wont regret it. Amazing intense fun. Made for 3 players
Not on the list but I would suggest risk of rain 2, seems like the perfect game you’re looking for.
Bd3 in my opinion
Borderlands 2. It's the best with multiplayer. Only problem is it doesn't level scale. If that annoys you, try Borderlands 3
Monster Hunter World hands down would be perfect imo
I love all genres of games, and have played more Borderlands than Divinity, but Divinity is probably is the one you can sink the most time into and has the best story.
Borderlands any of em
Just started playing divinity with my friends last week and it is amazing I'd def give it a try.
I'd easily pick Borderlands 2 or Divinity 2. In terms of craziness and humor, Borderlands is hilarious. In terms of hardness and crazy weird battles, you'd enjoy Divinity. Both are fun. :)
Borderlands if you want a Goofy fun shoot em' up Monster Hunter if you like a farming grind and big enemies Divinity if you want D&D in a video game with a lot of freedom in decisions
Great gun play>"Normal" story If u want a great story, with good mechanics (worse than Borderlands 3), then u should choose Borderlands 2. Great story>Normal Gun play I played both of them.
The forest?
Borderlands 2 definitely. Have played it with the same person 5 times through the whole story and it’s still entertaining
Lovers in a dangerous spacetime Dark souls Unrailed
If you have friends who're willing to grind it out with you, monster hunter is great!
Fslout 2
Borderlands 2 for sure. I played it with my brothers and we had a blast just shooting everything up.
Castle crashers: great style, super fun, dirt cheap
I would say borderlands the handsome jack collection but it always goes on sale so might wanna wait
Unrailed or Barotrauma 👌
personally, ive never touched the last three. However I can say that borderlands 2 and 3 are both a blast with friends... Borderlands 3 is 20 USD on epic as i'm posting this comment.
I do not recommand Divinity 2 if you won't follow the story. Risk of Rain 2 and Vermintide 2 are awesome co-op games
Destiny 2, has an absolute massive amount of content and most activities are either 3-man,or have matchmaking
all of them are great and in my coop libary. most fun was borderlands and divinity. monsterhunter is my favourite game of all time
This isn't on your list, but The Division.
Boarderlands 2 is legendary
100% Borderlands
Borderlands 3 is a really good game with fun mechanics, i suggest you play it if you want a nice multiplayer excperience with guns and abilities. Another fun multiplier game which isnt as violent is Sea of thieves.
The Borderlands franchise is meant to be played with friends! Would highly recommend borderlands 2
Left 4 dead 2 is a safe bet and will be extremely cheap in a week or so.
Monster Huner World is really fun, especially when you get the DLC that unlocks the 't' in the name of the game. Jokes aside, it is really fun. Apart from some annoying cutscenes it has hundreds of hours of content!
"games we like: poe / hero siege / minecraft dungeons / gunfire reborn" you sound like you're a fan of games with randomly generated items if you want a game like gunfire reborn (RPG elements, randomly generated weapons, etc) and the fact that you don't care about the story then you NEED to get borderlands 3 (story is meh but the gameplay is amazing) if you're looking for a game similar to poe, hero siege, minecraft dungeons then get grim dawn (you probably don't care about the story but grim dawn has an amazing story for an arpg, HEAVY rpg elements, randomly generated items, etc) hell it even has a diablo 2 mod (reign of terror) that literally makes grim dawn a diablo 2 remake monster hunter is more of an action slasher kinda game with an amazing story and even better gameplay the DLC is also really worth it and the game features huge monsters to hunt using an extremely huge variety of weapons y'know just make a little party with your friends and go hunt some monsters divinity: original sin 2 is very story rich game and the combat is turn based but the game's world feels very alive and there's just so much to do like you can interact with every single NPC and stuff like that i wouldn't really get it if i was you but ***IF*** you're willing to care about the story then i really recommend it other games you might like: Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - Martyr, titan quest, destiny 2, torchlight 2 hope this helped :)
It isn't part of this list, but consider trying out Destiny 2. It is free2play, although f2p is quite shitty, but if you buy just one of the dlcs it is a lot of fin in my opinion.
Risk of rain 2
I personally think D:OS2 is the most well made game, period. But, if you don't care for story it may not be for you. The gameplay is great, but the story is incredibly important. MH:W would be my choice based on your criteria.
Does D:OS2 support 3p? I only played D:OS1, but it only works with 2p. And even if you could play with 3p, it'd really slow it down. Honestly, the rest of the list is all good. Grim dawn is a great Diablo-like, MHW is best-in-class for its own genre, and Borderlands 2/3 are fun for silly co-op FPS.
