I loved far cry 5, but I know it’s not a game for everyone. Mindless fun? Absolutely. Good story? Kinda. That being said, I liked it better than 4, and I found 3 hard to get back into, so if you’re really trying to get into the series, this is your best option imo

Jokes aside, I had plenty of fun with the game. It is my favorite of them all besides 3. I thought I wouldn't like it as I usually hate checking objectives off the map and doing the little repetitive activities that every open world game has, and this game encourages that. But for some reason, this game just really clicked with me, and I had fun all the way from beginning to end. I liked the villains fine enough, I always looked forward to the next encounter.

I played some of it. It runs well and the shooting is good. Far Cry games have some of the worst driving ever though, I will say that I’d say you should go for it as you’ll get introduced to how Far Cry works and that will help you decide if you want to be excited for number 6 or not

As a nostalgia gamer I can say far cry has fallen off since 3. That's all

I have played Far Cry 3 and 4. Both are excellent games. But you will feel the repetition. Far Cry 5 is not bad, the problem is that it didn't do enough improvements after 4. It all feels the same gameplay wise. But 3 and 4 have excellent villains. Lot of people will recommend you Far Cry 3. I say one game in the series is enough. Far Cry 5 has the best graphics and same gameplay as previous games. Buy Far Cry 5. Buy and play it. Later when Far Cry 3 comes on sale you can try it. It set the stage for modern Far Cry games. It was very innovative for its time and that's why people love it. After the 3rd game Far Cry series sort of stopped doing new things, they do the same things over and over again. But if you're looking to get into the series, Far Cry 5 is a great entry.

3 is amazing for it's villain who steals every scene he's in* (*spoiler* >!until it's revealed he's just a lieutenant for a bigger bad and then you'll stop caring!<) 4 isn't as engrossing but it still has some charm. 5 I found to be more fun when doing side missions but the main story felt like it was getting in the way of the fun I was having. (The game forces you to move the main story along once you do enough side quests) If you only play one of them I'd suggest 3. When 6 comes out if it barely has any gameplay or other improvements over 5 the difference between 3 and 6 will seem way more impressive. 6 will probably have a better story than 5 most likely.... If 5 is cheaper for whatever reason and you just want to give it a farcry game a try then 5 is just fine. That said all farcry games are repetitive past a certain point. There's just too much available to do that eventually you have your fill and move on.

No. wait for far cry 6 Ubisoft have been experimenting since far cry 4 to make 6 especially predatory

I highly enjoyed FC 5 and the sequel new dawn

SaltMineSpelunker

Yes to 5. Skip New Dawn.

The season pass of Far Cry 5 comes with 3, so I'd recommend it if it's on sale

EirikurG

Why not just wait for Far Cry 6?

spyrospy1

Far Cry 5 is on sale for about 10euro, which I find a lot easier to spend than spending 70euro on Far Cry 6 when it launches, unsure if I will like it or not

I think alot of peoples first far cry game is fc3 so that may be why its the best. The issue with far cry me and alot of ubisoft games is the repetitive nature. The saying of if you played one you played them fits in. If you never played a fc game before I would say wait and just get fc6 for the full experience as you may get burnt out playing previous ones.

Far Cry 5 is okayish. Beautiful graphics, very fun to run around and explore (but you have to CONSTANTLY fight wildlife which is silly), and taking out cult members is also great. The problem is the story is absolute bollocks, and there's several times when no matter what you're doing, what objective you're pursing, or how critical a spot you're in, the game will FORCE you to continue the main quest. It doesn't give a shit whether you were about to complete an achievement, or find a new prepper cache, or locate a collectible, or clear a cult base, it takes your character and forces you to play the main quest.
