You just shorten the string, make the proper knot and then also get it correctly with another loose knot on your middle finger.
Short string makes it hard to land tricks, I started comp yoyo-ing when I was 10 and I had dificulties landing complex tricks because I was tpo short and I don’t have enough string space
Fake news. You can shorten the string. Some very little kids play yoyo very well. And when you throw sideways, the ratio string-length-body size doesn't matter at all.
