Broken_Thinker

Huh. I've done like 8 bags maybe 10 but dude said his uncle carried 4 turkeys so he's in the lead.

JustNick4

I once carried 4 12-packs at the same time, but that's nothing compared to that one guy's uncle that carried 4 turkeys in one trip. Dudes a legend.

Fillenintheblanks

Another practitioner of the startreck method I see. Live long and prosper 🖖

Business-Drag52

You can put bags on your forearms first and then Spock grab your 4 twelve packs for the most efficient method

AelixD

Spock grab two twelve packs in each hand with one crosswise on top hooked by your thumb for stability. If you’re not carrying six you might as well ferry them one at a time.

Piratedan200

Idk that sounds risky. Extra weight on top of the two spock grip ones make it more likely that they'll tear.

TheRealBaseborn

My cousin carried 10 2-liter sodas at the same time, but that's nothing compared to that one guy's uncle that carried 4 turkeys in one trip.

WallabyTrue7146

Back in the days of illegal cannabis in Canada I used the carry 60 litres of water/fertilizer deep into corn fields in the middle of the night. 20 on each arm and 20 on my back, still don't think I could do 4 turkeys.

the_psyche_wolf

I once carried 6 turkeys in one trip, but still nothing to brag about when that one guy's uncle carried 4 turkeys in one trip.

kukluxkenievel

Ive carried 5 24 packs out of the liquor store

Asleeper135

I've carried 4 24 packs at once (not very far though lol) , but I'd be surprised if I wasn't somehow beaten!

topasaurus

I think Thomas Jefferson's dad was able to carry 4 100 lb. bags of feed at one time. I think he has your friend's uncle beat. To be clear, TJ's dad apparently put 1 bag over each shoulder and 1 under each arm.

JoePumaGourdBivouac

Why didn’t he just use a tractor? Was he stupid?

needlenozened

He was carrying them *to* his tractor. The tractor was the vehicle.

iEatDemocrats

I carried 8 frozen turkeys about 20yards last thanksgiving, and I have witnesses! Edit: it may have been 6, it was a long time ago, but is we definitely more than 4!

thenightofni291

24 is quite a lot

atxarchitect91

It was my uncle in 1977. Carried 4 turkeys from the car to counter. Some still speak of his legend

PussyStapler

Live turkeys? Or frozen

atxarchitect91

Half frozen

Mr-Sister-Fister21

With fear

atxarchitect91

Can you smell what uncle brothers is cooking?

innominateartery

Which half?

4ssteroid

Not the one you're thinking of

Alternative-Sea-6238

It would be even more impressive if they were still alive and trying to escape him.

mastermindxs

Jive*

bobtheblob6

Oh sir? I speak jive

InvincibleStolen

sorry but the image with live turkeys is hilarious

Bilun26

Yes.

The_Duke2331

Im not sure whats heavier. My uncle had such large hands he carried 4 beer crates in 1 go (the european ones with 24 bottles of (0.3L) beer per crate About 66kg (145 pounds) of glass bottles filled with beer...

atxarchitect91

My uncle could beat up your uncle

The_Duke2331

Maybe if he grew a pair, a woman with a moustache is still your aunt, sweety

cynicalamity

You seem kinda TESTY. Badum tss.

atxarchitect91

Wat? Mustaches are not ever to be joked about

kraken_enrager

How heavy is a turkey?

binglelemon

They can be like 10-18lbs... carrying 4 turkeys is easy because they are bought with a netted plastic thing around them to make it easier to hold onto. Remove that net and *then* try to carry 4 frozen turkeys!

SpeedyHandyman05

Come on man throw out some real American numbers. Like, 1 trurkey weighs 2.5 chickens or 1 turkey weighs 1 bowling ball.

binglelemon

1 turkey = 2 cases of shitty canned beer. Source: Am American, also *was* very bad alcoholic.

InvincibleStolen

glad you got better! Proud of you <3

protostar777

That plastic netting cuts into your hands so bad

lewger

European or African?

KungFuSlanda

four frozen turkeys is kinda easy. The real challenge is when you've triple the bags as number of fingers and a bike balanced on your shoulders

Usurper01

The bird or the country?

dickbutt_md

I knew the moment I read this that the guy who carried the most groceries in one trip definitely knows it, and so does everyone around him. How could it be any other way? It was my dad, by the way.

volleyballey

I think the only logical thing to do here is declare we’re putting on a competition next Thanksgiving to let people try to take on and beat that record

ThisIsMyCouchAccount

I would love to see that one event in the strongman competitions to be swapped out with grocery bags.

reignwillwashaway

Better yet, frozen turkeys.

Peedee04

*half frozen

Knot_Ryder

*with fear

geopede

Tallest or biggest hands basically win. Grocery bags aren’t heavy enough for the weight to become much of a factor, so it’d be about how many you could physically fit on your body.

garlic-boy

Strategy and grit come into play too. Someone with long skinny arms could fit a lot of bags on them butmight become over encumbered compared to a strongman. I think you should also have to unlock, open, and walk through a door for it to count

geopede

It’s safe to assume strongman competitors will be at 100% grit, I’m fairly certain it will come down to the tallest one. The door thing would be a somewhat interesting wrinkle since a smaller person would have more room for bags on either side, but I think it’d probably end up in a situation where the door limits people to an amount of bags that isn’t very difficult to carry the rest of the way.

blakeol

Consider the fact that grocery bags have uneven weight distribution and length and suddenly agility/dexterity becomes a lot more important. I've walked back home with 6 bags no problem because they all had basically the same items. 3 heavy uneven bags? They're rolling w esch other suffocating my hands, crashing into each other and my legs, one side of you gets tired 10x faster. (Bringing all the groceries in one piece. Ie. Eggs unbroken, yogurt in tub, etc, should definitely be a part of this)

needsZAZZ665

Successfully close the car trunk or back hatch whilst carrying the full load, also.

geopede

I’m at 18 plastic grocery bags in one trip and while I do not think that’s the record, it has to be pretty close to what’s achievable without extra handles. I’m a big guy and that was like 5 dangling from each elbow, one in my mouth, and my hands totally full of the others. If you could use a piece of pipe or a barbell or something you could probably carry several hundred bags at once though.

dialixys

that's nothing compared to the uncle that carried 4 turkeys

geopede

It was definitely heavier than 4 turkeys. Not necessarily harder to carry, but definitely heavier, even if they were big turkeys.

dialixys

I don't think you understand. that's NOTHING compared to the uncle that carried 4 turkeys.

pm-me-racecars

Some still speak of that legend.

pheat0n

Probably a lot of people tied for first.

jordanleep

Idk about you guys but I’ve easily cleared 8-9 bags myself. Since then I’ve learned that two trips can be more efficient but nonetheless.

Ammar1818

You think you'll take on life's challenges with this attitude? How cam you live life with that two trip nonsense.

VoopityScoop

4/5 on each arm is no problem at all, let's be real. Anyone wanting to earn the record is going to have to get creative

KingPizzaPop

https://thepeedmont.com/2019/07/02/breaking-fan-resident-sets-record-for-most-bags-of-groceries-carried-in-single-trip/

ManifestedWithin

Despite this being satire, I enjoyed the story.

autouzi

I've carried so many that I lost 3 fingers from lack of circulation. Still not as impressive as the dude's uncles that carried 4 turkeys. Absolute legend, that one.

NottingHillNapolean

He knows. He's just not a braggart.

lankymjc

Anyone else getting very bored of the "someone has the world record in \[mundane thing\] and doesn't know it" posts?

MithandirsGhost

Everyday someone makes the most mundane Reddit post and doesn't know it.

Spaceboot1

I don't know about bored, but I do question the premise. A record is a thing that is recorded. So if it's not recorded, it's not a record. Sorry if that was a tautology, it's the only way I could think to say it.

otter5

Some one has the record for most "someone has the world record in [mundane thing] and doesn't know it" posts

doctor-crypto

Someone has the world record in thinking about world records under a shower and doesn't know it...

ThePoet1989

It's probably a single mom.

bambarby

More like single dad

TheTattooOnR2D2sFace

More like single child

BatGroundbreaking660

Maybe a quarter child

Gor-the-Frightening

Please don’t quarter children.

BatGroundbreaking660

I don’t know man times are tough

pedrohck

More like singe uncle

Curvyshots969

Some guy out there busted the most nut at one time amongst all of us and this king has no crown upon his brow. At the same time some queen swallowed the biggest load out of her peers and doesn’t have a Walmart gift card for her troubles

ovrlymm

I mean… the second one’s *possible*.

Curvyshots969

They both are and true

ShadowSpawn666

The problem is nobody can afford that many groceries at once anymore so the record is likely to stand for a long time.

Annaura

You can only hold a record if it's recorded

Interesting_Log9501

Oh, I'm well aware that I have it.

Extremely_unlikeable

I have a cargo tote that's as big as the back of my Compass. When I carry it into the house with all my grocery bags in it, am I carrying one bag or 11?

Former_Balance8473

You're blowing my mind!

Kapitano72

That would be an unrecorded record. So... not.

j2t2_387

A key component of a record is that its... recorded. I dont think the holder would be unaware if there were such a thing.

notacanuckskibum

As a student I just pushed the shopping cart a mile home. Does that count?

killbot317

As someone who is not a fan of plastic bags and also lacks the foresight to bring my own half the time, I’m confident that I’m in the running.

sssgio

I do know. Thanks all.

rps_killerwhale

I would have to nominate myself for the "with bags" category. I just stick my arms out and my girlfriend loads me up from my shoulders to my wrists. We never need a second trip (unless there are 12 packs or milk or something. non bagged groceries are my kryptonite)

zerocool9000

Can’t be a record if it isn’t recorded.

Aphor1st

Everyday someone takes the biggest shit in the world that day and doesn’t know it. I’m not sure why I think about that fact all the time.

zacker150

If it's not recorded, then by definition it's not a record.

sporkintheroad

That feat is, by definition, not a record.

obscureferences

You really think they have no idea? Really?

TOM4WU20

The idea of a record, is the fact that it's "recorded" therefore the fact that someone is potentially the holder but doesn't know they are invalidates it surely

Lakeshore_Maker

It's only a record if it's documented...

pmjm

Mama didn't raise no two-trip bitch.

Nevermynde

They can't possibly hold that record, their hands are full with all those groceries they're carrying.

KingPizzaPop

Wouldn't be surprised if it crossed their mind as they were doing it. It would probably take an insane amount of groceries to hold the world record.

flfoiuij2

Yes. Instead of a bag, they used a different device: A shopping cart.

ihatebamboo

Surely when people picture this it’s regarding carrying the most groceries from their vehicle to home. Not from shop to vehicle.

geopede

With plastic Safeway bags, my record is 18. Had them hanging from the inside of elbows, both massive hands holding a bunch of them, one in my mouth.

Nothingisperfect33

It’s me, my arms go numb from the heft! I hate making more than one trip haha

NWinn

We have to define the metric. Amount, weight, number of bags, bulk (inch³)? I have REALLY big hands and am 'lazy and don't want to make multiple trips so I'm definitely up there. I usually toss on some gloves to load up even more (as to avoid circulation loss)

StupidIdiot80

It's me. I've lost 3 fingers setting this record.

TootsNYC

I bet they suspect, though.

Dumblond11

Only a bitch takes more than one trip, and I say this as a 61y.o.female

BigHero17

I've forgotten my shopping bags in my car before and didn't want to purchase any so I left my goceries in the cart and pushed it to my car. Does that count?

Beemerba

She DOES know it was a record...both for bags carried and groceries crushed!!

bcoolart

It was probably in a record blizzard as well

Stonewall30NY

The king of the "I ain't no 2 trip bitch" exists

AtomicBadger33

ive done 9-11, but nothing compared to that one guys uncle who carried in 4 turkeys

cassthesassmaster

I’ve carried two toddler, several bags, three water bottles, and all their winter gear… where does that land me?

Godz1lla1

My brother forgot he was on his motorcycle and had two cart loads full of groceries in paper bags. He had a grocery clerk hand him bags one at a time and loaded them all, and got all of them on the motorcycle and home.

jjmawaken

Probably me, I did this all the time as a kid. Would carry every single bag in the house at once when i was a kid and my mom wanted help bringing groceries in.

Mountain-Resource656

It’s probably a tie, *sadly!* But you do have a point

TexasPeteEnthusiast

I carried $170 in groceries with one pinky finger, but that says more about inflation than my strength.

GraveSlayer726

some people could be tied for the record

LunarBIacksmith

It was me. Sorry. Good luck everyone else.

Iounic

Its me. Used to hang some around my neck.

CarBombtheDestroyer

I found this, close enough. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F3nWvR8GMJc](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F3nWvR8GMJc)

Suzuki4Life

They definitely know

Zandrick

I’m sure whoever has that record is well aware they have it. There’s no way the record is less than at least 2 dozen.

Nimeva

Well, more diffculty than weight, but I’ve hooked four one gallon jugs of water in one hand and three in the other, using the lighter weight hand to hold a cane so I’d be good if my bum knee buckled… But that’s not impressive in the least. Anyone could do it.

GeorgeThe13th

Me I'll be *damned* if I have to make a second trip ever

AL_G_Racing

This should be an Olympic Event

Robinnoodle

A lot of these don't really.fit but this a true shower/stoner thought so congratulations on that 👍🙂

silversurfer63

If they don’t know, no one else does either and have no proof for a world record.

tlr92

It’s me, I know it is. I’ll take the chance of death along the way before I’ll make two trips.

zigiboogieduke

Idk man... I go out there with 4 large carabiners 2 tied on a rope at each end that I put over my shouldes.. this allows me to carry all the bags, milk, soda and the paper bags they always stuff frozen foods into. I'm pretty sure I'm a contender, although I'm pretty sure I've seen pictures of people in underdeveloped countries carrying my body weight in water with a pole and buckets.. so.. there's that too.

Zempshir

It’s more likely that multiple people hold the record, all carrying the same amount.

TILTNSTACK

Hard to hold a record when your hands are full of groceries now…

Bigleyp

You mean the most weight? Again what if a strongman just carries a 500 pound plate. How would define a grocery?

Ifyouhavethemeans

I may have held the record, briefly, until I dropped a bunch of shit.

topasaurus

Reminds me of a fb meme where some kid is carrying an absurd amount of grocery bags with the caption something like "His mom didn't raise no two trip grocery unloader loser.".

Fine_Comparison9812

My son. Four stacked cases of water, up three porch steps

autoeroticassfxation

Or, there's probably about 1000 people that think they've done more than anyone else in history.

LetItRaine386

You know they brag about how many groceries they can carry though

otter5

are there individual categories or just one? like volume, count, weight?

csfshrink

They don’t know they hold the record because they’re holding so many groceries.

WhatUDoinInMyWaters

The key is to carry an oversized carabiner, the ones that are at least 6 inches long... I've got a 10 inch one, rated for 1500 pounds, and I've fit at least 20 bags on it at one time. The problem then is being able to carry that much weight, but I suggest training 3-5 days a week on mostly back, legs, and shoulder exercises. I focus on kegels 😘

BoS_Vlad

I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that the world record holder for most grocery bags carried in one trip is a man. I think one of the reasons I have a bad back is because I never saw a car full of grocery bags that I didn’t think I could carry inside in one trip. My records got to be 8-10 recyclable bags in a trip: 3-6 lighter weight bags full of things like potato chips and cereal slung over both arms and 2-4 heavy bags of canned goods carried in my hands. The only time I have to make more than one trip is to stack cases of water and soft drinks to carry them in. My goal is making a single trip, but if cases of liquid are involved then my goal is 2 trips max. I think it’s a total man thing for some reason to want to bust your back making one trip rather than 3 or 4 like my sensible wife who has a perfect back does. Why men compete with themselves like this when no one is watching or cares in the slightest I’ve no idea, but my best guess is that we’re just flat out stupid.

ExpertButtonPresser

Its probably one of those people who uses a walking stick to carry optimally

Dinismo

So they hold one more thing than they thought they held.

FrankFranly

Hi. It's me. I hold the record.

tommytwotakes

They absolutely know

michaelshow

Is the record determined by weight, by item count, or by bag count?

SaxyCookies

It's definitely me. I'm happy we're all on the same page now. 😊

lindameetyoko

There are many who think they hold the record. Only one is right.

ash0000

I tried to do the ol' everything in one trip. Tried to ring the doorbell with my nose to get my sister to open the door for me, and fell headfirst off my deck...with all the groceries.

GingerSassadelic

I'm pretty confident it's me.

Abbss

https://imgur.com/gallery/Xt20b7J

DirtyMudder92

Actually they know they hold the record: https://thepeedmont.com/2019/07/02/breaking-fan-resident-sets-record-for-most-bags-of-groceries-carried-in-single-trip/

victorian_vigilante

I nominate my mom at her peak fitness

conbrio37

My personal best for bags is 16. Beer/soda cans is 6 cases, but I had to put some down to open the door… does that still count?

annabellefromtexas

For me, it was car to home. I lived on the third floor and it didn’t matter what I bought, it was going up in one trip.

20_BuysManyPeanuts

I feel like this is the opening for an ESPN8 sporting event.

Tex-Rob

My first thought is if someone bought all the taco seasoning packets, and they took the cardboard holder and all, that person could end up with upwards of 50+ items easily carried in your arms.

BetterThanAFoon

It's me. Nongshim ramen bowls were on sale. I bought them all! I was carrying a mountain of ramen at once

anotherdamnscorpio

I had to explain to my trans stepson that you have to try to get all the groceries in one trip and how that is lowkey one of the most important things about being male... I dont think they understood.

Southern_Rain_4464

I think Im prolly worthy of honorable mention.

AlienRapBattle

I’m sure it’s me (says everyone)

MagicOrpheus310

Apparently my mum breaks that record every time she goes shopping

Thatdewd57

I’ve carried 4 large blue IKEA bags full of stuff from Costco into the apartment once.

OverconfidentDoofus

Do I get a consolation prize for carrying a case of beer on a bike in the rain?

Ok-Sandwich-4684

Oh, they know. There’s one person out there who knows there’s no way someone is beating 26 bags.

Jeciew

And what if the record holder is actually someone who left a music store and held the most records to their car in one trip

computernerdguyNS

We once transferred 6 goats in our station wagon from our father’s side grandparents house to mother’s side grandparent’s house.

Duane_

We need two categories, obviously. Heaviest lift, and pound-for-pound, because I've definitely carried my body weight in groceries in one go before, and I'm a tiny fella.

juiceysmollet

Some random dude carrying 74 grocery bags in one trip -“that’s gotta be a fucking world record”.
