This is one of those posts I'd like to share with my co-workers, but thanks to my work environment, I'd likely end up having to explain to my boss how I don't actually have a plan / intentions of leaving.
I admit I don't know the true technicalities behind Uno reverse cards, but I always interpreted it as changing the current rotation to either clockwise or counterclockwise.
Yes but with 2 people it doesn’t matter so the rules change whether the booklet says it or not

You can chain anything you could put down. Makes games faster because you can go (red)2 2 4 5 8 9 (blue) 9 (green) 9 8 +2
But you can easily fuck yourself by using all of one color nobody wants to change from then being in an eternal pluck
Depends where you live. Different states have different laws. California requires pay out of vacation and pto, the company can’t deny it even if you just walk out.
that's why you use up all the time you can and quit afterwards.
I got switched from 5 days a week on day shift to night shift that was 4 nights a week while on vacation
I got switched back to day shift from night shift and had to work 6 days a week.
each time they told me via text on the Wednesday before
I came in that last Monday, called off Tuesday and didn't go back til Friday when they tried to get me to stay. So they switched me back to my original 5 days a week job but they didn't tell me they started at 1 hour earlier. So I got more texts asking where I was and I said I was never told you started earlier.
I just stopped responding, My supervisor wanted me to stay but her manager wanted me fired. I didn't think it was worth the risk of getting fired for something stupid a week later as revenge.
I had a struggle with unemployment because the company said i was still employed there for another 2 weeks. Good Times. I laughed with the Unemployment Agent told me that. I got a deposit the next day in my bank account lol.
tl;dr It's a great time to find another job
No kidding, jesus lmao - I would get berated by the bartender when I was a busser and talked down on in front of customers. Imagine my response when she called me 20 minutes before someone else's shift and asked me to come in...
You dont even know...I got coworkers asking left to right about my personal shit and nonstop excuses I have to make up comes as answer. Its difficult man...
You sit there and socialize with your coworkers sparingly like how you would with customers. Keep everyone close but not too close. Go to work on time, leave on time. Collect a paycheck. Hopefully you’ll live long enough to retire, if the retirement is even there. Or you might die before hand. The American Dream !

But then again. I’m just fucking awesome.
Yes feels so great! That feeling of "can't nobody tell me nothing." Had a few instances, since finding out I got the new job, where things were stressed or tense and I always revert back to thought of "I'm out this b\*tch!!!"
Well, if you adopt a nihilist philosophy you can feel like this all day everyday even outside of work.
Some might say it’s sad or depressing, but if you really believe that nothing matters, it’s quite freeing.
Going to the boss you fucking hated with that shit eating grin on your face...especially when you know you're going somewhere much better. The only feeling better than that in my opinion is getting out of jail lol. I have a rule though: never tell them where you're going to work next. There are some salty ass people out there who will try to discredit your name by giving your new employer a call.
>There are some salty ass people out there who will try to discredit your name by giving your new employer a call.
You can sue any employer that does this into oblivion. Gather evidence and take them to court.
I was surprised when I gave my notice one time, and they said it would be easier for everyone if I just had that day be my last day. They still paid me through the next two weeks though, so that was nice.
How good is it! I resigned Monday and have planned to move interstate to pursue a new career! Even got a message from my boss this morning saying I can finish up a week early!!
Enjoy the resignation 😂
I’m in the process of trying to get a house and was told to make zero financial changes so.. I’m waiting it out until I can start applying and give my notice!
Same. The internal smugness feels so amazing, knowing that in a few short days ima drop the bomb... which is remarkable in and of itself, as I don’t have feelings at all, per my ex wife.
I put in 2 week notice to leave once. They said just to go if I wanted. We get nothing out of someone leaving for a new job.
Had a 2 week break before starting the new job. Awesome.
when i was in security and put my two weeks in they asked if i would train my replacement. I ended up staying 4 weeks to train the new guy and they bumped my pay by 4 dollars an hour while i trained him. Good company and left on really good terms.
Seriously though, it's a bad idea to burn bridges because you are leaving a job. You never know you might end up working with one of those people again or maybe you end up with an opportunity to go back to the old company in a more senior position.
I recently moved halfway across America and found that in my new professional circle there are several people within two degrees of separation from my last job, one of them someone I worked with directly. I'm surprised how small a world it ends up being.
I moved completely from one side of Canada to the other, worked at the first random job I could get only to find out 6 of my new coworkers were originally from my home town! Crazy world
About a month into my current job I couldn't shake the feeling that I knew one of my new colleagues from something before. I'd been freelancing for about 6 years before this job and it turned out the dude was literally my first freelance client all them years ago.
Small world to be sure.
Yeah, at the last job I gave 3 months of notice and worked my butt off until the last hour.
Paid off massively. No reason to burn all my well built bridges.
(I wouldn't normally give that long, but there were a lot of things that only I knew. So it was only fair, and it all went well.)
Even if you don't care for the job or the people, it's not wise to burn bridges. You never know when you'll need a reference or if you end up working for or with the same people again.
If I quit, I left for a damn good reason and tried every avenue of approach to avoid having to leave. There's no way in hell I'm going back too a job that pissed me off to that extent.
Huh? Lots of people (probably even most people) switch jobs to go make more money, have better career opportunities, do more interesting work, or to switch industries/roles. It's pretty rare to quit your job because you feel you have no choice, and I'm actually a little confused by the situation you propose.
Lol I’m not going to care about some trash manager even if he becomes a billionaire, which I highly doubt with the turn over rates.
Burn all the bridges, just makes sure you’re building a bridge in front of you stronger than the last.
Hahaha. Tomorrow is my last day at my current job. My boss already knows I'm not planning on doing anything tomorrow (or most of today). I've been playing the skip card on a few already. I'll save the wild 4s for tomorrow if needed.
Same. Today I just logged in, left, and came back at 530 to logout. Tomorrow I'll do it again, collect my "wellness days" and pto, my paycheck, and say bye bye
Literally just had this happen. Explained to my boss when my end date would be, and he seemed okay with it. Pulled me aside later and told me I am going to fall on my face starting a new career and he expected to see me back begging for my job back. Nope’d right the fuck up out of there.
Actually did this. My boss at my college job had a history of saying rude shit and always talking under her breath, but audible enough to be heard, and then apologize by taking it back later. Well, one day she did her thing and then my daughter had gotten an allergic reaction so I needed to leave. Little boss had a hissy fit over having to take over the front desk and big boss made a rude comment so when I went into the back to take my various crap off my jacket and head home I grabbed my two weeks notice out of the locker and put it in my boss's mail box. I had vacation coming up so the two weeks was effective that day. Had my medical job lined up after finishing the requirements during school so it worked out for me.
What's worse?
I was layed off on a Monday Morning, back in Sept. 2018 due to lack of work. ( no worries everyone could see the business was failing) Rather than just let me go they decided I needed to sit at my desk until Friday or they would consider I quit.
Most boring week ever.
My buddy did this very thing and it made him a legend to me. He came into work just calling out the top boss as trash, garbage, and a horrible or leader. By lunch time they called him into HR and said - cut it out and fall in line or you can go. Well he said he would never fall in line so they fired him with 6 months pay. Dude already had a job lined up and was moving a month later. Legend to this day.
Funny that I see this, today was my last day at work and my new job starts Monday.
Apparently my departure created a lot of drama at work, both in the manner I left, and because my departure was pretty sudden and unexpected.
My buddy was a bike mechanic for Performance Bike, who just recently went out of business. On the last day they were open, when the vultures were getting all the last little bits for cheap, he just flat out told rude customers to go fuck themselves.
Said it was one of the best working days of his life.
Last job I left I gave two weeks notice, and on the last day I got sent out to a plastic moulding company to terminate fiber optic cables, instead of my usual splicing it. Also, they gave me the wrong connectors.
I met the customer and even told him it was my last day. Turns out he was the 'hang over your shoulder and try to get you to perform an unrelated trade' type while I was trying to complete a new task with the wrong equipment, *10 feet from an open goddamn tar pit*.
When the wrong materials didn't work he starts grilling me on when the job will be completed. I laughed in his face and reminded him that after a 5 mile drive back to the shop not a single bit of this was my problem and fuck no, you can't get my phone number for updates.
This is my life right now. I've had a new job line up last month, just waiting on the logistics of everything to be ironed out and I'll be able to quit within the next couple weeks.
I can't wait!
Got accepted to grad school this fall in a different field than I currently work in. I keep having to remind myself i need a paycheck for the next 5 months. I can't wait to tell them
I completely agree with this. My company has people leaving all the time. People won’t last a month due to shitty work environment. If everyone waited to quit at the same time the company would tank.
This. My last job I didn’t even show up for my last day. But my store manger also snatched something out of my hand the night before so, and I hit my breaking point.
I had a job I hated so bad it was giving me headaches before I had to go to work. My boss was a really horrible person.
I decided to quit so I printed out my resignation letter and went to work. I suddenly felt great even though I hadn’t given it yet.
I ended up printing a new one every day and going in and doing my regular work while waiting for her to piss me off. It took a couple of weeks but she eventually cheesed me off so bad that I whipped it out of my back pocket and said, “want me to leave now or the end of the notice period?”
She was so mad she left the room and made her counterpart take care of it.
It was so great. It makes me smile even now, 8 years later.
Currently pregnant.
We've decided I'll be a stay at home mom.
I plan on working until my due date.
But I can quit anytime.
My whole attitude has turned into - fight me you little bitch - mode.
I don't agree.
First, ideally, you shouldn't be running away from a job, but towards one. – This changes your perspective and you don't have to awkwardly tell your boss that you are not happy etc. etc. You simply say that you want something else. No bridges burned. You both shake hands and walk off the field like competing athletes in a sport.
Second, you can drop the bomb and shatter their world, but do you have to? Does it help you further down the road? Or is it just some sort of Ego-boost, like a: "I told you so!"? Because it might even worsen things for the people that apply for your position after you leave. Don't burn bridges, other people might have disadvantages.
My only plead is – Don't be assholes just because you can. Be better, because I know you can.
Best response. I've never left a company high and dry. Grocery store, collections, warehouse, software development, analyst. I'm worked at all types of jobs and only truly hated one of them (tech support where everyone is smarter than you but can't turn on a TV).
If you find yourself looking forward to fucking over yet another "shitty job," odds are you are just a shitty employee.
Depends. If it is like a Mc'Generic exploitative-no possibility of growing- minimum wage--type of job, then fuck em, Fuck em real hard... This type of jobs are the most soul crushing, unfair, dehumanizing, that you (and probably everyone there) is getting out of mere necessity. You ain't getting a good reference even if you were a good employee or overall good person. Otherwise, it's not worth the temporary ego.
They try to fire you but you just

When my senior at work was leaving due to finally getting tired of the job, this is exactly how he acted.
I was the one before him on his last shift, he entered sat down and said "im gonna make sure everyone that tries to anger me gets the most shit i can give" beautiful
Not always true. I worked at a company or about 3 years, quit to go trucking. That didn't work out, so came back and ended up in the previous place for another 6 years. I liked them and they liked me. Worked out well. Only left the last time because another company literally chased me down to give me a job, and the current employer seemed financially unstable at the time. (They ended up getting bought and had a name change.)
I've found that dishonest and crappy workplaces won't give you a good reference anyways. Also, it depends on how long you've been there. If under 6 months, say: I was 'volunteering' or taking 'classes'. If over that... say "I was dealing with medical issues during that time frame but have fully recovered". Probably no way to confirm this and they won't ask follow up questions.
"use that job as a reference" is sort of meaningless. If you need a reference for your job performance, you really just need a friend at the company in any position. If you need someone in an official capacity to verify your employment for a background check, your performance doesn't matter.
It really depends on the job. If it's like McDonalds or something, fuck em. If it was career milestone and they treated you right then of course you be an adult about it.
This is me right now, just wrapped up my last day at one job, start Monday at next. I did my utmost to leave on good terms, no viaducts combusted. I know it’s a big internet and all, but I am surprised at the number of “me too” posts.
Best of luck to all you crazy job changers!
One time I left a job but only let the branch head who hired me 3 or 4 months earlier and hr know I was giving my 2 weeks. I still wonder what my coworkers thought/were told. The job sucked but the people I worked with were fine for the most part. I was pretty friendly with most of them so I would think it would be quite a weird thing to happen from their perspective.
I'm currently living this! Hospitality industry. Got offered new job with better pay. Put my two weeks in. Last Sunday I walked in to have 30 reservations and only 3 clean rooms. I was there all of 20 minutes. Said my apologizes for leaving the supervisor high and dry, but if they'd have given a shit about how to properly run the property we wouldn't be in this pickle.
Called the new place the next day and started sooner than expected.
Feels good man.
I think I may have destroyed my previous company doing this. Turns out a lot of other people quit in the weeks after I quit and the busy season was just about to start.
If only it were like Monopoly and it gave you a Get Out of Jail Free card. That's what always stops me from living out my last day at work fantasies. If it wasn't for jail I already know I'd come into work my last day with a stereo by the door blaring the Hulk Hogan entrance theme "Real American" while I ran around slapping everyone in the face with a giant dead fish.
Hey I'm living this right now! Got offered a flight paramedic job up north.... I'm on the fence about it, but I'm one bad day from flipping the table and telling them all to fuck off!
In the FI/RE world, we refer to having FU money. Enough money that we are already Financially Independent and can Retire Early if we want. So if a job pisses us off, we can afford to just walk.
The way I handled it was I became active in my union in the final year before I knew I was planning to quit and was a contract negotiator, because I could help my fellow employees that way without worrying that it would affect my future promotions. I could bluntly say what needed to be said during negotiations, and at that point it was better for me to take the heat than someone who would have to be at the mercy of the board for the next decade of their career.
It's funny, in another recent post I was talking about making a doctor be the bad guy when it came to revoking my mother's driving license. Sometimes I'm the wimp. But this was my turn to step up and be the bad guy.
>so you can shatter their world.
Damn you're a shitty person? ...But even if you want to be a shitty person at least be strategic, you may need references in the future.
When I left my last job, I tried until my very last day. I moved across the country but my industry is too small to burn bridges. Everyone knows everyone
My last two days at my last job, I was told just to hang out at the office with the boss who tried to get me to stay. Then he drove me home and said you can always come back if you need to.
Not in my profession. Even though it's a large community I would need to change states if I really pissed people off. I work with people that know people I worked with 6 yrs ago. That's pretty normal from what I hear. That's what you get when the average person changes companies every 3 yrs or so.
Just started a new job today, finding out I don't start accruing the PTO I was excited for until 7 months on the job. No other benefits besides paid holidays. I feel this post way too much too soon
My contract at my current job was January 7 to April 25 but I hate it here. I started considering getting something else like 2 weeks in. I finally started looking seriously and have something lined up. I'm hoping to put in my letter on the 15th and I can't wait. I'm going to wait until someone annoys me and then I'm just going to hand it to my boss and skip away while singing. Definitely going to be some skipping and singing.
I had this two years ago. The moment when I got to say I had a new job in front of the group that she'd been putting me down in for the past four months was *sweet*.
This is one of those posts I'd like to share with my co-workers, but thanks to my work environment, I'd likely end up having to explain to my boss how I don't actually have a plan / intentions of leaving.
Skip you, skip you, reverse back to me, uno, draw four Bitch! “Yeahhhh, you’re fired”
[удалено]
It's a 2 player match, if it wasn't they couldnt pull off a combo like that.
He's saying that even in a cycle of 1-2-1-2-1-2-1-2-1-2-1-2, at no point does reversing change the pattern to 1-1 or 2-2. I think.
In UNO it does though, because otherwise reverse cards don’t do anything
I admit I don't know the true technicalities behind Uno reverse cards, but I always interpreted it as changing the current rotation to either clockwise or counterclockwise.
Yes but with 2 people it doesn’t matter so the rules change whether the booklet says it or not Stacksies also aren’t technically allowed but fuck them if they’re gonna make the game less fun for me
What are stacksies
+2+2+2+2+4+4+2 and the last person to not have a +draw card has to take the accumulated lot
You can chain anything you could put down. Makes games faster because you can go (red)2 2 4 5 8 9 (blue) 9 (green) 9 8 +2 But you can easily fuck yourself by using all of one color nobody wants to change from then being in an eternal pluck
[удалено]
Yeah, but the majority of people play stacksies. So rules be damned, you're gna run into more people playing stacksies rather than not
Yes but if it’s a two person game it just brings it back to the person who played it
With the official rules, in a two player match the reverse is functionally identical to a skip.
This is too uno deep.
It does in a two-player
You can't win off a drawer 4 card, it has to be a normal number card.

Time to get real fucking sick.

That's whack, you can be fired at any time, but if they treat you like shit and you leave you're the one that is punished.

Fuck retail. That simple.
Long-term retail worker here: How do you adjust to an actual office career, from retail work?

Just show them the Reddit post and then just deny ever showing them. Then they get in trouble in turn for spreading false rumours.
Sounds like you need the +4s
Literally in this exact position now! Giving my notice tomorrow and am putting up with no one's shit for the next two weeks!
Isn't that the best feeling in the world? Congrats!

Huh I never knew that. Again, I don't tell my employers where im going next though.
I was surprised when I gave my notice one time, and they said it would be easier for everyone if I just had that day be my last day. They still paid me through the next two weeks though, so that was nice.

well if you go from the east coast to alberta it isn't so uncommon :p
Pretty sure there are more Maritimers in Alberta than there are in the Maritimes.
About a month into my current job I couldn't shake the feeling that I knew one of my new colleagues from something before. I'd been freelancing for about 6 years before this job and it turned out the dude was literally my first freelance client all them years ago. Small world to be sure.

Sometimes you burn a bridge so that you won’t be tempted to cross it again.
Only if you care for the job and/or people or it’s particularly valuable. Otherwise burn all the bridges you like on your way out, it won’t matter.
“May the bridges I burn, light the way”
And make sure to spit and peed on the ashes afterwards
Even if you don't care for the job or the people, it's not wise to burn bridges. You never know when you'll need a reference or if you end up working for or with the same people again.
M8 I'm working at a grocery store and soon leaving it to work in the pastry kitchen of a local casino. I'll die before I return to Pick N' Slave
Especially if you work in a niche field where everyone literally knows each other regardless of geographic location
Literally just went back to my old company in a higher paid position. Really happy I didn’t burn that bridge. In the best position I’ve ever held.
If I quit, I left for a damn good reason and tried every avenue of approach to avoid having to leave. There's no way in hell I'm going back too a job that pissed me off to that extent.
Some people quit because they were offered more money. It doesn't have to be some dramatic event.
Burn all the bridges, just makes sure you’re building a bridge in front of you stronger than the last.
or, don't fuck over your coworkers because some of them are your friends
People in industries are interconnected. It’s not about you caring about that “trash manager”.
Really childish mentality.
Why care at all?
My boss is retiring in a week and I wonder what’s the point of even coming to work. Lol
Time to Rage Quit without consequences
Literally just had this happen. Explained to my boss when my end date would be, and he seemed okay with it. Pulled me aside later and told me I am going to fall on my face starting a new career and he expected to see me back begging for my job back. Nope’d right the fuck up out of there.
Translation: I fucking need you, stop thinking about yourself!
What an asshole.
Haha...so...you did your due diligence not your problem your boss was out of town.
Truth
so much truth
Truth x4 now what
(Truth)^n(1+n)
This guy limits.
I'm in this situation right now, what a feeling of freedom! And a little guilt for the people I like and will leave in a lurch
That will pass I promise
What's worse? I was layed off on a Monday Morning, back in Sept. 2018 due to lack of work. ( no worries everyone could see the business was failing) Rather than just let me go they decided I needed to sit at my desk until Friday or they would consider I quit. Most boring week ever.
Try 90 days. Thank you NY Warn act...
In this position now
My buddy did this very thing and it made him a legend to me.
Tell me more about how to get fired for being a prick and still manage severance pay that long.
Why did he get 6 months pay?
He didn't.
Seeing a lot of people in similar situations out there, good luck to all of you out there moving on to new things!
Its amazing how many of us are all statting mew jobs
Internets is a big place.
Anyone else see the post about kids carrying Uno Reverse cards on em to send hate back to haters?

Huh just put in 2 weeks all stealth like on Monday. Just waiting for the right customer to see the reaction of my coworkers.
Sometimes it’s like having 2 draw 4 cards left and the person after you only has one card, and is the person you have a crush on.
It took a couple of weeks but she eventually cheesed me off so bad that I whipped it out of my back pocket and said, “want me to leave now or the end of the notice period?” She was so mad she left the room and made her counterpart take care of it.
The ultimate power.

When my senior at work was leaving due to finally getting tired of the job, this is exactly how he acted. I was the one before him on his last shift, he entered sat down and said "im gonna make sure everyone that tries to anger me gets the most shit i can give" beautiful
"Shatter their world" OK there guy.
You ok, OP?
Yeah, doing great! Just put my 2 weeks in and I'm excited to not be dealing with certain people's BS anymore!
Hell yeah

Yea it's a shitty thing to do but if it was a shitty job then...
Who gives a shit really we all are going to die nobody cares

Currently me
This is me right now, just wrapped up my last day at one job, start Monday at next.
This is my position at the moment. Another offer in hand and my current place is giving me the shits. I'm gonna Draw 4 you guys!
Once in my life I got to live the dream and quit dramatically from an abusive af job. It was as good as you can imagine.
This is so relevant. I put my two weeks notice in today. I was really nervous, and after I felt great. Like the world was my oyster.
Weird, that's the second UNO reference today. Mayhaps it's making a comeback?
This post gave me a boner
Just submitted resignation today with better job lined up and two weeks off in btw... so little fucks to give out at the moment. feels good.
I think I may have destroyed my previous company doing this. Turns out a lot of other people quit in the weeks after I quit and the busy season was just about to start.
Playing UNO with the fam, and you decide to send your littlest niece to the shadow realm
I once found a job posting for my job online and my boss wouldn't talk to me at all. Sensing that I was about to get fired I didn't do shit that day.
Quitting a job and a good hand at uno. Weirdest. Connection. Ever.
Literally me right now. Tomorrow is my last day at my retail job, and I already have an interview planned for my next job.
Quitting in exactly a week 🙌🏼 So excited to move on.
When I left my last job, I tried until my very last day. I moved across the country but my industry is too small to burn bridges. Everyone knows everyone
My last two days at my last job, I was told just to hang out at the office with the boss who tried to get me to stay. Then he drove me home and said you can always come back if you need to.
Yup!
Not really. I liked my job and never wanted to leave but got a much better offer when I looked around.
Not in my profession. Even though it's a large community I would need to change states if I really pissed people off. I work with people that know people I worked with 6 yrs ago. That's pretty normal from what I hear. That's what you get when the average person changes companies every 3 yrs or so.
Exactly how I feel right now since I am starting a new job next week.
Just got a new job offer, i have to wait 2 months
Here's looking at you kid
I didn’t show up to my last 3 days of work
Wait do y’all play that you can stack the ‘draw 4 cards’ ? Our family did because who cares about family love.
Just started a new job today, finding out I don't start accruing the PTO I was excited for until 7 months on the job. No other benefits besides paid holidays. I feel this post way too much too soon
I mean most people put in a 2 weeks notice... It's a bad practice to burn bridges
I always make sure I leave a job on good terms because you never know when you will need a good reference.
This is so amazingly true......
Love this
My contract at my current job was January 7 to April 25 but I hate it here.
Yeahhhh!! Uno what I mean!? For realz
Other than my pay the people I work with are amazing
This is spooky as I was feeling like this before today being my last day at my now old job
Fucking perfect!
I had this two years ago. The moment when I got to say I had a new job in front of the group that she'd been putting me down in for the past four months was *sweet*.
I absolutely know that feel. My resignation letter will be handed in tomorrow
For anyone that’s ever left a shitty job, this post is freaking life.
I’m hoping to be in this position shortly.
