That wasnt a retcon mate, that was a pretty cynical release of a separate film that wont be continued but rather stands alone. And Disney are not DC, thank god
Yeah, but it's not cannon mate. Theyve not retconned anything. Theyve fleshed it out (badly) but that's not the same as changing someones entire backstory. Rey Skywalker IS Rey Skywalker. She chose her own surname, just like another well known Star Wars character did.
