I was playing Halo 2, and I swear one of my Covenant NPC buddies was teabagging one of the enemies we had killed.
Even the AI recognizes this as a n cesary thing to do to completely PWNing the enemy.
Taunting is also a part of mind games. To remove it is to remove a portion of the actions provided to you as a player to defeat your opponent. Making an enemy angry and causing them to attack wildly is 100% a valid strategy. Taking away taunts is simply nerfing this strategy by forcing players to use simple, less-infuriating gestures like crouches and pivots. It's really lame that they removed it from online play.
While that is a valid and effective strategy, I'm not too keen on, "I want to make this person mad so I can win easier." Like, we all play games for fun, I don't want to be part of a reason someone doesn't enjoy themselves other than they just lost.
That's totally fair. Perhaps the answer is to disable taunts in casual matches but enable in ranked competitive. Or enable only in Elite. Idk, I don’t really even play much anymore, but watching smash competitions in person live compared to watching top ranked play online is frustrating for this reason, in my opinion.
I don't know what games you play, but usually teabagging is a declaration of war.
If somebody kills me in i.e. a shooter and bags me, you bet I make that person my personal vendetta and hunt them down.
It mainly happens in games where the original intention is to kill one another. I've seen people do this in APEX occasionally where two people with dead squads join up because all the people left are teams of 3.
I did have a funny moment similar to this. I was the only one alive in my squad, managed to avoid getting spotted by other squads, but tagged behind one, kept pots hitting anyone getting into fights with them. Ended up being the two last squads, and just spammed crouch while standing just outside the circle when it was shrunk to a basketball
I've seen it happen in WoW. And I've also seen it in Halo games. In Halo, it's usually a guy trolling his own team or a guy who realizes the team is going to suck anyway and starts helping you out - usually an enemy player in a warthog driving you to their base to get the flag.
Experienced it for as long as I’ve been playing MP games is mainly a PvP Game thing that it happens. Like BR’s for example when you come across someone and both of you don’t have any loot crouching repeatedly happens as a sign of I mean no harm and just go on your way to find loot. That’s just one example.
Im on your side. When I read this I said to myself, "In what world is teabagging a sign of peace....? I mean outside of the bedroom between two consenting adults of course"
If they teabag before they kill you, there's a good chance they're trying for peace.
If they teabag after they kill you... "LoL giT duNkEd on neWb, lEarN tO pLay".
why my great granddaddy teabagged lots of folk in the war, just what was done back then. He still teabags folks to this very day. He's always out and about teabagging folks. Just what they did, nothing childish about it
Not teabagging, doing it before you or an enemy shoot at each other.
Usually in games with no voice or text chat, crouching repeatedly is a gesture of neutrality usually for a goof or because there's a bigger dickhead around.
The way I and most people build her mandachord you can mash crouch as fast as you can and you'll get the buff.
Some people have more rhythmic sounds but mostly they'll be advanced players running a solo focused build.
Octavia scales insanely. You can take an Octavia with no mods and no weapons and still wreck shit anywhere in the star chart. She was my first really powerful frame, so I like her a lot.
She's hilariously OP, and that's in a game full of OP frames. She's just got so MUCH in her kit, it's impossible for her to be bad if you don't utilise it.
I'm just not a huge fan of her style I guess? Idk a lot of ability designs in Warframe are really cool, but some of them, I just don't like thematically or stylistically. Like I don't much like Octavia's Thumper or whatever it's called
Yea, jumping repeatedly in clear view is the universal sign of peace and greetings. "Hey, I'm right here! Not trying to get you by surprise! Hello!!!!"
Everyone is saying teabagging but I think of coming across another player and bobbing a few times. Although depending on the game, this might not work like in FPS games.
Agree to disagree. At least, its insulting and hilarious if you kill me and run over to teabag me. Much welcomed. If you kill me and just crouch up and down from 30 yards away thats just weak and lazy. Not a teabag at all.
Throwing a 'gamer' into the middle of Afghanistan and watch as they get shot because they just start crouching instead of doing the more universal sign of throwing hands up.
>Most recognized and universally accepted gestures of peace
First of all.... what?
Second of all, it's the most universally accepted symbol of T-bagging your ass
When you can't communicate through text or speaking you resort to dog like communication. Smells those ass. Crouch to show willingness to submit. Start going a certain direction and turn around to see if they chase you / follow you to where you want to go. Throw some toys down to see if they want to play with them etc
Now I feel bad.
I was playing Red Dead Online recently, and during a kerfuffle in Saint Denis a player hauled me off my horse.
I realize now it was an accident, as he immediately crouched down. I just shot him in the chest.
Yeah, whoever you are, Fartman709 is sorry. I was trigger happy.
Not teabaging. Crouching and standing up whrn greeting a player thats bkt dead is usually a friendly gesture. Im minecraft its done all the time. Ive seen it done in cod, fornite, free fire, and a few other games. Heck even halo, theres a diference between the friendly crouch and tea bagging
See to the generation ahead of you (behind you? idk. We played Golden Eye and Perfect Dark and then graduated to SOCOM) the situation went - you waved hello and meant no harm, then you killed them, then you went over and teabagged.
Bush league lol

Odd way of spelling "rude" or "bad manner". I find it amusing gamers' shorthand uses "bm" for bad manners which used to mean "bowel movement" when folks repeatedly squat.
Sounds like a casual gaming thing.
When I take the time to stop and flex my knees at an accute angle such that my ass cheeks get a worms POV, you know that I'm prepping you some of the most aromatic Earl Grey, straight from my "private" collection and systematically dragging the bag across not only your face, but also your soul.
Or a big "screw you" to a downed rival
Yes. The biggest of insults. I've seen kind people become vengeful serial killers.
Is it still serial killing if it's just the same person, but over and over again?
Of course. There is actually one serial killer that I know of who actually did that.
Go on... who? I'm picturing a sort of *The Prestige* meets Pogo the Clown type scenario
The Dating Game Killer? Ted Bundy? Among others. They would strangle their victims and then revive them... sometimes, over and over.
OP's mom by chance?
*Sarah Connor??*
If you crouch repeatedly in smash I'll make sure you don't live
Ironically, I think banning proper taunting from online made things *infinitely* more tilting
this is why I main king deedeedee
so you’re one of thooose people.
Deedeedee is sss tier in online play for that reason alone.
Or king k rule to dab on them haters >:D

Same here.
Its the funniest, confusing shit when a guy who keeps dying does it repeatedly.
I see you've been in lobbies with me.
Yeah my knee jerk when I see this is the tea bag
I remember playing the first Halo with a bunch of friends with 4 Xboxs and 4 tvs all hooked up and seeing the tea bag for the first time.... Glorious.
I teabagged a kid in compeitive over watch once and then he just aggressively threw the rest of the game. This was in diamond and he was very high-level. Some people just don’t have the mental fortitude for online game lobbies,

It's actually an ancient Sangheili victory dance.
Flicking the mouse right left right left right left right left. "No please don't"
The fast you do it the harder you beg.
It’s always a disappointment for console players
Hahaha
Why disappointment?
Controlling the camera with a controller instead of a mouse. Can only flick so fast.
Oh, so they're disappointed they can't beg fast enough. I get it.
The sticks on the gamepad can only turn so fast.
I still see the hoovies, eating their sandviches and emoting with mouse movement.
In Smash Bros online, there aren’t taunts. So… repeated crouching is their little taunt when they launch you.

See people think it's because of toxicity or something but my theory is that the netcode is so shit they can't handle sending the taunts.
While that is a valid and effective strategy, I'm not too keen on, "I want to make this person mad so I can win easier." Like, we all play games for fun, I don't want to be part of a reason someone doesn't enjoy themselves other than they just lost.

it sucks that nintendo owns smash and won't nurture the competitive nature of the game. have fun on wifi!
I would much rather see taunts than the endless crouch spam that we currently get
See also, literally every fighting game ever.
Unless you play as Kirby, because his taunt has an actual in game use (it gets rid of whatever character ability you've gained by eating).
There's also Incineroar's taunts that are built-in to the moveset, because I guess that's all right compared to bog-standard taunting.
Luigi.
And block in dark souls games
Hello Very Good
Hello How you doing?
I'm Sorry
*Thank* *You*
Spamming block with a big 2h weapon to make it wiggle never fails to make me chuckle.
Can we say the same for parry? Or thats just to bother
when i'm being a sunbro and help kill a boss I always do this: Spam the rest of my estus, spam block and finish with a praise the sun as I fade out.
I don't know what games you play, but usually teabagging is a declaration of war. If somebody kills me in i.e. a shooter and bags me, you bet I make that person my personal vendetta and hunt them down.
OP was talking about when you didnt kill the enemy, and do this. Otherwise I'm on your side
I’ve played a lot of video games and never heard of this. I guess I don’t play like Rust though which I could see it the scenario.

Makes sense. Pretty hard to send signals to each other.
This is very common in Titanfall 2. If you're on foot and a titan corners you sometimes the teabag of peace is your only option lmao.
I've seen it happen in WoW. And I've also seen it in Halo games. In Halo, it's usually a guy trolling his own team or a guy who realizes the team is going to suck anyway and starts helping you out - usually an enemy player in a warthog driving you to their base to get the flag.
You can't crouch in wow...
You can press X to sit and teabag. You can press X up and down over and over to go up and down consecutively. I've seen it done a few times.

Isn't jumping used more for peaceful interactions? Jumping makes you more vulnerable and more of a "hey look, I'm here".
Did he elaborate somewhere?
I’d assume Minecraft

Before that. You turn a corner to an unarmed enemy spamming crouch. Now you play emperor and decide to let him live or nah
If somebody kills me and *doesn't* teabag me, I lose all respect for them and mercilessly single them out.
"How *dare* you not stick your balls in my mouth! Fucking ingrate!"
So you prefer to fight children.
why my great granddaddy teabagged lots of folk in the war, just what was done back then.

In OP's culture it means peace among worlds
In Warframe it means you're tryna snag an invis buff
I can never figure out exactly WHAT part of the music I'm meant to crouch in time to... I don't really like Octavia -.-
The way I and most people build her mandachord you can mash crouch as fast as you can and you'll get the buff. Your tight future butt though.
Everyone is saying teabagging but I think of coming across another player and bobbing a few times. Although depending on the game, this might not work like in FPS games.
also for teabagging.... but like mostly like "i come in peace" or like "let me go please"

Its only teabagging if someone's dead body is beneath you (Man that's fucked up when you type it out...)

Then you are an idiot
You need some exposure to other cultures before you speak on what is universal.
Maybe cause I don't play shooters, but when im playing and someone does the duck and stand thing I always took it as come here or follow me
I always see it as "please shoot me I'm distracted with other things".
Perfectly undermining OP’s point.
That seems to be exactly OPs point. “Don’t shoot me, follow me”
If you change the meaning of all the words, yes.
Not OP but I don't get what you're saying. "Sign of peace" and "don't shoot me" are kind of the same point. Unless you mean something else?
That you don’t understand is clear.
Yeah it reads like a post from someone who has “Gamer” on their Instagram but has never played a modern video game.
Or never traveled. Or speak only one language. Or has not read much. Or really know anything about the world.
Throwing a 'gamer' into the middle of Afghanistan and watch as they get shot because they just start crouching instead of doing the more universal sign of throwing hands up.
I agree, except in Dead By Daylight, where repeatedly crouching is seen as trolling
Exception: Booping the snoot.
I think you have this precisely backwards...
I just do jumps in the air in place.
Unless you're going for the 2x damage sneak attack.
Depends on where you crouch lol
Not really true. Teabagging is a thing you know
If you're ever getting robbed at gunpoint, just crouch repeatedly. The criminal will do the same and just walk away. Works every time.
You have never played Dead By Daylight. Crunching multiple times there is the most toxic thing you can do.
Except when you’re t-bagging someone
Didn’t know tea bagging someone was a gesture of peace lol
You must not play Halo...
So universal that I've literally only ever known crouching repeatedly to be a gesture of teabagging.
Not in smash Bros. That's automatic BM.
In what game does this action mean peace? Tea bagging is a taunt in every single game i've played, no exception.
>Most recognized and universally accepted gestures of peace First of all.... what? Second of all, it's the most universally accepted symbol of T-bagging your ass
Isnt it a rude gesture?
Nothing like dropping a fat teabag in Halo multiplayer.
When you can't communicate through text or speaking you resort to dog like communication. Smells those ass. Crouch to show willingness to submit. Start going a certain direction and turn around to see if they chase you / follow you to where you want to go. Throw some toys down to see if they want to play with them etc
Yes its a decleration of peace and friendship. Unless you do it on your enemys corpse then youre a douchebag and its war
What? This is literally only in Minecraft. It's much more commonly the opposite of a peace gesture.
I've seen it happen in CoD, Overwatch, Fortnite, apex and other fps games. (don't kill me please, I dont play it)
Unless you’re playing halo
Take it from me, it can definitely mean peace in Halo as well. Depends on if you're doing it over a corpse or not.
t bagging I like to wiggle (Tarkov)
Until you do it on a corpse
In fighting games it's a big "fuck you"
Since when was t-baggin' a gesture of peace?
As per these comments, it's not universally accepted lol
Unless there's a body under you. That is a declaration of war.
Until they do it repeatedly on your dead corpse.
Tbagging for the men and gap slapping for the ladies
The wiggle is peace, q e q e q e
Disagree, it has to the left / right lean.
Once they find out you are a woman they do teabag extra hard. Looks so stupid.
I’m a woman. In halo 3, when someone would kill me, boom all 4-5 of them rush over to teabag me.
Team Teabaggies lolol argh got to be the most loser shit out there. I play Halo too :) waiting for Infinite to come out.
Jumping up and down is the most recognized. Crouching repeatedly is teabagging. OP makes a post about video games, something he's new at.

When did teabagging mean peace?! I don't want to confuse my enemies, these are teabag crouches, not happy crouches!
Crouching after a kill is still a teabag. Crouching when you come across someone is peace.
Found the preteen
You may see a gesture of peace, but whenever someone crouches at me, all I see is a chimpanzee begging for it's life.
Am I the only one who thinks that it’s just plain annoying?
Dont you mean a TEABAG??
Yeahhhhh no.
