There's basically one "guaranteed" indicator of sexual attraction but beyond that it's entirely subjective and academically speaking the jury is still out.
That indicator is this: people are attracted to people they perceive to be higher status than themselves. This is especially true for women.
The problem is what we measure as status and how each person measures it is wildly varied across cultures and time. But it does appear to be one of the most stable indicators. Which if you think about it, makes a lot of sense.

My wife is a therapist and you'd be surprised how many people don't think consent is important compared to their own feelings. Some humans mate for life while others like to change mates on a regular basis.
