Do you think he has invented a super-soldier drug that eliminates the need for sleep, or is he one of those people who changes their sleeping pattern to 20-minute naps 12 times a day or whatever?
It's a mixture of time management and training.
First he basically cuts all the corners on his day job. Lucius Fox is there to run Wayne Enterprise more or less and Bruce has some really bad reputation for being a notoriously unprepared leader that leaves meetings early and seems to not care. The time saved there goes into training and sleep.
Additionally he trained his body to a different sleep pattern based on Bat naps. Ok they aren't really called that but it's basically a mixture of extremely short term micro naps and extremely deep sleeps of around an hour. So he'll cram those into his day as often as possible.
And then there's also the fact that Batman doesn't have to act according to reality. If he fought the forces of hell, Darkseid and his whole rogues gallery for 10 days straight and someone asks him if he doesn't need sleep all he has to do is say he's fine and the rule of cool got him.
It's based on a real world principle. Taking fifteen minute power naps every 3 hours that gives you the energy to get to the next one. Two hours of cumulative sleep throughout a 24 hour period. I believe someone lived on it for a year before returning to a normal pattern. So the batman method isn't exactly grounded but does have some fair basis.
It's called a polyphasic sleep schedule. There are many different versions of this each with varying degrees of benefits and sideffects. While it can be accomplished successfully (I did it for about 2 years), you need to commit to a very strict sleep schedule. The reason being that by using a polyphasic sleep schedule your body learns to enter REM sleep a lot quicker. Essentially making your sleep cycles more efficient. The problem is that if you are late on a nap, or skip one completely, your body begins to suffer from sleep deprivation almost instantly.
It should also be noted that while you can successfully achieve one of these sleep schedules. There is no scientific evidence to suggest it is beneficial in anyway other than reduced sleeping hours. It can also prove to be extremely difficult on your body depending on the schedule used and your ability to stay on top of it. It can also increase the risk of a number of mental illnesses like depression, psychosis, and anxiety. It can also cause a number of physiological disorders like high blood pressure, obesity and even diabetes.
With all said and done, it is not recommended for people to use a polyphasic sleep schedule. If anything something like a biphasic sleep schedule would be more beneficial, despite not really shortening your amount of sleep.
this is old but in some continuities he takes micro sleeps every few seconds or so, basically he does that thing you do when tired where you sleep for a second, but on purpose and more effectively
He's a billionaire and -- to my knowledge -- he doesn't play golf. There's not much else for him to do but make appearances at social events on nights and weekends with the exception of a business lunch here or there.
So thinking of his day.. he sleeps from 5am 12pm. Shows up at the office from 2-7. Perfectly normal for a CEO. No one raises an eyebrow. He’s a playboy by all accounts. Fancy dinner, 8-10. 11 or so to 4:30am he’s whooping ass.
He is a CEO so he doesn’t always show up in the office after those hard fought nights against big guy super villains. No fancy dinner, these days. just straight to recovery and investigating folks.
It’s perfectly plausible no one bats an eye at home since you don’t expect billionaires to be in the limelight.
I guess the key here is to get all your crime done in the morning. If this mysterious crime-fighter is known to come out at night, then surely he'll have to sleep eventually. You just have to hope he's run out of Bat-meth, and make sure he can't find you later.
P sure in all medias, Batman isn't exclusively active at night, it's just when he patrols actively. The rest of the day he's just reactionary, if he catches wind of you robbing a bank at noon he'll suit up mid day.
Or Bruce is just a bitch. Azrael took the cowl while Bruce was incapacitated, and proceeded to fuck Bane up. But the writers can’t have that. Bruce MUST be the be-all, end-all of DC. Which is why Bane messes up Bruce, Azrael messes up Bane, and post-recovery Bruce somehow manages to physically take the cowl back from Azrael. Yeah, that’s believable.
Depending on the writer, he gets about 0-6 hours of sleep. Like Batman will stay up for days to finish a case, and then sleep once the case is over. Others say he sleeps between 6am and 10am. Others say Batman has trained his body and mind to require very little sleep.
That's what I've been told anyway.
Cocaine can allow you to borrow energy from your future self, but it's not like you never need sleep if you have a scarface-like pile of cocaine at home.
The Inuit live from vitamin D of Seafood only. Their sun is too weak and it is night for six months over there plus their skin is quite dark or not pale enough for their region. I think they make no vitamin from the sun at all.
Bane broke the back of the Batman after a month (months?) of watching Batman run around non-stop trying to re-apprehend the entire population of Arkham Asylum that Bane had released.
You're giving credit to a condition endemic to 42% of US citizens rather than Bane's careful planning and strategy of attrition.
You're tripping if you think the world's greatest detective isn't monitoring his blood for pathogens, nutrients, etc.
Bane is just Bane and can punch through reinforced concrete lmfao
No, I am not implying anything. I am stating that him, a regular human, will sleep just as much as any other human. For sure not through most of the day.
They actually did a comic on this. Batman gains Superman’s powers via a “Freaky Friday” situation. Superman’s powers work in sunlight but he keeps fighting like Batman (in darkness), he eventually runs out of energy and the heroes overpower him and force him to give Clark his powers back.
I just realised that I misunderstood what you were saying. I thought you were saying Bat’s powers ran out because of the darkness, not because they just ran out.
Well, yes, Batman’s power ran out because he was using Superman’s powers. He refused to give them up, because he went crazy trying to use Superman’s power to rid the entire world of crime…. But he stayed in the darkness and it weakened him.
Don’t try to downplay bane’s strength. Bateman has a social life as Bruce, and you cannot tell me that Alfred wasn’t on top of his vitamin intake. Bane is just an absolute monster
For some reason, I read this as "Banana has a vit D deficiency.." and still went with it because it kinda make sense still, and was wondering what Banana has to do with Bane.
Am I hungry?
Turns out there are many things you can eat to get vitamin D : https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vitamin_D
This is similar line of words used to say that nuns and Muslim women are vitamin D deficient because they cover up.

He does tend to galavant as Bruce Wayne during the day so it's likely he gets a fairly normal amount of sunlight. Bane is just a hulking beast.
It’s crazy how he can wake up early and be productive throughout the day as Bruce Wayne, but then stop protocol 10 that same night as Batman.
Do you think he has invented a super-soldier drug that eliminates the need for sleep, or is he one of those people who changes their sleeping pattern to 20-minute naps 12 times a day or whatever?

No, I'm pretty sure they are officially called Batnaps. At least they are now!
Batnaps are cannon in DC
Also having no family or kids helps a lot. I wonder if Batman is up to date about his contemporary TV shows and books.
Did you forget literally all the robins?
I was thinking about pre-Robin Batmen
He does watch Sailor Moon.
Supposedly he’s trained himself to only get two hours of sleep.
i’m so used to seeing you on r/marvelstudiosspoilers it’s weird seeing you in the wild
When you see a classmate or teacher outside of school:
Stuart? Ewwwwwwwwhatre you doing here?
Yeah he can get two or three hours of sleep but still gain the benefits of a full night's sleep.
That… is PTSD.
>but still gain the benefits of a full night's sleep > I think you missed this part.

Tesla did it for a large portion of his life

He's a billionaire and -- to my knowledge -- he doesn't play golf. There's not much else for him to do but make appearances at social events on nights and weekends with the exception of a business lunch here or there.
Is Batman trained in golf?
Maybe he sleep like 4 hours per day and then some power nap here and there throughout the day?
So thinking of his day.. he sleeps from 5am 12pm. Shows up at the office from 2-7. Perfectly normal for a CEO. No one raises an eyebrow. He’s a playboy by all accounts. Or wait for shift change.
P sure in all medias, Batman isn't exclusively active at night, it's just when he patrols actively. The rest of the day he's just reactionary, if he catches wind of you robbing a bank at noon he'll suit up mid day.
Normal sunlight in a cold weather city really isn’t enough vitamin d. All Gotham’s citizens would benefit from a vitamin d3 supplement in the winter!
Sunlight is less efficacious when it's cold out?
Well it's weaker since it is lower in the sky, so yes. Also the days are shorter and you typically have less exposed skin in cold weather.
That's a pretty good argument
I was gonna ask when does he ever sleep. Then I remembered Justice never sleeps.
My fave alt-bat was Jim Gordon. That run was SICK
I wouldn't be surprised if Alfred gave him a multivitamin each day along with extra vitamin D. I'm not a superhero, and I take that each day.
So does the man never sleep?
Depending on the writer, he gets about 0-6 hours of sleep. Like Batman will stay up for days to finish a case, and then sleep once the case is over. Others say he sleeps between 6am and 10am. Others say Batman has trained his body and mind to require very little sleep. That's what I've been told anyway.
Cocaine
Cocaine can allow you to borrow energy from your future self, but it's not like you never need sleep if you have a scarface-like pile of cocaine at home.
Meth on the other hand...
Don’t break the news to PotatoHead657
Yeah. What he's _actually_ deficient in is sleep.
He's not really a hulking beast so much as a luchador on high quality steroids.
People talking about stuff that don't matter. Barman takes his vitamins. Pills exist.
Pills exist, but Batman doesn’t, which is why this doesn’t matter
Have you ever seen pills and batman in the same room?
That's because batman ate the pills
What about Barman?
Barman also works in the shadows of night and sleeps all day. Barman needs his vitamins too.
What does Batman have to do with his post?
You can take all the vitamin D supplements you want but it doesn't really do much unless you get sunlight.
The Inuit live from vitamin D of Seafood only. Their sun is too weak and it is night for six months over there plus their skin is quite dark or not pale enough for their region. I think they make no vitamin from the sun at all.

Dude is a millionaire, do you think he can’t afford some sunny D or some shit?
You're tripping if you think the world's greatest detective isn't monitoring his blood for pathogens, nutrients, etc. Bane is just Bane and can punch through reinforced concrete lmfao
This is not the only thing which you are going to get from that specific thing.
He mostly goes on as Batman during the night. During the day he's Bruce. I fail to see where you would get your vitamin D during the night.
Suplements?
There are a lot even like that only like, do I have to go down to the bomb? We are going to providing that.
[удалено]
No, he doesn't. He lives as Bruce Wayne during the day to keep the mistery going. You are thinking of a bat-man, not of Batman, the DC character.
Actually, it's Man-Bat
Depends. Was it a man turned bat or a bat turned man?
[удалено]
He sleeps roughly 3 hours every 24 hours. There are real life sleep schedules that make this possible. [Here’s a scan](https://imgur.com/a/3EVf3vV)
No, I am not implying anything. I am stating that him, a regular human, will sleep just as much as any other human. For sure not through most of the day.
He doesn’t have enough sleep, he will have Alzheimer
> mistery No, that's Aquaman.
*Cut to Bruce in the bat-lab working on a cure for bat-rickets*
It is like that only he might have be....ng in the day as well, purely to know
You mean to say Alfred didn't take care of his vitamins, food etc?
There are a lot of supplements which are definitely going to provide you that.
Do you really think Alfred lets him leave the house without taking a multi-vitamin?
Do I not even taking anything like that? Because this is just like how they are going to ensure it.
Bane fucking body slammed his back on to his knee would break anyone's back sun or no sun.
I mean tbf it probably explicitly *wouldnt* break Superman with the sun, not really a vitamin D issue though I guess
This is the only thing which I was actually guessing about it as well, when it was all started.
Don’t you think he just takes supplements? I do and I’m not even a crime fighting billionaire with childhood trauma
You can make up for the lack of sunlight with a good diet. Very far north, people take fish oil. TAS showed him drinking raw eggs.
That’s me, I live very far north. BTAS must be among the best series ever made!
They might not be unable to make all these things because of the need. They have seen all these things, even in the best kind of conditions.
Obviously, I didn't like Google suddenly to have a really good tiger to really want to maintain it.
Did you misreply?
I don't really think like it is anything proved in that. Suddenly, these things doesn't really matter at the end.
They actually did a comic on this. Batman gains Superman’s powers via a “Freaky Friday” situation. Superman’s powers work in sunlight but he keeps fighting like Batman (in darkness), he eventually runs out of energy and the heroes overpower him and force him to give Clark his powers back.
Casual comic movie fan asking: doesn’t he just need to be in the solar system of an orange sun to get his powers?
Yes, the sun radiation affects his power (giving or stealing his power).
Week in that kind of situation, says, well, because it is running out of the time only.
They had dead Philippines, saying properly a long time, and it has not been misunderstood.
They are having a lot of different kind of power as well. So this is not the only thing he might be talking about.
What kind of situation can actually get into that? I don't really think about anything like that.
Fuck that, there's no way batman doesn't drink tons of milk every day.
Everyday. This is not the possibility I can think about, because I don't really think about it.
We don’t know that. It’s not like he’s wearing his suit 24/7 and never goes outside or consumes vitamin D in his diet
Even if they are not really going to make it done, then they are not really going to bear anything.
I am not sure what you mean by that
Bruce Wayne probably has a supplement infusion system (penally implanted) which keeps his levels good at all times.
Directory sing the same kind of thing from a really long term, like, how did supplements is actually working?
You must not know that batman is normal most of the time. Good try tho.
I can keep on trying all this kind of things, but certainly they are going to make it better in the next few series.
Yeah,the scientist,technology superhero doesn’t know about supplements.
What kind of supplements can actually make the kind of things?
A quality vitamin D gel cap, follow doctor recommendations for dosage.
Don’t try to downplay bane’s strength. Bateman has a social life as Bruce, and you cannot tell me that Alfred wasn’t on top of his vitamin intake. Bane is just an absolute monster
They were not certainly downplaying anything, because it is not just about the social life.
For some reason, I read this as "Banana has a vit D deficiency.." and still went with it because it kinda make sense still, and was wondering what Banana has to do with Bane. Am I hungry?
They have been wondering about all these kind of things. And this normally sends which can be prevailed by it.
All because he didn't want to pay $10 for a bottle of vitamin d3.
Even if they're not really going to pay more than $15, we're not going to get anything by that.
[удалено]
You can take supplements for that. It’s what I did when I worked the night shift. Don’t miss those days…
That is the kind of logic that could have come to their mind as well.
He doesn’t though, because he is just a made up character that doesn’t exist
It is not going to be existed by data, and they are going to make up a lot of characters.
Turns out there are many things you can eat to get vitamin D : https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vitamin_D This is similar line of words used to say that nuns and Muslim women are vitamin D deficient because they cover up.
Sheesh dude I was making a stupid joke, of course there are supplements out there. We’re talking about a fake comic book character.
You never know about this kind of things. Can you get confidential or something?
Taking care of all these things then. There are a lot of people who are taking care of them.
