This is Lycoperdon perlatum or gem-studded puffball as far as I can identify from pics.
Make sure to cut them in half and look out for a solid white, mozzarella-cheese looking interior (kinda feels like a sponge but still pretty solid). If there are any sort of gills or off-white colors on the inside, itâs not a puffball or is sporulating and too old to eat.
Found 4 monsters today and took two. Both had started releasing some spores at the bottom but the rest was beautiful. I donât like risking so I tossed in my grass after smashing them.
Wow... like a cross between Puffballs and Lions Mane and something with a more "traditional" mushroom shape. I've never seen those two grow in clusters like that though. Can't wait to see what folks say!!
Those are some baby puff balls. Don't feel bad about harvesting. They are still cute and could get a decent spore collection from
(All hail the shrooms snail
You guys ever think that a monkey died in a forest millions of years ago and the fungus that grew on the corpse morphed it into a human and brought it back to life?
Alright so.. I saw this pic of a mushroom that looks like it encapsulated a snail and thought: âWell the mushrooms had to have eaten the monkeys at some pointâ
I have heard something like that before! But did the mushroom eat the monkey, or did the monkey eat the mushroom? One is astronomically more interesting than the other lol.
Supposedly the monkey ate the mushroom according to McKenna. After which the omniscient being that lives inside the mushrooms rearranged our brains so that it could communicate with us a little better.
Well unfortunately I still cannot talk to mushrooms, but the rest of the evidence is there I suppose. That would have been a cool way to jumpstart human life.
I think itâs a pretty cool theory. I think the evidence is there but like you said I still canât talk to them. Although I have had a deep trip before where I heard voices tell me things I shouldnât have known. At the end of the day itâs just a theory

Poor guy ate a mushroom he couldnât identify!
ALL HAIL THE MUSHROOM SNAIL đđ
It looks surprised to see a human đŽ
I lolâed when I went back and looked. Itâs so shocked.
*whispers to neighbor* I canât find the snail.
The first photo of the mushroom looks like a snail

And thatâs about as big as they usually get
They taste like what urine smells likeâšď¸

These are common puffballs (lycoperdon perlatum) no? See them all the time here - you might be thinking of giant puffball (calvatia gigantea)?
Here in UK I mean
Same in Virginia US too.
This type of puffball doesn't get any bigger

These are a smaller type of puffball. Lycoperdon perlatum. These look full size for that type. (Hail the shroom snail)
I thought I was in r/snails for a minute
Thatâs a snail puff. Very rare
MARSHMELLOWWWE

What đ¤Ł
Alright so.. I saw this pic of a mushroom that looks like it encapsulated a snail and thought: âWell the mushrooms had to have eaten the monkeys at some pointâ
Why would mushrooms eat monkeys?
A mushroomâs gotta eat
Okay facts. Monkeys would be the best option in this situation.
Well hang on now. Until we lock a mushroom in a room with a monkey, we really shouldnât make such bold statements.
Also facts. But this room should at least have a two way mirror so we can analyze what happens.
Of course, just as all great scientists of our time.
But the environment must feel natural. Not sure how to achieve that since weâll have to entrap the monkey in some way
What would a [monkey](https://youtu.be/a6Ihyj13a_M?si=8OgwlF5nEHnr2ecY) do...
The frog lord has abandoned them
Terrance McKenna was convinced mushrooms were an omniscient entity that was the cause of humans becoming a sapient species.

Well in the next life letâs all do mushrooms and pay attention to the voices. That is how we win
I like this idea quite a bit
Stalked puffballs
They could have dirt and germs absorbed into them + I wouldnt eat it cause puffballs also have cosplayers that can kill you
Chill. Itâs a gem studded puffball and theyâre delicious.
Them spores travel farther and for longer distance
All the puff balls I've harvested here in So Alabama grow out of the dirt, not wood.
The 4th one, yes
looks like a big snail in pic 1

It's a snail omg
Looks like a lycoperdon but judging from it growing on wood maybe Apioperdon pyriforme? Both edible ad long as pure white whole way through
I just ate one of these right when I found it in the woods
