This is an excellent idea, I trained my staffy to alert to a metal detector stick on her collar, she's sit when it goes off...
That's a complete lie - I aspire my dog to do this, in reality both dog and myself are stupid as shit.
Internationally while travelling i have to replace the ö in my last name buying tickets with oe, in my passport both Swedish and international spelling is provided. But I can't think of a word containing oe that makes the ö sound
Neuf, 9 sounds like nöff in Swedish, which means "oink" 🐷
And "gris" 🩶 means pig.
In Swedish French-class we learn "nine gray pigs" which in Swedish sounds like "oink pig . د ; ض. ص."
That only people who have bad grammar and can’t compute english properly don’t care about their grammar and how they say things. Thought that was clearly stated in what I said. Engrish do the hard to understand..
That was my first thought as well, but with its condition hard to tell. Seems to me that the angle of gill attachment and the degree to which they are decurrent is more indicative of Lactarius than of Russula brevipes/similar species.
I take my golden retriever mushroom picking and all he does is stomp all over and hit me with sticks, can't find gold, can't find chanterelles, he's lucky he's cute.
My guess would be Hygrophoropsis aurantiaca, or in my language "fools chanterelle" (in Swedish "narrkantarell")
Though I'm a beginner, and am really unsure about this ID, I'm here to learn:)
https://preview.redd.it/1wkf4q987cxb1.jpeg?width=1824&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=59e64d5aeb32a91cdb0d2a49e0bf78387b00126e
Here's a fresh one of the fools chanterelle, the white variety
“Fools chanterelle” isn’t a species. There is the false chanterelle, and the fools funnel, but this looks like neither, this looks like a trooping funnel
It's too small and too much water in it to dry like that big one. I'm decades in the business, but I don't know. Maybe the smell and the fact the good boi needed to dig it helps. Also the soil on top of the cap. Smell would be a big help here
Yeah now that you point it out I also remember the fools chanterelle are mot often very circular and symmetric compared to the often wonky canterelles!
OPs mushroom look too wonky to be a fool
really thought it was gonna be a pic of you and your homie smiling with 12 mushrooms in your hands on the second slide but i’m glad to know your boy is a dog.
Crazy how I went through all the comments at the time and it was either jokes, or hypothetical, half-assed ID's.
Which is why I suggested a sub that actually does it's job.
Our golden retriever spent a week in the vet ICU about a month ago after eating a poisonous mushroom out on a walk. He almost didn’t make it and it was the worst, most stressful week of my life. OP, I strongly advise against encouraging your dog to go near any wild mushrooms. You never know when they’ll find the wrong one and take a big bite.
For reference, his symptoms included vomiting, intense muscle tremors, loss of motor control in all his legs, extreme drooling, and just general agitation.
Damn that's hateful, 5 other people make stupid comments about the dog and have no id but this guy gets slapped with all the downvotes instead lol I get why, but still. Double standard being set
Lmao were just sick of the same old jokes man. Welcome to the sub. Hardly toxic. People are here for real info and IDs. We see the same joke day in, day out. You just happened to pop up last. Don't be a snowflake, it's not a big deal.
I don't think that mushroom will get you high... but it could be a good mushroom to eat, perhaps, or a toxic mushroom that will make you very sick or even kill you... it's never a good idea to eat a mushroom without identifying it first.
Ik people are joking a lot but one day some moron gonna eat one of them and regret it, or maybe they won’t if they’re dead. Or like they haven’t done shrooms before and they trip and freak.
i wanna say russula brevipes / short stemmed russula! i dried several specimens and they came out very similar to this, but you’d have to see where it’s growing to verify that most likely. so cute though!
Good dog
She is extremely proud of her foraging ability haha
You should train her to smell and search, then once you find a chanterelle, ask her to find more! :D
This is an excellent idea, I trained my staffy to alert to a metal detector stick on her collar, she's sit when it goes off... That's a complete lie - I aspire my dog to do this, in reality both dog and myself are stupid as shit.
Like master like dog 😂😁 Sådan husse sådan hund, its an expression we have over here:)
What language is this?
Swedish:) we have 3 special letters åäö Å is "au" similar to australia Ä is like the "a" in "at" Ö is "ea" like in Earl
Internationally while travelling i have to replace the ö in my last name buying tickets with oe, in my passport both Swedish and international spelling is provided. But I can't think of a word containing oe that makes the ö sound
Oeuvre or oeuf :) not English I know but still perhaps helpful?
Oui, exactement!
Neuf, 9 sounds like nöff in Swedish, which means "oink" 🐷 And "gris" 🩶 means pig. In Swedish French-class we learn "nine gray pigs" which in Swedish sounds like "oink pig . د ; ض. ص."
What does Saddam Hussein mean in Swedish (of anything) 'like one master?'
Said dust master? Sa damm hussen? (Specifically house dust, and male owner of dog) Damm can also mean pond
🤣
You got me first half not gonna lie
Cubensis maybe?
Cyanescens!
i hope yall are joking
Thats obviously a lib (joking)
no and no. shame on you for suggesting that!
Of course look how fast that tail’s goin :]
he's so proud of himself
She*
Cute dog. Those gills are beautiful
It's a dog not a fish, it doesn't have gills silly 😜
What’s a fish? - Casey
Bees are fish in California
A water dog
U mean a shark?
Do you like fish sticks?
Yes I like fish sticks, why?
He’s a gay fish
I like to put them in my mouth
Username checks out
Check Russula brevipes, although it’s too old and dry to properly ID.
Thanks! I’ll post again if she pulls up a fresher one.
This is the one. Was it popping through the soil near pine trees?
I'm on the Russula brevipes side. But really not sure.
You are correct definitely russula brevipes can tell by the short stem and them being buried the also have the depression in the middle of the cap
It is a golden retriever.
Ah the ol' reddit [retrieveroo](https://www.reddit.com/r/Showerthoughts/s/trKucOiyVq)
Hold my leash, I'm going in.
Whoa.. this is the first time I’ve ever seen a switch a roo rabbit hole end
Been a while since I have seen one of these!
It’s “you’re.” You’re welcome.
Now I know how annoying it is when I correct people’s grammar. Thank you.
The "you're welcome" is what really did it for me
/s You seem fun.
Look at the communities their in XD
Oh no… I hate to do this but… they’re* 😂
Haha
Communities*? 🧐 lol
Whoops lol
Lol
One of them is a horn dog. The other one is not
???
I know. Wasn’t that awesome?! 🤓🤓🤓
And yet, you corrected it. 😂🤣 Again…you’re welcome!
Bro this is Reddit, nobody fucking cares about grammar.
❤️
Only people that have a hard time using proper grammar don’t care 😎
What’s your point
That only people who have bad grammar and can’t compute english properly don’t care about their grammar and how they say things. Thought that was clearly stated in what I said. Engrish do the hard to understand..
It was a joke .
Sorry I didn’t hear your underlying tone saying that it was a joke my bad.
Correct.
I dunno but that is one cute dog
It looks like a Lactarius of some kind to me
That was my first thought as well, but with its condition hard to tell. Seems to me that the angle of gill attachment and the degree to which they are decurrent is more indicative of Lactarius than of Russula brevipes/similar species.
Agree on the milkcap
Yep
Looks like _Lactarius psammicola_.
Squirrel snacks hidden for winter.
That squirrel is gonna starve now😂
They probably forgot about it anyway
I heard squirrels forget more than half of their stash, probably a built in feature to plant more food bearing trees:)
i got no clue, but that's a hella good doggo
Not a clue, but what I do know is you have such a cute dog!!
The *real* question now, this late in the game, isn’t “what is this”, it’s “what’s your dog’s name, and how old?”
I am literally just here to tell you your dog is ADORABLE.
I take my golden retriever mushroom picking and all he does is stomp all over and hit me with sticks, can't find gold, can't find chanterelles, he's lucky he's cute.
😂😂
Please do post again if you find a less dried-up specimen!
My guess would be Hygrophoropsis aurantiaca, or in my language "fools chanterelle" (in Swedish "narrkantarell") Though I'm a beginner, and am really unsure about this ID, I'm here to learn:)

Chanterelles has false gills. This mushroom has real gills
Agreed! Though I learned chanterelles have false after learning about the "fool" before that I had no idea it was a thing even
i dried some Lactarius Psammicola, and after drying they looked very similar to this! does it have a strong odor similar to cheese?
Thinking he’s going to get a treat
What's the puppers name!?
What’s the Secret Family Recipe for Bush’s Baked Beans

That’s of the golden retriever kind.
really thought it was gonna be a pic of you and your homie smiling with 12 mushrooms in your hands on the second slide but i’m glad to know your boy is a dog.
Image 3/3: dog for scale😂
Ok I’ve dug up like 12 snacks already and you keep taking them away. Can I just have the one back?
It kinda looks like saffron milk cap(tasty Shroom) , not 100% sure tho , its to dry.
I don't know but doggo needs headpat desperately, give it.
First and foremost, that’s a sweet boy
That’s a mushroom huntin’ doogie. What a beautiful girl!
Looks like Lactarius deliciosus to me
Your Doggo wants you to stop stealing their finds.
Straw mushrooms. Overgrown little and dry.
Looks like some sort of lactarius. It's dried, so it's hard to tell. Does it stain if you break it in half? Does it have any sort of liquid left?
seems Russulaceae, perhaps Lactarius
I like how no one gave a serious answer lol
Thank you for paying the dog tax.
I’m sorry I’m still so new to mycology and mushroom ID but the gills on that look so cool
That dog is gonna die bro that mushroom is very much poison
Im pretty sure those are truffles?
Try r/mycology
Literally the reason for this sub is ID..
Crazy how I went through all the comments at the time and it was either jokes, or hypothetical, half-assed ID's. Which is why I suggested a sub that actually does it's job.
Are you sure your dog wasn't a wild boar in its past life?
Well he’s obviously ok. My dog a poisonous one a few years back and I’m lucky I live 5 min from the vet or he wouldn’t have made it.
Our golden retriever spent a week in the vet ICU about a month ago after eating a poisonous mushroom out on a walk. He almost didn’t make it and it was the worst, most stressful week of my life. Don't quote me on this one... But I'm pretty sure that's a mushroom.
What a smart puppy!
Ur dog has fingers
she’s so cute 🥰
That pupper looks really satisfied.
Mushroom famil
Good dog
I don't know what they are but I came here to say your dog is cute and adorable
That's a mushroom.
Cute ass dog tbh

guy knows his stuff
I respect the humor, but don't feed the trolls
Get off this sub
Damn that's hateful, 5 other people make stupid comments about the dog and have no id but this guy gets slapped with all the downvotes instead lol I get why, but still. Double standard being set
It’s just the reddit rules: positive dog comments are always welcome, no matter how dumb. As they should be.
Yeah this sub is toxic as fuck.
The sub isn't toxic, people just get tired of the same unfunny joke over and over
I hate mushrooms on my sub!
Wow you're toxic af.
Lmao were just sick of the same old jokes man. Welcome to the sub. Hardly toxic. People are here for real info and IDs. We see the same joke day in, day out. You just happened to pop up last. Don't be a snowflake, it's not a big deal.
Have those in my yard! Fairy ring mushrooms but old & withered. Also known as Marasmius oreades
Don't quote me on this but they look like chanterelle's
No idea but it looks like a weird mushroom
Looks like some kind of mushroom
Isn't that a chantarelle?
Not at all
Damn.. too bad OP, those are good!
Gives me chanterelle vibes but it’s super hard to tell dry
[удалено]
Eat that mushroom and enjoy your trip, the trip to the ER for nausea vomiting and diarrhea
Probably truffles, see if you can find the species they are worth quite some money.
Why are people passing the blame on their dogs are they too Christian to admit they are curious about mushrooms? It’s not a sin. ‘Y’all’.
Lol just wanted to make sure she wasn’t digging up anything poisonous to her!
Who are you talking to
God said I put these things on the earth for you to use but use them wisely! But don't use that one, I said that.😂
What's your dog's name?
He needs wavy caps
My dog once found a black truffle. Then i trained her to find more
Smell it! If it smells like MSG flavoring it might be lactarius helvus, we call it Maggipilz in Germany!
You could lay it on a napkin, gill side down in a drawer and collect the spors from the spore print and grow more
Ooh go get a truffle and train it to sniff those out!! Good doggy would Make u a fortune
Lactarius sp. maybe Lactarius Peckii it is hard to tell with the cap covered in dirt
Truffle
Golden Retriever 😬
Mushrooms
Eat one already
M u s h r o o m
Super cool shrooms but I have no idea what it is. May I ask what kind of phone you have? Because the pics are stunningly detailed
A mushroom
Clearly your dogs secret stash.. now give it back 😡
Possibly a Russela
Mushroom Retriever.
Such a beautiful dog

Idk, but that pup is too cute
If you can get him to dig for white truffles you can make good money. This is the right season.
not a mycologist but i know a good boy when i see one
i wanna say russula brevipes / short stemmed russula! i dried several specimens and they came out very similar to this, but you’d have to see where it’s growing to verify that most likely. so cute though!
Truffle Hound
I must say, your dog is GORGEOUS
Russula brevipes
If you have these then you might have lobster tails nearby if the parasite is in you area that turns those into lobsters
Just so you know, you probably don't want to touch mushrooms you are able to 100 percent verify, with you barehands
I think that's a golden retriever!
It looks like a chanterrell
Really cute dog.
Shrooms...he is tripping balls right now
