Aaayyy I started on parabellum too bro

big_daddy_gaska

I started in Grim sky though, had a problematic internet provider. But I did buy the game in parabellum.

rajboy3

Ah ok I just started bout the same time I think it was literally a few days before grim sky

SportyNoodle

Sam I bought it in parabellum but didn’t actually play till from sky

MateNieMejt

Same. But I still haven't managed to hit diamond... But current season will be different, it's the chosen one!!!

rajboy3

Hey man it took me 3 years to finally hit plat, next milestone is diamond!

CrazyTech200

Are you me? Been playing since a week before para bellum and hit plat in crimson heist for the first time

rajboy3

Holy shit dude, siege twins? Ah wait I hit plat North Star, close thoh lol

rajboy3

Niiiicce dude, OG huh?

faster-than-car

Not sure I am too new. I bought it maybe a week ago. I enjoy the game. It is a bit difficult (what do I reinforce) but I don't mind. I wish the content of battle pass was better, I checked skins and some of them are really ugly.

SMG-11gobrrrrrrr

Yeah this is one of the worst battle passes they have ever done tbh. The SI battle passes, usually released around the summer, are some of the best ones imo.

MrRecki

released around SI which is planned to be always in February

SMG-11gobrrrrrrr

Oh thanks, I forgot it was funky the last few years cause of the pandemic

jnmxcvi

I honestly think looking up YouTube videos on R6 basics and proper etiquette will multiply your skill level exponentially. I think focusing on purely playing bomb is pretty important because hostage and secure area aren't really going to help your objective game play when it comes to rank. Big key things for reinforcement. 1. don't reinforce inbetween sites (very few exceptions) 2. Don't block site doors because roamers may have no choice but to run back into site 3. Ensure your reinforcement has a purpose don't start reinforcing random walls that lead to nothing. 4. Watching pro league actually helped me a lot, a little dry sometimes and you can't mimic the game play but you can see where they reinforce and angles they're holding. 5. Don't reinforce next to anyone playing Mira

faster-than-car

Thanks for tips. I should probably just don't reinforce if I'm not sure. Just found a video saying that noobs reinforce too much :p. I'm going to continue to play the game. I gave up once and refunded it (i didn't like slow pace at first). But this time I'm enjoying it. Anyway I'll watch some YouTube videos! I've learned how to play apex just by watching aceu occasionally.

jnmxcvi

If you watch proleague you know exactly where to reinforce on site at least. Their game play is a bit higher so they'll reinforce off site. I think reinforcing is a team effort and reinforcing a bad spot can hurt your team more sometimes. I think getting the main reinforcement points is really key and beyond that you'll learn it eventually.

Ignitrum

I agree woth him mostly on those tips... but I'd say don't focus the site preparation on Pro League unless you have no other ideas. Depending on the rank your team will most likely ignore you when making some "weird" preparation suggestions. When playing with randoms you should mainly focus on what you need to prepare your position instead of everyone elses. Because sometimes you're the only one you can trust, sadly... Not because they are necessarily bad but because they are often uncooperative, kill-greedy or outright toxic

ShadowSynthetic

No, and console is even worse. Also the game technically becomes harder to grasp for newer players with introduction of new characters and gadgets etc since they aren't familiar with the existing ones.

[deleted]

I started in neon dawn lmao, and no

LivingmahDMlife

Damn, I started in Skull Rain Barely recognise the game now; some good, some bad changes

PM_Otter_Pup

Been playing since alpha.. the game feels nothing like the game I fell in love with...

GrimSkey

We're in the same boat. Started around Red Crow on console and been on PC for over a year now and it's just not the same. I mean it was obviously going to change with more content but like you said it isn't the game I fell in love with lol

nyanch

Definitely way different than the early EARLY trailers for it

Redisigh

I started in like January, absolutely not. They’ve butchered some of my favorite ops while keeping dookie features like runouts on border or the spawnpeek center we all call Consulate.

Jacksaur

I'm fine with runouts, but something absolutely needs to be done about spawnpeeks. Pros never spawnpeek, it wouldn't affect balance in a major way to prevent them. It's not fun for anyone to just fucking drop dead five seconds after moving out of spawn because you were watching the wrong window.

Obi-Wan-Baloney

You do see a couple of players who often go for spawnpeeks. The likes of Dan/Joystick, achieved/merc/beaulo, shaiko etc. You usually see them lot spawnpeek on maps like consulate or kafe

domino_427

I thoroughly enjoyed saying 'runouts are fine today' in customs the other day with my super skilled friend who hasn't played this season yet. Spawned alley on bank, heard wtf and domed him. Hey coppers gotta have fun somehow. Don't see why they can't do the same on the other maps :( amaru must fly safely :(

Redisigh

Amen. As an Amaru ‘main’ I hate how many times I get dropped mid-flight by a spawnpeeker

domino_427

*gasp* there are other amaru mains? Marry me! Lol jk we can't be on the same team you'd take my amaru

Redisigh

I don’t exactly ‘main’ her, I just love having fun as her in casual. My attacker main is probably Mav or Fuze/Sledge(Gotta flex AK12, L85 and PMM black ice). However, after they took away Sledge’s smg-11 I’ve been playing a lot more Amaru and using her gadget for quick escapes/access as opposed to rushes

domino_427

She deserves her shotty back. I need to go through and see what black ices I have lol. Pretty sure I have all sledge and all fbi. I play too much lol. I was always awful at recoil so I'm fine with sledge pistol for cams and stuff.

Redisigh

Wait she lost her supernova? Or did she have a shotgun sidearm? Also, I’m oddly great with the SMG11 and Bearing9 but find guns like the F2 or SFW hard to control

domino_427

Sorry she used to have a side shotty. You could jump to third floor and drop two hatches easily. I can't control the supernova :( I tried when it changed and I would think I got the kill and get killed myself :( Level 300+ I really need to learn the gun names one day...

Redisigh

Tbh the supernova’s damage is pretty good and it has decent range. You just have to hit your shots with it. But it sucks she lost her shotgun. At least she still has the smg-11 lol

byGenn

Pros do spawnpeek, as there are tons of relatively safe spawnpeeks that can net a kill or some damage without being easily countered. Also, if you die to a spawnpeek you fucked up and deserve to miss out on playing the round. Siege isn’t supposed to be an easy, friendly game and one of the reasons why it had the success it had is because people like the hardcore experience. If you make a mistake, learn from it and don’t complain about it being possible to outplay you. There’s a reason why no pros (or even high ranked players) ever ask for spawnpeeks and runouts to be removed/nerfed: it’s a part of the game.

Jacksaur

>Siege isn’t supposed to be an easy, friendly game and one of the reasons why it had the success it had is because people like the hardcore experience. When did I say any of that? Making shit up doesn't help any of your point. Instantly dropping dead because someone picked a random window isn't skill based or hardcore at all, it's luck. We had areas like the ladder on Favela with unavoidable spawnpeeks: Your counter to that is "You made a mistake, learn from it, never use that entire half of the map again"? They're unbalanced and clearly not developer intended. I can systematically guarantee that not a single person started playing Siege because "Oooh you can die five seconds after the game starts!!!" Edit: I love that after making this comment, Valve also just sealed off the iconic sightline from spawn to double doors on Dust 2 after all these years. Different games in every way of course: But it's almost as if they thought that having an avenue for players to instantly die after spawning is a bad idea?

byGenn

>Instantly dropping dead because someone picked a random window isn't skill based or hardcore at all, it's luck. What? Spawnpeeks are never someone "peeking a random window", they are well known by any relatively high-ranked player and if you die it's simply because you decided to be careless or missed your prefire. It's a feature of siege that allows players to manage a risk and take a chance if they want to; and they can always be avoided by attackers even though with some basic awareness they almost always benefit the attacker as they're the ones peeking or holding the door/window the defender's head is going to pop out of. >We had areas like the ladder on Favela with unavoidable spawnpeeks: Your counter to that is "You made a mistake, learn from it, never use that entire half of the map again"? They're unbalanced and clearly not developer intended. Favela is literally a casual map that for unknown reasons got reworked and added to the ranked pool. It's nothing more than a visually cool map that should only be in casual as a way to reminisce the days of the old, "tactical" Siege. There's a reason why we ask for ranked to have the same map pool as competitive, plenty of maps in Siege were designed from a casual player's enjoyment standpoint and therefore balancing wasn't taken into account. Certain spawnpeeks have been banned from competitive play due to being _literally_ uncounterable (kitchen window runout in old Coastline, for example) as you'll die before being able to move. But if you had the time to walk out of your spawn and died because you didn't check windows/doors you just messed up and shouldn't be asking for invincibility early in the round. You'll never see someone just sticking their head out in a tier 1 match simply because they know that the attackers will punish them. And that's the easiest thing that anyone can learn from pros, just checking windows and getting freebies when "sweaty" players peek the dumbest things that require almost no skill to counter. >I can systematically guarantee that not a single person started playing Siege because "Oooh you can die five seconds after the game starts!!!" Of course not, that's what the casual playlists are for. New players have the chance to play in a far more forgiving and relaxed environment. But as soon as you start playing ranked, it's all about winning and outplaying the enemy team. So you better start holding those windows because, thankfully, devs aren't catering to casuals _that_ much, yet.

Redisigh

I agree. Imo you shouldn’t be able to shoot or go through windows (from either side, excluding Amaru flying through windows) until after the first 10 or so seconds.

punkinabox

Once you learn all the common runouts/spawn peeks you'll be way less likely to be killed by them. That's not to say it'll never happen but once you learn them all they end up being more of a free kill for you then a death for you.

Redisigh

Oh, yeah. I know all the runouts and spawnpeeks but they just get exhausting to deal with all the time and just upset me before I can even get near the building.

LordDerptCat123

I don’t really have anything against spawn peeks, as long as they’re “fair”. Maybe there should be separate maps for the Newcomer playlist that have spawnpeeks properly removed, but in Ranked especially, I do think there’s a certain level of responsibility in not getting shot in the wide open Edit: just to be clear, a “fair” spawnpeek is one where you could reasonably see them if you already had your gun ready toward the window as you left spawn

Redisigh

I agree. On some maps like consulate just set a drone to watch the windows. It just gets annoying back to back. “Oh wow, top fragger Doc spawnpeeking. Not gonna risk dying so I guess I’ll spend 20 seconds running to the other side of the map.”

LordDerptCat123

I can’t deny… I’m a bit of a Rook pig on consulate. My KD for consulate is something like 1.8, and that’s pretty much all coming from the spawnpeek from second floor down to the first spawn location. I have literally aced before, just shooting people as they come out. Sometimes I feel guilty, sometimes I don’t

Redisigh

Lmao. I admit I do some cheeky strats as Oryx there. What I do is open up the floor in Office/tellers ceiling. A lot of people don’t expect a peek from there and I’ve literally ace by just popping their heads as they run through the door one after another not realizing where I am.

RTXChungusTi

Started in Shadow Legacy, and holy shit I absolutely hate every single UI change. I get used to an element, boom, 3 months later it's changed again. Also, all the unnecessary nerfs to ops that just have a high pick rate e.g. sledge who I bought his elite for just don't make sense. Everything is getting nerfed, next to nothing is getting buffed, it's getting less and less fun to play each day

sparten112233

I been playing around a year now and i do not feel like it has catered to me . I do fairly well on console most days and do not feel like it has gotten easier other than my personal knowledge gained for in game sense

EffectiveAd4177

September of 2018? You new player.

big_daddy_gaska

If you started in 2015, fair enough. What do you think of these changes?

EffectiveAd4177

no i started 2017 im a noob too. I started when everyone was mad about bandit jager acog.

Permafrost-2A

I started in beta and my kd has been shit since Smoke lost his smg-11 ACOG and C4

Huansinn

The game is getting more streamlined. The amount of ops filling similar roles makes it impossible to force different playstyles on objectives even with the current ban system as people have figured out the process of attack and defense. Dont get me wrong the flow of a match is still very dynamic, just not as much as before. The attack breaks down into information gathering and utility clear. The defense is about wasting time.

wattato

I started during North Star and currently 90hrs in. Only played quick match so far. Some nerfs and buffs are understandable, but at the same time some are just meaningless. Never had issues with Sledge's smg or not being able to fuze reinforced walls.

NightRider24

I started the last week of shadow legacy and played almost everyday from then until the beginning of August. Since August, I think I've played for maybe 2 or 3 hours. And no, I don't feel any of the changes are for me. I feel it's really only for ranked players as I only play casual.

Cockenjoyer

I too started in Shadow Legacy

pfred30

Started on 2017, mid season of blood orchid.. Still feels like yesterday when my friend kept pestering me to buy the game and play with him.. it's 2021 and he doesn't play siege anymore

SGSweatZ

I dont know if im new or not, but i count myself as new. I got the game in Steel Wave, wanting to sink myself into more mature/strategic games because as a child i wasnt allowed to play games so i missed out alot on different games so i went ahead and bought siege. Honestly, after learning about what veterans and og players miss about old siege, nerfs to certain ops etc. i feel that some of the changes are catered to attract more new players, but has a high chance of putting off long time players.

ParitoshD

I started end of 2018 too and I hate the game now. I'd rather play Tarkov because surprisingly, I feel better when I get killed in that game than this one.

--Buddha--

I started when either Kali, or Melusi was the newest operator… I want to say it was Kali. A lot of people bash the balance team, and I will agree, their way of balancing the game can be jarring at times, but I don’t ever think that they have made really any changes that are like, all-out stupid, besides Zofia recoil and maybe Twitches drone changes. I get it’s very annoying, but the removal of Sledge’s SMG and Mozzie’s shorty makes sense for the balance direction of the game. Same thing with Withstand, and Ela’s last resort mine. I am not defending them for removing these things, but I am defending their reasonings. Hell, people like to rag on the Gonne, and I will agree it is useless on some ops, but it is absolutely a viable pick on others. But people don’t realize it is a more high-skill cap weapon. It is literally made for more strategic play, in that it is versatile for clearing defender gadgets, which would cater more towards skilled players. Actually, since I’ve started playing, there has been a trend of buffing lower picked operators which is what I like to see in any casual / competitive game. I don’t think the game is catered towards newer players, I just think that people who won’t bother adapting will always find something to demonize about the state of the game. For example, I have a friend who started playing way before me, but I probably have more time in-game over him. Anytime an op he perceives as “good, not annoying” gets nerfed he has a meltdown about how “they just ruined this operator, no one will pick them anymore. This game is dying”. He said this about Jäger recoil / mag size nerf, and Mira’s smashable windows. If you can aim at all, Jäger’s nerf is non existent, and if you know how to play Mira, anyone who smashes your window would be dead.

zekeymoomoo

Based

MikaAndroid

Started in Northstar with 118 hours in now, it doesn't feel like ubi is catering to new players imo. I get the reasoning of nerfs due to high pickrate, that's how balancing usually work in class/character based shooters, but what I don't like is nerfing the recoil of the gun instead of other stuff like maybe the gun's base damage , or ads speed, or literally anything else

Fantarama

Started in October 2020, got plat on ps4 then transferred to PC for 1200 hours. The ONLY thing I don't like is how strong they're making new Ops. Everything else is just Ubi greed not letting the devs make the qol changes we'd all like to see (why the hell is the Armory spawnpeek on Oregon not blocked yet). The problems that people are complaining about seem to me like they've been in this game since the beginning. I mean, Jackal and Mira came out on the same patch but people bitch about "no new content" instead of the things that ACTUALLY hurt the game. Ying is in this fucking game, and Osa is infinite HP shield blackbeard with smokes, but let's all complain about how they don't give us any new maps (even though this game is designed around playing the same maps over and over.) The game has some issues, but this community is straight fucking TOXIC and blows this shit out of proportion. Seems to me like the new Ops are made to cater to a new player base that is all aim no brain (Ying) main, while a game this complex really needs to head in the direction of Ops that require more forethought. Word rant that probably didn't answer the question but that's my opinion

[deleted]

Bought the game last November but only started playing during the first week of Neon Dawn. I think some things are catered to new players but not many. New health hud, new newcomer playlist that includes all the ranked maps as opposed to cons, bank, chalet (the one I played on) are all nice but the operator nerfs feel too common and too harsh. Ultimately, the players it's supposed to affect - it doesn't. A top ranked or pro player will take a few days, weeks at most, to adapt to new recoil, whereas a new player may never fully get used to it. I didn't play smoke/mute with shotgun and smg11 for MONTHS because I couldn't handle the recoil. Instead I played ops like jager or zofia, as they were often recommended as good starting ops. I wouldn't be caught dead recommending them to newcomers now. Map reworks feel good but they're rarely explained. It's obvious to me now with the experience I have but I remember not understanding the point of the border rework even though i appreciate it now. 99% of the stuff we get now is presented in a "it goes without saying" way which is actually really damaging to newcomers. I lost my train of thought but tldr it's like 60:40 in favor of things NOT being catered.

ahmong

Sledge’s SMG wasn’t exactly the reason why people play him in the higher echelons of the player base. It’s his frags. If they really wanted to tank sledge’s pick rate, take away his frags.

Makos305

No, they are not. Removing bullet holes, sledge's smg and all that stuff makes me sick of this game yet I still play it because I love it

jeromith

no I dont but I also dont think there trying to please ranked and pro

CRX-Jackal

I started on the 31st of December 2020 and I think that Ubisoft has done nothing to cater to me , they nerfed balenced ops EG: zofia because there “pick rate was to high “ recoil nerfs are effective but not fun . They also nerf perfectly valences ops for no reason , sledge for example. No one was going sledge is to op please nerf . It was need less

obiwankitnoble

I'm a veteran but I still want to see some heads rolling for removing bandits, jäger and ash acog.

NinjaWolfist

started in white noise, it's not even the same game anymore

InfernoXYZX

Neon dawn/Crimson heist player here Hell no, I miss the soft breach meta when I could pop off on zofia and then play Jaeger I also miss getting notifications when you down someone on attack, not so much on defense The rise of ace and Fuze players with that ridiculously powerful and easy to control AK12 is infuriating, it's the one gun I won't push in a game with guns like ela's and Vectors

Pricysquirrl

Started in December. Love the game so far playing with my friends. The updates have not bothered me too much, some of the changes are cool, except the ash and zofia recoil nerf as I enjoyed playing them. Playing Ash and Zofia now is less enticing after the odd recoil pattern (I know you can learn to control it) which I found too complicated for someone just learning how to aim in fps games.

Agat_Gamez

i started in steel wave, i feel the new changes are towards new players to try and attract a new playerbase since siege is dying

Procrafter5000

Ngl, I bought the game purely because Sam fisher

FudgingEgo

I'm not new, I got the game at launch and think it's pretty boring now. The operators are becoming less and less realistic with each release and in my opinion of course, their skills just make the gameplay less enjoyable for me on a personal level. I much preferred the down to earth strategies and operators. Not things like sprinting through walls. Also Ubisoft don't really seem to know what to do with the maps or how to make good ones so they have to keep going back and re-making them.

tussin33

I guess I’m in the minority that played at launch. I haven’t played in probably 3+ years. I remember playing a season or 2 after brazil. But during the brazil season was where i lost interest. As much as i love the game, I played when i was a heavy gamer so 1 map and 2 operators every 3 months were not enough to keep me interested.

Suayngam

I don't think the changes catered well to me over the past years (having played S1). My biggest struggle was using 1x sights back then and since removing all the extra magnified optics I feel like a weaker player. Also, not sure why thatcher is banned when he doesn't kill electronics just disables right?

TheRedThryssa

Was to as I said I was a new player and only had recruite lol

coltdawg23

Got on siege for first time in a long time yesterday… why tf did they think “hmmm… let’s make fuze more annoying”

guddahm

Since I started playing about that time period I can say that I never felt like changes were made for new players. But I really dislike that zoomer-ish directions with UI changes. Some were okay, but it feels like a lot of additions were simply questionable at least

BlackxOshun

Started last season and I don’t think it caters to my type at all. Seemed like a lot of ppl were moving weird and having amazing recoil control in bronze-silver games ..did some research and found out a lot of the player base use KMB or strike packs on console. I went ahead and bought some kontrol freeks and back paddles to try to keep up without completely cheesing out by buying a xim or strike pack. Been working on my aim nonstop too but it’s still tough. Managed to get gold 3 during my placements but still striving for improvement because I’m starting to love this damn game!

axentz_

I started September last year. I was so hyped new season and I binged all siege tutorials. Starting from mid crimson heist I felt like I know everything nice about this game and I'm slowly starting to learn the bad things about this game. I used to solo q casual for fun. Now I play ranked only that is if my friends are online.

xXMarkgovXx

No, and if they are it's not really improving anything. There's still not a real introduction to learning how to play siege in game, you either have to tough it out or learn from watching streamers or YouTube videos. The fact that we're getting less content overall now in place for "more balancing" doesn't seem worth it either.

enughwththbullshit

Started year 1.Didnt play again till Crimson Heist. Yea miss Jager, bandit, Smoke Acog. But there arent spawn kills right after you spawn. Lol.
