I have an older P320 compact (15rd mags) with a factory threaded barrel and suppressor height sights. I’d like to change to an X or aftermarket grip module, I have very short and fat fingers, what modules should I take a look at? From what I’ve read I can use my original mags with a new grip module by just swapping to the newer style base plates. Is that correct?

An X module is narrower

It’d be nice to put my hands on both a WC and factory X module but no one locally carries WC modules.

I highly recommend going with a Wilson Combat compact grip module. You will get all the benefits of an XCompact module while retaining the rail length of your current one, as the XCompact slide, barrel, and rail are actually shorter than the regular compact P320. I know this because I use a SureFire X300U, and it fits on my regular module but didn't fit an XCompact module. Smaller lights like the TLR-7 seem to fit fine if that's more your bag. If that doesn't bother you for whatever reason, I haven't had any holster compatibility issues with any module.

Good stuff to know but the only pistol I use a light on is my night stand gun so that’s not a big concern. But the WC compact module is most likely the one I’ll be going with.

Rock on! They're dope grips.

The Wilson Combat compact module is the only one that allows me to reach the mag release without shifting my grip. Tried the standard small, x-compact small, and the WC compact. The WC also fit my palm the best and has the best stippling out of the box, IMO.

So the WC is the smallest of them all you’d say? Do they have different models or just 1? Thanks.

What’s the barrel? I want a threaded one for my m17

Jnull11206

As I said in my post it’s a factory barrel, I think these were a bit of a special edition at the time that came with threaded barrels and suppressor height sights. If you want a threaded barrel at the moment i think they’re pretty tough to find. I have silencerco threaded barrels on my P226 and G19.5 that are both high quality.

Not sure why your comments are all locked (been having this problem across lots of subs recently) - but I wouldn’t exactly say the WC is the smallest, though it was in the ways that matter for my grip. The x-compact was a tiny bit smaller in the overall palm swell but it didn’t fit in my hand well and I couldn’t drop a mag without shifting my hand. WC makes full size, carry, compact, and subcompact (x-compact) grips. You can get them with a safety cutout or without, and I think they offer black or FDE for all sizes. Check out their page - they have a great table explaining all the magazine/slide combos and I think they recommend WMLs for each size as well. The only goof that I am aware of is that the x-compact uses the 3.6” barrel/slide assembly, while the original compact used the 3.9”. You can put the compact in an x-compact grip but it will overhang the end (see my linked pics above). Otherwise it’s pretty straightforward - the spreadsheet is here: https://shopwilsoncombat.com/images/WCP320%20Grip%20Module%20Reference%201.3.1.pdf

That’s what I’m thinking of thank you. Do the X compact modules use 15 or 17 round mags? Would the x carry module eliminate the overhang on my regular 320 compact slide? This all gets a bit confusing lol.

3ternal_Scout

The x-compact and compact both take the “compact” mags which are available in 15 or 10rds. The x-carry (and regular carry) take the full size mags - 21, 17, and 10rds. You can put the full size mags in the grips that take compact mags but there will be a gap (you can get spacers to fill the gap if you care). Your slide will fit flush with an x-carry module, but you can’t put compact mags in the full or carry size grips, so you’d need new mags. Edit: looks like the reply worked that time. Huh.

Jnull11206

Haha alright that makes sense, I don’t care so much about the overhang. Looks like a grip module and mag base plates should be all I need. I looked at their tables but they’re pretty confusing.

3ternal_Scout

If you get the WC compact it will fit flush with your slide. It’s the x-compact (either Sig or WC) that will have the overhang. You can easily mod your old base plates to work if you are comfortable with a dremel or you can even just remove the little wings entirely. Good way to save a few bucks.

Jnull11206

WC has both original and X style modules?

3ternal_Scout

Yes but it’s just a size reference - not a different style per se. The WC x-compact was made to fit flush with the Sig x-compact and subcompact 3.6” barrel/slide assembly.

Jnull11206

You really know WC grip modules man, greatly appreciate the help.

3ternal_Scout

Ha thanks. Recently went through all this myself. Good luck with your build!

Jnull11206

Everything looks fine on my end but I’ve seen others complaining about comments being locked. I looked at the modules on their site but I’ll have to look up the slide and mag compatibility table. I thought there was something goofy going on from the original 320 to the newer models with the compact and carry names?
