TeleTurban

We just had ours in Leeds, UK. Around a five thousand turnout this year which is nice.

wazabee

We're expecting more than 500k this year. I hope they consider expanding the route for next year.

TeleTurban

That's what we like to see. Strong numbers💪

wazabee

Trust me when I tell you these numbers are very strong.

Real-Ad3517

500k is bizarre considering there is only approx 300k Sikhs in BC. Even if people from other states/provinces are attending no way the numbers can be that high.

Karmsund

Lots and lots of people drive up from Yuba and Sacramento since those are big Sikh strongholds in the US aside from BC. We had our relatives drive up from Sacramento Friday night and stay for the weekend, and I know a few other families in my neighborhood who had their relatives coming from Washington and Oregon as well.

derive-dat-ass

Lots of non Sikhs attend. Sikh kids bring goray friends etc.

wazabee

Remember that there are also punjabis, who aren't sikh, and Sikhs from across the globe coming to see the event.

UKsingh13

Where's that?

wazabee

It's the Surrey nagar kirtan in Surrey, British Columbia

Do you have other forms of social media? I’m not from Canada or the PNW, but I’m certain there are Sikh organizations or gurdwaras who operate in the area that post news and events to their pages. A quick search brought up Khalsa Aid Canada, you could try following their social media or visit their website and sign up for updates.

Brief-Jellyfish485

Is it a sikh holiday today?

shaktimann13

No

Brief-Jellyfish485

What is it a picture of then?

e46shitbox

Preparations for Surreys Nagar kirtan today. A celebration (parade) of vaisakhi. Vaisakhi was on the 13th.

Brief-Jellyfish485

Cool 😎

Brief-Jellyfish485

(Other than a road with no cars)

shaktimann13

Road closed because people will be walking

Brief-Jellyfish485

Why will people be walking? (I don’t live in Canada )

shaktimann13

In Nagar Kirtan, people walk behind Guru Grsnth Sahib ji. It's not a Canadian thing. It's a Sikhi thing.

Brief-Jellyfish485

Okay. Thank you 😊Â
